Star Wars Griefing Thread (SPOILERS) - Safety off

Is it wrong that I think Maul (Ahsoka too) is overrated now? I still like Maul even got excited when I saw him returned, to me I feel like they made Maul more of a threat to the Republic than Grievous, while the Jedi struggle against Maul but not against Grievous and even get two comic book of his own while I'm still here waiting for Grievous own comic series. Plus some fans think he underrated and the best Sith ever.

Nope; that he is made this big threat doesn't really feel right to me. Strong and skilled physical threat? Sure, but he should not have been the big threat to the republic like how Grievous was supposed to be (you know, as a general and strategist?).

Maul was designed to be Palpatine's muscle, he wasn't there to think... not really.

So I looked back at the view counts for Jedi Temple Challenge and they have shockingly exploded. This usually would make me happy, since it's one of the only good ideas Disney had for Star Wars. But the problem is that this growth is clearly unnatural; the show often struggled to get over 25k views in three days, and episodes 2-4 did not even have 100k views last time I looked, which was on Thursday night.

This is depressing, but a good sign of how fucking poorly they managed their property. No one really cared about this show due to the damage they did to their brand. Now though? They have a million views on the pilot, and over 800k for most of the episodes.

Disney, fucking botnet better. I like the show, but that jump from 10k views for episode 5 to 280k? Fucking artificial as hell, and it's probably to trick investors.
Like I said before, this show was in hot water due to its inability to attract interest and advertisers due to its low viewership and popularity, so they had no choice on the matter but to artificially increase views lest they end up with another failure on their hands. By artificially raising the views (which is even easier to do when comments are disabled) they're hoping to trick potential investors and advertisers into going all in on this shit. Its shamefully disgusting but probably the only thing that will save their hides. This goes to show just how much they've damaged the brand, however as the botnet isn't common knowledge, shills and casuals will label this as a "natural growth" despite this going against all possible trends or any form of natural interest growth.

Also it seems Doomcock's shit is spreading like wildfire and that's worrisome as that will only cause everyone to get egg on their face if it turns out to be false, much like when Doomcock made the bullshit claim that his "insider" said that Kennedy was leaving Lucasfilm only for her contract to get renewed until 2021. Midnight's Edge actually spoke to one of their actual contacts instead of relying on Doomcock shit (which they should've done from the start) and to no surprise from me or anyone else in the know, Lucasfilm reps said they can't confirm or deny anything, just that if a retcon/reboot does happen that it won't be to appease fans, it'll be for the sake of investors and movie production options, which is what I said before in this thread, that a retcon was always inevitable regardless if the Disney sequels weren't rotting garbage because reboots/remakes are just the natural order of things in Hollywood, and they'll do them for business or milking reasons, not for anything else.

The only thing I find of interest about all this bullshit is the claim that Palpatine's death in ROTJ was actually him jumping into one of the mirrors seen in Plan IX, hence why Furloni made him shoot blue flames from the mirror in Aladdin's Rebels to sort of imply that going into the mirror makes him want to shoot blue flames for some reason.

Also @Itchy Bacca found some tweets from a woke SW author who also believes that a retcon could happen, but the author clearly doesn't seem to be in the know that well, but she embraces a multiverse because it means bringing back Legends, even though I fucking hate parallel universes (I'm fine with alternate universes which are alien to one another but I always hate the concept of multiple mirror universes as they're an easy way to not give a shit about continuity), but anyway Itchy wrote a whole article on the matter discussing Doomcock's bullshit but also finding possibilities as to why it may not be complete bunk. And in another curious twist, Chase Bank has partnered up with Disney to produce some SW-themed credit cards but all of them are OT-focused.

Anyway... all I can say is that a retcon will happen some day within the next 10 years because that was always in the cards, but Doomcock's current rumors are complete bullshit, and even if they're true they really don't fix much of anything, especially if their idea of a fix is a lazy multiverse format that tries to establish their garbage Disney canon as the "true prime timeline" despite having zero involvement from any of the original Lucasfilm reps except Hidalgo and that two-faced Filoni while giving you zero reason to actually invest in the setting when there are an infinite number of the same characters running about while the "prime" versions end up just as fucked and warped as "prime" Marvel characters who suffer constant retcons or universe resets via idiotic reality bombs.

Not to mention Maul's characterization in Filoni Wars made little sense and did not only fail to match up well with TPM but even other media which preceded it, with Maul acting like some weird, talkative and overly emotional goon who just existed to serve the same role as a Skeletor minion. A lot of characterizations in Filoni Wars were honestly flanderized or generic as fuck, like Dooku going from complex political savant disappointed with the secularism and politicization of the jedi to "generic saturday cartoon bad guy", or Grievous being devolved to the rank of Skeletor or a Hanna-Barbera villain, or Anakin going from confused and brooding youth who wishes for answers to "generic swashbuckler #52,422 with hardly any dark leanings". The list goes on...

Anyway, I might as well continue the cosmic shitpost which should be ready by the next page if the thread doesn't get derailed.
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA.gif

So stay tuned. For those who don't know what the fuck the cosmic shitpost is, its a summary of Supernatural Encounters and the SW mythos in which it was confirmed that the Disney timeline is actually the failed creation of bratty eldritch horror children that's doomed to implode in on itself in a relatively short time.

I think we'll get a Star Wars remake by 2027 for the 50th anniversary. Expect Ewan McGregor as Obi-Wan unless he has the integrity to tell Disney to fuck off (because why would you want to be the one to take on Alec Guinness's legacy for a soulless corporate remake?) or dies a freak death between now and then. And also expect a piece of shit movie with a shitshow of a production if Disney Star Wars's track record is anything to go by.

I guess Episode 4 was a one-off... at least for now. This was one of their good episodes, since while Mary has a couple of catty moments, she directs them at Ahmed, which makes it work better. The previous cattiness I think was based on how hard it was to make the kids actually fucking do the show.

The kids giving a shit really helps with this episode, because that apathy from the previous episode drained the show throughout the whole thing. The kids fucking tried, and it showed in this show. You will see near tears of frustration in this one.
One could tell all three teams were going for the wins and disappointed when they didn't make it -- especially when the margin of defeat was close. The banter between Ahmed and Mary actually worked, but I hope they don't use this same shtick about his nickname every single episode moving forward or else it's going to get old very fast.

Very good episode, and the only thing they need to do is change shit up again soon.
Agrred. Small tweaks just to break up some of the more mundane, repetitive aspects would be an improvement on something that seems to largely work. I was actually surprised to see someone give a wrong answer. Still, it beg the question how many they remove in post-production and if they edit out questions where neither team correctly answers.

Figures they'd find some fucking way to shove that pirate in there...
Ahsoka needs to #MeToo Hondo after he had her detained and abused during the Young Jedi Arc.

Botnets and Disney Wars seem to go together like toast and jam. The This is Madness tournaments that were once held each March on the SW site abruptly ended without much fanfare after it appeared that bots (or someone who knew how to hack the voting code) appeared to be wildly manipulating the voting numbers during the final tournament that was held. Similarly, any content that seems weak on the surface or is widely panned/ignored by normies seems to conveniently get a boost in views or similarly-phrased SM comments shortly thereafter in an attempted to make it look better-received than it really was.

Sadly, I expect it's too :optimistic: for investors to know how to detect bots and the puffery/manipulation they generate to know how much of the touted support is artificial.

Anakin going from confused and brooding youth who wishes for answers to "generic swashbuckler #52,422 with hardly any dark leanings".
While I get your point here and agree in principle, I can think of two counterexamples off the top of my head where Anakin uses his Force-choke on Poggle the Lesser for some sort of information and again when he disapproves of Clovis getting a little too cozy with Padme.

People who think Maul is the most underrated Sith character
Underrated? No. underutlized/squandered in Episode I? Most likely. I totally get having regreats that Maul wasn't neither seen nor utilized more in that film, but using pure hatred as a means for him to survive a fatal strike was too over the top to be plausible.

Spot on in every note. And yes, Maul was underutilized, but I think they made up for it by having so much media explore his life up until TPM, as well as video games that featured him. Bringing him back in Filoni Wars was just too over the top and an early example of Filoni's overuse of cameos and movie characters.

Except that's literally it, he choked Poggle the Lesser once... Otherwise the character was nothing like in any other media, and whenever anyone pointed out his lack of dark moments they can only bring up Poggle the Lesser or the Mortis arc, which was the Son making him go dark for a bit (which was a shittier version of what Anakin went through in the final episode of Genndy Wars). Only other instances are some milquetoast Anakin x Padme angry moments. But even brief dark moments hardly change his drastic shift into generic saturday morning cartoon hero.

i thought it would be extraneous to say this in my last post, but I'll say it now because I think it ties into your point I've quoted.

Filoni's use of foreshadowing in TCW was absolutely horrible. Either he was heavy-handed in foreshadowing things that really didn't need it (such as Anakin's Force-choking enemies, both real and perceived, or the Mortis Arc) and chose not to foreshadow at all when it could have worked if done subtly at the right time and setting.

TBH, I think the whole focus on Anakin attempting to train a Padawan (Ahsoka) during TCW took away from developing what should have been the increasing inner-conflict he experienced from stresses of being a skilled Jedi and pilot, the prophecy of him being the Chosen One, and having to hide his relationship with Padme -- all of which pulled him in different directions at the same time.

It could have been interesting to have that be the last straw. She dies either because of a bad order that he or the order gave, and that really pushes him towards the dark.

I don't quite recall, but I thought it was George's decision to resurrect Darth Maul.

I don't quite recall, but I thought it was George's decision to resurrect Darth Maul.
From what I recall based on some interview with Filoni and Favreau, he claims George "made him bring Maul back", however another says it was a joint idea between Filoni and Lucas, but another says it was Lucas and another that Filoni made the pitch. Another issue is that it's clear Filoni has a personal attachment to Maul much like with Ahsoka considering he made him a major player in Aladdin's Rebels and Filoni has been known to be inconsistent with the truth at times, as some have noted during the Mortis arc, but George being the one to bring back Maul is something he would definitely do considering that it was his idea to bring back Palpatine for Dark Empire to raise interest, same with Filoni Wars since it suffered a major decline in ratings during season 3, going from like 4 million or so viewers during the first two seasons to just about a million or so in season 3, hence bringing back Maul worked to boost ratings. George later liked Maul's portrayal so much that he decided to have him survive after ROTJ, which resulted in him commissioning a game starring Maul that would chronicle his life and his descendant/clone/whatever. Regardless, if this was George's doing, Filoni pretty much went against him again by killing off Maul in Aladdin's Rebels despite George wanting him to live after ROTJ. Either, way it was an overall questionable move to bring Maul back, and Filoni's portrayal of the character didn't help much. Visionaries handled it better though since it leads to some speculation as to what "Maul" exactly was in that comic. There was also another comic "resurrection" of sorts via wraith shit, but even that was brief enough that it didn't really change much.

Finished Peraqus in KOTOR 2. It’s interesting to see the parallels between the beginning of the first game and the beginning of ME2 (prologue on a wrecked ship. Protagonist is brought back fromnear death/actually dead, they wake up on a space station overrun with killer droids) Overall I think Taris was more interesting in the stuff you did but Peraqus hasmit beat in terms of atmosphere. The whole “most of the Jedi are dead thing” works fine for the dark side ending of the first game but feels off coming off the light side playthrough and the first half of Revan where the Order seems pretty fine.

There was also his reaction to the Zygerian slavers and when he thought Obi Wan had been killed. But I agree, overall he seems like a completely different character compared to previous canon.
I'm actually a bit disappointed that they hinted in Mortis towards Anakin being a bad influence on Ahsoka, and then just completely glossing over this in any future media, turning her into freaking space gandalf

Both Peragus and Taris has the reputation for being chores to get through in later playthroughs, and this is true to some extent, but they're still some of my favorite RPG openings. I do agree that it's a shame that Taris gets deleted after the opening of the game is over, kinda nullifies every character and quest on the planet not related to getting off planet. Peragus probably did this better by just having killed everyone before you got there, and your only goal being getting off the rock while on the way piecing togheter how you ended up there and how everyone ended up dying horrible deaths.
Harbinger showing up as a ghost ship near the end was a brilliant moment, too bad there wasnt more time to make the environments more unique and interesting.

Peragus genuinely spooked me terribly the first time I played through KOTOR 2. I was just waiting for trouble around every corner and due to often being left alone I didn't feel like I had any back-up. Running into Atton felt like an incredible relief, you at least had someone to talk to who had the same aims as you.

After the first play-through I'd rather skip it now, it doesn't give you much options to finish it while you are also bereft of any good combat options. The dialogue is also similarly limiting. Taris however has never personally bugged me since its the first time you can actually interact with most of the core mechanics and start developing your PC.

My 3 big issues with Peraqus are

1. You don’t get your first companion until 2/3 of the way through the introduction (not counting the generic T3 unit in the tutorial) meaning if your PC character falls it’s game over (though thankfully the game doesn’t kick you back to the title screen like the first game). Compare this to the first game where aside from the second half of Endar Spire you have at least one companion with you at all times.

2. The game seemed a bit stingy with health packs in this section

3. The T3 section

Anyways from a narrative standpoint which characters should I take to which location (In RPGs I usually try to base my companion selections on narrative significance to a particular for area. For example in the Mass Effect games I take Liara to Noveria because that’s where you fight her mother, Tali on Legions loyalty mission because of her prejudice against the Geth etc)

Just gonna drop this live grenade here because why the hell should I suffer alone?

Five minutes ago I decided that I wanted to check out the initial reaction to the infamous "fart orgy wedding" among the speds at reddit, and thus I resolutely searched "star wars fart reddit" and found....this

No need to thank me. Here is some music to listen to while you peruse this piece of poetry just to take in the majesty of where this fucking franchise is at these days.
This was the best Star Wars literature since The Last Command.
