Wuhan Coronavirus: Megathread - Got too big

Another article on situtation in Iran. It's really bad.

AP reports that US supplies of PPE are running short again. The Daily Beast reports on testing in Arizona. Tucson mayor says they may have to send patients to other states.

Here's the case and death count in Texas.

If there is one thing people should learned from this thread, from the very beginning, is the explosive, exponential growth of outbreaks. One day, you got a handful of cases, by the end of the month your digging mass graves.

The deaths so far are not that high, at least compared to New York. The real danger is if the hospitals get overwhelmed, which is extremely possible due to Texas being right next to a third-world country and border security being lax at best. Of course, it's hard to say how accurate the numbers are, but note the massive jump right around the time Texas started getting overrun with the virus. There were NYT articles back in May talking about how medical tourists would cross the border, call an ambulance, and get transported right to an American hospital.

Coronavirus expert says Americans will be wearing masks for ‘several years’
https://www.foxnews.com/us/coronavirus-expert-says-americans-will-be-wearing-masks-for-several-years (https://archive.vn/rZZrj)

“I think that mask wearing and some degree of social distancing, we will be living with — hopefully living with happily — for several years,” he said. “It's actually pretty straightforward. If we cover our faces, and both you and anyone you're interacting with are wearing a mask, the risk of transmission goes way down.”

Fuck off, it's bad enough people had to put up with this shit since March, they're not going to tolerate it for years.
What they're REALLY not going to tolerate is the destruction of their livelihoods. Everyone whose work or business was deemed "nonessential" is not going to meekly accept a job that the Big Tech-Big Pharma-Government complex has deemed suitable for him.

That is, unless multiple rounds of extended lockdowns break their will. If you have 45 minutes to kill, here's a video comparing VirusRegime to actual torture.

"Nonessential" is 2020's version of the term "kulak."

Ohio's already having local official push back on even our mild, but completely retarded, mask mandates. I'm pretty sure if DeWine said years you would actually see a governor getting dragged out of the capitol by an angry mob. Assuming the courts didn't absolutely ream the manlet in the ass legally.

Been absent from this thread for a fat minute now but just wanted to let people know Wisconsin is going to shit quick. I'm sure the rates of infection have already been posted as it's making national news at this point but I can confirm from a ground level that shits fo real. I called this shit awhile ago though, obviously when shit was flaring up everywhere else months ago Wisco wouldn't be hit hard because nobody comes to this god forsaken shit hole before may at the earliest. The direct competitor to my job has already logged several positive cases so that's fun.

We have upcoming blood pressure and other checks for our health care costs and I'm trying to push for covid testing to be included in order to keep people a wee bit safer but I doubt it will go anywhere. These are the same fuck whits that laughed at me in January when I was telling them how weird shit was going to get.

The last movie i saw at the theaters was sonic the hedgehog
Cinemas fucking suck. You walk down the aisle having to listen to popcorn crunching under your feet, you sit in a chair that's damp because some dickhead spilled his drink on it, the floor's sticky because that's where the rest of the drink went, you have obnoxious people constantly talking throughout the movie, there is always a family of tall people who sit directly in front of you no matter how many seats are available and you miss 5 minutes of the movie when you need a piss and can't find the bathroom.

It depends. I have my fair share of this and the other where everyone was easygoing with no issues. The bathroom issue remains... Just bring back intermissions if movies nowadays recently are getting beyond 2 hours.
I just miss theaters because well, I don't know, it's a way to connect with strangers for a bit. Most people laugh, get scared/laugh at someone who spilled his popcorn on a jumpscare, cheer, groan, end with "holy shit that was amazing/horrible", maybe talk a bit about the movie, and leave.
EDIT: Even goes outside out of the movie themselves too. There was one time I was visiting the cinema to get a ticket of some horror movie, some man with his children came out of Toy Story 3 and went "Don't waste on your money on this, its horrible".

Press F for those. It will just end up being drive-ins from now on.
Man I saw some shit on TV about how drive-in theatres are gaining popularity again, and that'd be cool and all if most cars nowadays came with those sunroofs. They interviewed a family hype to watch a movie outside finally, and the kids in the back were so short the seat blocked their view lmao. This is all so weird and pointless.

All of these made bearable now that they serve beer.
