The thread itself is like almost everything I've seen from Art: Long, rambling, nonsensical, and utterly devoid of value. I have no idea why he thinks this is such a nice hill to die on other than a black man said "I don’t know who needs to hear this but if someone says “2 + 2 = 5”, the correct response is “What are your definitions and axioms?” not a rant about the decline of Western civilization."

I've seen so much of this 2+2=5 thing and it seems to be somehow related to dunking on white people. I've actually seen things like "imagine there's 2 factories each with 2 machines in them, and each has half the parts to build another machine. These factories merge and instead of having 4 machines they can have 5 machines, that's how 2 + 2 can equal 5."
I'm seeing very serious people say this shit, all in the interest in proving that mathematics keeps reminding us that black people are retarded and like making things up which is just as valid as anything. This is one of those things where people laugh when they see it on Twitter, but rest assured there are talks in academia about introducing this in one way or another.

To be fair, there are alternate number systems where 2+2 doesn't equal 4. Modular arithmetic with modulus 4, for example, has 2+2=0. The thing is, that the vast majority of non-mathematicians don't actually need to know any of them. Also, as far as I know, all of them were developed by Western mathematicians, so this bullshit about colonization has nothing to do with that; it shows that the SJW agenda seeks nothing less than absolute total control, to be able to rewrite even the most fundamental truths and replace them with their own propaganda.

Every civilization had mathematical knowledge, but true mathematics based on axioms and proofs seems to have been invented only once, by the ancient Greeks. (If anyone else came up with it, they left no record of the fact.)
For example, the Babylonians had a general notion of the Pythagorean theorem long before Pythagoras ever lived, but they never quite made the leap to proving it's universally true for any right triangle whatsoever.
As for "African math", the few times I've seen people attempt to teach about it, they typically just point to the mathematics inherent in creating African art and artifacts - things like weaving do have mathematical aspects to them in a sense. But they wouldn't have had any new light to shed on basic arithmetic or anything like that.
