Godzilla: King of the Monsters - Long Live the King

I decided to "finally" watch it yesterday. About ten minutes in I realized that I had already watched it at least once. I wonder how log it will take me to forget about it this time.

We have titles and plot synopses for the prequel comics to GvK: Godzilla Dominion, and Kingdom Kong. They'll be released March 30th, 2021, think there might be pre-orders available.

Dominion said:
A unique story that picks up after the events of the film Godzilla: King of the Monsters, where the Titans have risen and the reign of Godzilla has begun. As told entirely from Godzilla’s point of view, the graphic novel brings new insights into the King of Monsters: his habitats, ancient rivalries, challenges, and encounters with new Titans. As his new era of dominance is tested, a coming confrontation with another King looms.

Kingdom said:
A sequel to the graphic novel Skull Island: Birth of Kong and a prelude to the film Godzilla vs. Kong, the upcoming Kong prequel graphic novel, will follow a group of highly skilled military pilots gathered together on Skull Island to see who has "the right stuff" to take on a dangerous mission into the hollow earth. One of the pilots, Audrey, is haunted by the memories of a monstrous clash with one of Godzilla’s titanic rivals that left deep scars. When Skull Island is attacked by Camazotz, a bat-like Titan, Audrey must to come to terms with her inner demons, and finding his home newly threatened, Kong must rise to face this usurper that would plunge the world into perpetual night.

I'm more excited about Dominion, personally, especially since we'll get more chances to see the other Titans, but I really wanna see Camazotz some more. He sounds so awesome that it's kind of a bummer he might not show up in the movie proper.

>Little Godzilla goes trans

But it's not propaganda to sterile your children, you fucking bigots.

Also we're obligated to hate you, DapperShark, for tainting this thread further with this idpol bullshit. I know I was better off and happier for not knowing about it.

I'm definitely picking up those prequel comics cause I'm a dork.

As for the Little Godzilla trans video...they picked one of the absolute worst characters to push that with in the much reviled and often bashed Little Godzilla. Oopsie daisies.

Is Little Godzilla really that reviled compared to Minilla? I actually like Godzilla, Jr.'s story arc, that's why I got MATI about it.

The weird thing: Fans I've talked to are okay with Baby in his debut film, most fans love Junior for the culmination of his growth into an adult Godzilla, but hate Little which was sandwiched in between. I think its because of how obnoxiously cute they made it out to be when the previous movie portrayed it as looking more like Godzilla than Minilla did.

Maybe Little Godzilla is like the equivalent of the terrible twos, then? But on diabetes? 🤔

EDIT: Editing to post this YouTube comment here since I'm browsing through a Wikizilla video very quick, and I think this is a pretty cool, natural interpretation of King Ghidorah's influence I wanna save.

Playmate Toys 11-inch figures have been released--accidentally, thanks to WalMart. Kong looks great if this is based off the final design.

Looks like that Russian leaker was right and Godzilla and Kong will first fight on the deck of an aircraft carrier. Kinda hoping they
don't have a chained up regenerated King Ghidorah and the main villains are MechaGodzilla controlled by Ghidorahs remaining head and the World Serpent monster they teased in the previous toy leak.

I like to think this might be of the climatic battle, but yeah, that might actually be the first encounter since according to the leaks (particularly that toy leak back in April, was that the same Russian leaker?), Godzilla's plates shatter during their brawl and he needed to be fitted with something designed by Monarch.

Rumors are going around we might be getting a trailer at the end of the month, particularly in front of the re-release of Inception, but it's been rumor after rumor that I'm just exasperated.

I can see the critics complaining about the scientific accuracy of an aircraft carrier being able to hold two gigantic animals. Even though the concept of a giant monster in this specific sci-fi genre has been pretty lack when it comes to hard science.

There are fans are questioning it.

Going by the USS Gerald R Ford, her flight deck is 256 feet wide, and 1,092 feet long and can house 75 aircraft. She's 275,000 metric tons. Godzilla is 99,634 tons (unless he gained more weight, fatty) while Kong is at least greater than 158 tons, probably won't reach 1,000 (but we can use 1,000 to be on the safe side). In total, the two Titans are approximately 100,000 tons, and may be carried around by their own personal aircraft carriers.

I don't think they're going to use Ford as the specific aircraft carrier (though they might, she got commissioned in 2017), but needless to say, these ships are meant to be fucking huge and sturdy. They're apparently described as floating cities. There'll be some destruction, but I think the most damage will be the massive tidal waves they'll spurn from their brawl when they go overboard.

The rumor of a trailer airing in front of Inception is false, of course, but there's a couple pieces of concept art that's neat and I just wanna pass them along. I made sure to check the art book first, and I didn't see anything in it that looks like it was made by Ken Barthelmy.

Forbes has an article of the composer, Junkie XL, and he has something interesting to say when it comes to the making of the GvK score.

While some of his projects happen in a more traditional manner, such as Marvel’s Deadpool, others have been a happy accident.

“A perfect example is the Godzilla vs. Kong movie that is coming out next year,” he enthused. “I’m such a Godzilla freak. I have all the Japanese versions of the movies. At a certain point, just for s**ts and giggles, I wrote something for Godzilla. About two years ago, I met the director because he showed interest in me as a composer. I asked him, ‘Do you know I’m the biggest Godzilla fan on the planet, and, years ago, I wrote some stuff.’ He was like, ‘You’re kidding me?’ So we started communicating, I tweaked what I did, played it for him, and he was totally in love.”

“On Godzilla vs. Kong, I said, ‘I think we need the biggest bass drum on the planet for this score. I know the guy who can build it, what do you think?’ They just said, ‘Let's do it.’ So I said I want a bass drum that is at least eight feet in diameter,” he laughed. “The guy called me back, and he asked, ‘Is it okay if it’s only six?’ I said, ‘Could we do eight? Why can’t we do ten?’ The answer was, ‘Well, there’s simply no cow alive that has a skin big enough to cover for a ten-foot bass drum.’ So, we have to scale it down to eight.”

“It was worth the money.”

That's a big fuckin' drum.

Junkie XL is doing the score for GvK?! The guy behind this masterpiece of a blood pumping score?

Well, damn. Now the GvK soundtrack has the potential to surpass Bear McCreary's G:KOTM score (which was fantastic). I'm so freakin' excited.

Looking forward to all this! About the Godzilla one, it's nice to see how he runs his place now with Ghidorah gone and all the titans awakened. You only saw a glimpse of that in the credits of KOTM were it's suggested that he protects human settlements.
