Cyberpunk 2077 Grieving Thread

Yeah, that's pretty obnoxious. Real misstep there. I wouldn't mind if they kept the "advance screenings" for GARME JURNALIZTS, because getting some feedback is always good, but encouraging them to brag about it is kinda a bad idea.

There's been a weird shift in PR between Witcher 3 and CP 2077. When Witcher 3 was in development I remember CDPR's social media being mostly upbeat and friendly, showing fan art and shit. With CP2077 it's shifted into being smug and kind of borderline antagonistic towards the fans I guess?

I'm not sure how to explain this although a few months back they were bragging about achieving 25% diversity hires so I hope that's not it.

I wish the delay was only to early November, not late.
:optimistic: Assuming it actually comes out then.

They think they're groundbreakingly unique and the humble heroes of a falling industry or some shit and their diehard fans think they won't go down the same path of progressively getting worse with each cycle like Bioware, Bethesda, etc
And subsequently the process of huffing their own farts has begun.

Nothing is safe from the decay of time. Like a good show CDPR has likely jumped the shark with witcher 3. Might as well make dead pool of which Dev team is next.

Just do it like Bloodlines attempted to do, release it with Troika admitting it being buggy, but Troika went and applied post-patches to fix them before it went down.
Funny, but bloodlines 2 is now getting delayed till unknown date, in order to get game work better. It was meant to be released this March :c

March of 2021? And now it's been pushed back to a simple TBA? That's disappointing but in the case of that game we want it to be good and some heavy delays may flatout be necessary because it was looking kinda rough.

Nonono, first release date was March 2020, but then they delayed the game and it’s literally unknown when it’ll be released. Devs don’t tell people when to expect this game to be released. I’d be ok with that, but they started to sell preorders right after announcement - march 2019, and recently they started to sell special physical edition.

Bloodlines 2 was/is still a bit sketchy overall since it haven't showed any more gameplay other from the demo a year ago (somewhere on June 2019?), so for it to drop just like that in March would be weird. But then again, I haven't known any other games from my mind that didn't show any gameplay and released.
Bloodlines 1, for its faults, released as a buggy mess with Troika fixing it over time. Unfortunately, Troika went down and the fanbase was left to fix the remains and Bloodlines 1 came out nicer.

I would rather just take CPDR doing what Troika did or explaining the reason for delays than just giving us a half-assed reply of 'lol just wait, it'll come" and hurting the fanbase's trust for that.

EDIT:

This also adds to more of the sketchiness Bloodlines 2 is doing. Selling preorders and a physical edition with a bust of that vampire with piercings and some maps, all the while a release date is TBD.

It's been pretty steadily becoming shit after they fired the guy that ran the twitter account for being "transphobic" and "using gamergate tactics". Fact is, CDPR probably is going the way of Bioware and such where diversity matters more than quality.

Haven't checked to see if she's egregious, just looks crazy in that pic.

They'll be fine as long as they can still produce a Fallout 4 or a Mass Effect 3. The goodwill won't dry up until they make it to their Andromeda or 76, they'll still get praise to high heaven as long as they can make something at least mediocre.

They're thing basically said "bugs and balancing", with a lot of fluffy stuff around it. So bugfix basically (I'm fully convinced they don't know how to balance).

That sort of smuggery is only very recent I've noticed. They were friendly throughout 2018 and a lot of 2019, with cosplay pics and fanart and stuff as you say. It's only this year that it's got all a bit obnoxious. Like when they decided to delay Night City Wire because black lives matter. That implies that when they got rid of their previous PR man for showing the corpse of game journalism being urinated on when Postal 2 went on sale on GOG, when they used #WontBeErased as a marketing tool, and when the predictable outrage at them showing energy drinks being marketed by dickgirls in the game came out, they hired someone else who had drunk the Kool Aid.

I suspect the rot has started. I think it's probably started too late to damage CP77 as a game, but what they come out with next I'll be more skeptical of.

Again, considering that with Witcher 3 the reason for delay number 2 was "we have a shitload of bugs, we cant get it all fixed in the time we have, give us 2 to 3 months more," and the Witcher 3 turned out the way it did, I wouldn't worry too much atm. Another delay is my threshold for "ok, don't be optimistic for this game anymore". Still will wait for the youtube reviews before I purchase it in case it ends up a clusterfuck like TLOU (shit story/woke nonsense) or Fallout 76 (buggy unplayable mess).

I think they just play super-duper cautious now, since they’ve put way too much time and money into CP77, they just can’t afford this game to fail. And sadly we live in a time when not playing by western rules may bring bad PR, cancelling and losing the platform, they for sure don’t want to cast a shadow on Sony and Microsoft for allowing games from “racist and transphobic“ developers on their platforms. They won’t survive just on GOG.
I just hope their next project won’t be that ambitious, and more “safe” with sensitive topics.

Lol they don't even have a time set yet for when their big PR event is gonna start on Thursday and we're approaching the 11th hour.

These guys are so fucking insecure about the stuff they make it's completely ridiculous at this point. They even mention how stressed they are for the previews that'll drop after NCW which is hilarious.

Like come on guys, grow some balls; they were the ones hyping this thing up as their "crown jewel" when they announced the 1st delay. Can't stand the hype, don't feed into it to such an insane degree. Don't get cold feet now after you delayed not just the game (again) but even the presser that'll show new content for the first time in almost a year.

I'm kinda getting tired of this company's neuroses, tbh.

In a way I can't say I blame them. W3 is such a tough act to follow, they're almost setting themselves up to fail. Does this mean CP77 will be bad? No. It will probably be really good. GOTY tier if that means anything. But it won't be as good as W3 because in W3 everything came together totally perfectly, and thus CP77 can't help but be a disappointment.

This might have something to do with it as well. Unfortunately CDPR are now too big to pull stunts like this. This isn't like Warhorse Studios where Daniel Vavrá were basically just trolling and living down to expectations and being able to have the quality of the game speak for itself.

Speaking of Vavra, hoping we get a sequel soon, and with some expanded crafting. A weaponcrafting skill or similar was left in the game files, so it was obviously planned at some point. Having iron daggers be the currency of the land makes a lot more sense when your PC is a blacksmith's son and assistant.

I feel like it all goes back to the very first CGI trailer for the game all those years ago. Never should've released it that early.

Hope we get to plow that mantis armed hooker with our augmented magnum dong, though.
