So I looked back at the view counts for Jedi Temple Challenge and they have shockingly exploded. This usually would make me happy, since it's one of the only good ideas Disney had for Star Wars. But the problem is that this growth is clearly unnatural; the show often struggled to get over 25k views in three days, and episodes 2-4 did not even have 100k views last time I looked, which was on Thursday night.
This is depressing, but a good sign of how fucking poorly they managed their property. No one really cared about this show due to the damage they did to their brand. Now though? They have a million views on the pilot, and over 800k for most of the episodes.
Disney, fucking botnet better. I like the show, but that jump from 10k views for episode 5 to 280k? Fucking artificial as hell, and it's probably to trick investors.
Like I said before, this show was in hot water due to its inability to attract interest and advertisers due to its low viewership and popularity, so they had no choice on the matter but to artificially increase views lest they end up with another failure on their hands. By artificially raising the views (which is even easier to do when comments are disabled) they're hoping to trick potential investors and advertisers into going all in on this shit. Its shamefully disgusting but probably the only thing that will save their hides. This goes to show just how much they've damaged the brand, however as the botnet isn't common knowledge, shills and casuals will label this as a "natural growth" despite this going against all possible trends or any form of natural interest growth.
Also it seems Doomcock's shit is spreading like wildfire and that's worrisome as that will only cause everyone to get egg on their face if it turns out to be false, much like when Doomcock made the bullshit claim that his "insider" said that Kennedy was leaving Lucasfilm only for her contract to get renewed until 2021. Midnight's Edge actually spoke to one of their actual contacts instead of relying on Doomcock shit (which they should've done from the start) and to no surprise from me or anyone else in the know, Lucasfilm reps said they can't confirm or deny anything, just that if a retcon/reboot does happen that it won't be to appease fans, it'll be for the sake of investors and movie production options, which is what I said before in this thread, that a retcon was always inevitable regardless if the Disney sequels weren't rotting garbage because reboots/remakes are just the natural order of things in Hollywood, and they'll do them for business or milking reasons, not for anything else.
The only thing I find of interest about all this bullshit is the claim that Palpatine's death in ROTJ was actually him jumping into one of the mirrors seen in Plan IX, hence why Furloni made him shoot blue flames from the mirror in Aladdin's Rebels to sort of imply that going into the mirror makes him want to shoot blue flames for some reason.
Also
@Itchy Bacca found some tweets from a woke SW author who also believes that a retcon could happen, but the author clearly doesn't seem to be in the know that well, but she embraces a multiverse because it means bringing back Legends, even though I fucking hate parallel universes (I'm fine with alternate universes which are alien to one another but I always hate the concept of multiple mirror universes as they're an easy way to not give a shit about continuity), but anyway
Itchy wrote a whole article on the matter discussing Doomcock's bullshit but also finding possibilities as to why it may not be complete bunk. And in another curious twist, Chase Bank has partnered up with Disney to produce some SW-themed credit cards but all of them are OT-focused.
Anyway... all I can say is that a retcon will happen some day within the next 10 years because that was always in the cards, but Doomcock's current rumors are complete bullshit, and even if they're true they really don't fix much of anything, especially if their idea of a fix is a lazy multiverse format that tries to establish their garbage Disney canon as the "true prime timeline" despite having zero involvement from any of the original Lucasfilm reps except Hidalgo and that two-faced Filoni while giving you zero reason to actually invest in the setting when there are an infinite number of the same characters running about while the "prime" versions end up just as fucked and warped as "prime" Marvel characters who suffer constant retcons or universe resets via idiotic reality bombs.
Nope; that he is made this big threat doesn't really feel right to me. Strong and skilled physical threat? Sure, but he should not have been the big threat to the republic like how Grievous was supposed to be (you know, as a general and strategist?).
Maul was designed to be Palpatine's muscle, he wasn't there to think... not really.
Not to mention Maul's characterization in Filoni Wars made little sense and did not only fail to match up well with TPM but even other media which preceded it, with Maul acting like some weird, talkative and overly emotional goon who just existed to serve the same role as a Skeletor minion. A lot of characterizations in Filoni Wars were honestly flanderized or generic as fuck, like Dooku going from complex political savant disappointed with the secularism and politicization of the jedi to "generic saturday cartoon bad guy", or Grievous being devolved to the rank of Skeletor or a Hanna-Barbera villain, or Anakin going from confused and brooding youth who wishes for answers to "generic swashbuckler #52,422 with hardly any dark leanings". The list goes on...
Anyway, I might as well continue the cosmic shitpost which should be ready by the next page if the thread doesn't get derailed.
So stay tuned. For those who don't know what the fuck the cosmic shitpost is, its a summary of Supernatural Encounters and the SW mythos in which it was confirmed that the Disney timeline is actually the failed creation of bratty eldritch horror children that's doomed to implode in on itself in a relatively short time.
