Inactive Richard "Lowtax" Kyanka - Deadbeat (emphasis on "Dead") founder of Something Awful, forced out of his own community, on his second divorce, stuck his dick in crazy, "Birth Giver"

It's also around the last number we had for what he owed in taxes. He's mentioned being able to start over with whatever amount he's getting.

I can't see why anyone would pay that much for a hobby business unless they had a firm plan for making it profitable. That's nice car or boat money, not the kind of amount you spend on a hobby which comes with never-ending headaches.

That too. The question is if he owes the taxes or Something Awful LLC owes the taxes.

But again: Lowtax was making (now, net mind you) over $180,000 on patreon at his peak. Even if you are assuming punishing 50% taxes, in two years a $150,000 investment could pay itself off, and that's not including the reg & avatar money.

You are also assuming a sane actor with an eye on finances. Jeffery has been the unpaid webmaster for SA for a while. Scruffy believes in SA, and this is his chance to buy fame & respect & friends.

I'm pretty sure Lowtax is getting a deal worth six figures.
I'm just hoping he takes it in Buttcoin.

You know that odd thing about goons where they won't leave SA because they're stuck in 2002 and think the rest of the internet is perpetually nothing but the kind of retards you'd see on Yahoo and GameFAQs' message boards? Smug fedora atheism was the most insufferable thing about the kind of people that frequented those places, and that's a thing that drove them to join SA in the first place. Not that goons aren't overwhelmingly atheist themselves, but everyone from all over can agree that smug fedora atheists are forever insufferable.

Ironically, said fedoras have been supplanted by troons, which are a billion times more insufferable.

I think being stuck in the past is definitely part of it, but in my opinion the main reason they don't seem to talk about it at all (unlike race which they mention at every single opportunity) is that it doesn't fit neatly into the Culture War. I will explain.

I'm not as down on SA as the rest of you. I still post there from time to time so I'd be a hypocrite if I were, even today it still has a lot of content that I find funny and/or interesting, including from 'hysterical troons'. However, one thing that is absolutely true is that it has become completely politicized over time. That process started at least a decade ago, and at this point it just permeates everything despite occasional pushback from straggler goons such as myself - and I would say there are still quite a few of us.

Most goons are atheists and it makes logical sense to assume that fundamentalist Christians would be their natural enemy for various other reasons as well, but it's not that simple. They tend to be extremely online, and it's inescapable that many of the bad people on the Internet, Redditors, the alt-right, the Dork Enlightenment, etc. are usually rationalists and atheists who make fun of Christianity. Worse still, they occasionally even dare to criticize non-Western religions.

How do they deal with this? First, the important thing to understand is that every goon is implicitly expected to be a loyal soldier in the binary Culture War. All of your opinions are expected to align perfectly, both with themselves according to a preconceived pattern based exclusively on the current state of American politics, and with those of other goons, and you will be scrutinized constantly to see if that's the case. There is some ideological wriggle room as long as you're not too explicit about dissenting, but not much. So when it comes to something like religion, where there is not a simple black-and-white position to take that cannot be construed as being problematic in some way, rather than being individuals with their own personal, nuanced set of opinions who accept that the social world is complex, they choose to ignore the subject entirely.

Mom was the one sponsoring her application, and believed for some reason that also gave her power to demand USCIS throw her back over the border once she ran off for the shelter.

And she's supposedly a lawyer too. Imagine not knowing that's such stereotypically abusive behavior they literally passed a law specifically to stop all the scumbags who try to do that.

Hahaha he's so fucked. Vice is even more pozzed than Wired. Lowtax has been hitting the Benzos even harder than usual if he thinks this will be anything but a hit piece.

I didn't think the Patreon could drop any lower but he's apparently working on it. Even in the weird, miraculous (for LowT) event this somehow is positive, even that would just set off a firestorm.

That too. The question is if he owes the taxes or Something Awful LLC owes the taxes.

The question is whether the LLC even has any existence separate from LowT. He can't just treat it as a personal slush fund with no corporate personality, dump his personal debts into it and then walk away. And I'd be willing to bet he's done just that. I believe it is probably what is called an alter ego and is at this point just LowT and all debts it has are his.

Jeffrey should be really careful he isn't just buying some utterly fictional entity with no assets, or with only the site as assets, that will just have to declare bankruptcy immediately and sell off everything it has.

I'm wondering why Ashli decided to stay in the US. Could she not have moved back to Canada with her kid? Or would it be harder to get child support from LowT that way? Otherwise it doesn't make sense for her to stay because she doesn't seem to know anybody in the US besides Rich. I guess she doesn't have family in Canada because her mom is dead?

Keep in mind “starting over” to lowtax doesn’t mean looking for a regular job. He’s going to start podcasting and streaming again.

Much harder for her to pursue the divorce from over the border. Once she's left the US she probably won't be allowed back in unless she has custody of the Anchor Baby, who is a US citizen when she isn't.

Parents are dead and she can't just take the kid out of the country with no custodial order. Even taking her out of state can carry actual kidnapping charges. Sloane is a birthright US citizen, and may not have Canadian citizenship due to the fact she was born here. If it weren't for the kid Ashli could just go home and get a job there. She's not going to give up custody altogether and she shouldn't, so she's effectively trapped in the US and unable to work until her citizenship gets sorted.

Also, many people have chimed in saying that the immigrant can't do a damn thing in regards to getting their US papers sorted. That's on the sponsor. Lowtax and his mom kept Ashli's papers locked up in a safe and Ashli under their thumbs in an attempt to control her, which is so incredibly common that there's a special law that allows her to stay here under these exact circumstances.

If Ashli were as shitty of a person as LowT she would have just dumped the kid with him and left. She's staying for the best interests of their daughter.

Yes the KKK guys go to church all the time to talk about where the best rope or pickup trucks are for sale, but gee those coloreds sure do like religion too, they're quaint like that.

Also in the slow morphing of the Internet atheist fedora wearing neck beard. Is that troonism and the new leftist dogma is more like a religion in that it rejects the old dogma of "I fucking love science" when you have to denounce rationalism, empiricism etc because some member got confused as to why they are horny and failed as men, and put on dresses it just really shifts what was once there.

If you post that slugs for salt comic or gays for Palestine photo they mods just fucking lose it.

Birthright citizenship is idotic, yea, but I don't think it's relevant here, as the father is a US citizen.

That is birthright citizenship in it's truest form, aka citizenship is passed down from your parent as your birthright.

Most people are against what I would call "birthsoil" citizenship, which is merely based on where you were crapped out. It's pretty idiotic.

Oh yea, that's what I meant and that guy probably too. I've only seen it called birthright until now, since we don't have that here.

Yeah it is called birthright, which doesn't make sense to me in that context. How could it be your birthright when you just showed up?

Anyway, both types are called birthright citizenship, I'm just sperging here.

I'm really curious why Ashlii was so quick to marry him.
He made himself seem perfect and started incrementally being shittier to her once he got her trapped. That's the basic formula for every abusive relationship. It is hard to over state how charming they can seem. The scene in I, Tonya with the dove bars is a good example.

*in ever-increasingly-gayer warbling voice*

"I'M TELLIN' YA DICK, THE INTERNET OUTRAGE MOOOB IS JUST RIDICULOUS, ANYWAYS MY ANSWER TO THEIR INSANE BULLSHIT IS TO IMMEDIATELY STEP DOWN FROM MY OWN WEBSITE, SELL IT FOR A PITTANCE AND PRESERVE THE COMMUUUUNITY OUT OF LOVE AND ADORATION FOR MY COMMUUUUNITY WHILE THEY CONTINUE TO CALL ME A PIECE OF HUMAN SCUM AND VOW HOW THEY'LL CONTINUE TO DESTROY MY LIFE IN PERPETUITY NO MATTER WHAT I DO OR WHERE I GO, I CAN'T FATHOM HOW THESE PEOPLE JUST TOTALLY CAME TO POWER ON SA AND THERE IS JUST NOTHIN' I CAN DO ABOUT IT" lmao Lowtax you spineless faggot.
