I think it's a case by case basis. I've known people who refuse to own guns because of expense, their unease of a firearm in close proximity to their person, or something like an unstable roommate or young child being around a lot.Something I don't understand about the US, and would appreciate an insight. Like, how armed is your average person? Does pretty much everyone have an auto pistol? A shotgun? A rifle? A tonne of ammunition? Or do people NOT buy these things, generally speaking? And if they don't buy these things, is it because of cost or an ethical consideration?
I once had a roommate who said she didn't want firearms in our living quarters because she suffered from some kind of mental illness (according to her) and then bitched the entire year we lived together because I kept my door locked at all times.
