Perhaps this is me being optimistic but I would imagine that despite her complete lack of life skills, Lainey may very well be doing her own period of self-reflection considering just how far shit's fallen from the "glory days" she had with Greg. If he is registered as a LLC/small biz the govt is just giving away piles of money via SBA loans. Greg could have probably got $50k for just filing out an application and sex dolls are a “business expenses.” Then he could have also fraudulently applied for unemployment and that would be giving him a minimum of $1k a week (the govt is giving anyone on unemployment an extra $600 a week and has allowed small business owners to apply if Covid closed their business, something Gurg would just lie about. This is the most likely answer, based on what we know. He always tries to sneak around and get away with taking risks in the "now" and worrying about it later. For example: the tax saga. He attempted to write off an entire house and multiple cars on dumb logic ("I drove YouTubers to my house in this Tesla!") and doesn't think about the consequences of his actions (tearing up the wetlands without worrying about potential backlash by either the HOA in his area or the government).

It'd be very in character for him to decide to take out loans and use his coronacheck on shit like this, because he sees it as an investment. Expecting to see big returns in OF money to pay off the big purchases in the future, and all. Greg logic would say that it's flawless and the career is paying for itself.

If it doesn't work? Write off the sex dolls as a business expense. If he gets in trouble again for attempted tax fraud? Blame TurboTax (or whatever service he switches to in the future) again.
