If there is one thing people should learned from this thread, from the very beginning, is the explosive, exponential growth of outbreaks. One day, you got a handful of cases, by the end of the month your digging mass graves.
The deaths so far are not that high, at least compared to New York. The real danger is if the hospitals get overwhelmed, which is extremely possible due to Texas being right next to a third-world country and border security being lax at best. Of course, it's hard to say how accurate the numbers are, but note the massive jump right around the time Texas started getting overrun with the virus. There were NYT articles back in May talking about how medical tourists would cross the border, call an ambulance, and get transported right to an American hospital.
