Wuhan Coronavirus: Megathread - Got too big

The short answer: We have a democrat (((mayor))). Our republican governor is also making dumb overreactions but not as draconian. In the rest of state people are for the most part slowly getting back to normal.

We have had 1 death last month in the entire state from covid, and iirc he was in his 80s. People are over this, well except in the city you can tell when someone is very liberal. They are clutching their mask, watching their distance, and shaking if you look at them wrong. They really hate me not wearing a mask, but don't have the balls to say anything (medical exemption loop hole regardless, but the only 2 people who have asked me were grocery store workers stationed at the entrance, and they didn't give a fuck once I said the magic words)

There is an active recall out for one of the city counselors who voted for this. And another trying to form. These dipshits voted to extend our little hitler's emergency powers, again.

The city is fining the restaurant $300 every day he stays open. I really hope Mayor Berkowitz tries to shut them down even harder. Our community needs something to galvanize against! It's too easy for people to just drive up to towns outside of his influence to escape the crazy. I really feel for all the people losing their lively hoods so that safety theater can make a few corrupt politicians appear to have done something.
The restaurants are definitely not happy about it up here. Berkowitz has also been trying to shove through more homeless funding by spending the federal coronabux on new homeless service buildings all located within residential neighborhoods, rather than using the CARES funding to help the struggling businesses in Anchorage.

No feedback from any citizens, just pushing full force to create a new halfway house in an area where children play in the streets and people try and run their businesses. Pic related

What alarms me the most is how easily the general public has bought into the "shame your neighbor for not complying" narrative, and how gleefully they are enforcing it even within their own families and social circles. It's one thing if the government mandates something, quite another if most people willingly hop on-board and do the bulk of the work for them.

It almost feels like the same obsessive self-flagellation expected of SJWs. Perhaps it makes people feel like martyrs or heroes. It definitely makes them feel "intelligent" and "morally superior" to the heartless strawmen who dare to question the constantly shifting goalposts and confusing political rhetoric around the pandemic.

All of this really is a very successful appeal to emotion and mass paranoia.
I think there's something to the idea that it makes them feel like heroes or that they're actually doing something. I keep seeing people say shit like "those of us who stay home are the real heroes! It is only through our Herculean efforts that humanity will survive!"

It's annoying, but I think it's partially a response to feeling powerless. They want to feel like they're "doing something" even though they're just locked away in their pods watching Netflix and screaming at people on social media.

Hasn't big pharma been exempt from vaccine injury liability since Reagan?
You're thinking of the Vaccine Injury Compensation Program. Every vaccine sold includes a tax that goes into a trust fund. An HHS office hears claims of vaccine injuries and pays claimants out of this fund. There's a list of claims it presumes are valid, and if your injury isn't on the list, you can prove it by preponderance of evidence. VICP pays people who were genuinely hurt, and it pay litigious antivaxers so they don't become an even bigger burden on society than they already are. If your claim isn't decided in a timely manner, or if it's is denied, or if you don't accept the compensation awarded, then you can sue the manufacturer. But you have to go through VICP first, and if you accept compensation from them you can't sue.

Lo and behold, I believe you're right:

Research from Australia shows "with effective case-contact testing and epidemic management strategies ... children and teachers did not contribute significantly to COVID-19 transmission via attendance in educational settings." So you can show that to all your teacher friends who are wailing that we are killing them by making them do their jobs. (They will ignore it.)

The fucking arrogance of these morons has done more damage to our society than the Coronavirus ever did.

One virus that amounted to a bad flu, and suddenly the baby needs to be thrown out with the bath water.

Do these idiots not realize how bad a full blown depression could affect everyone, or are they being willfully ignorant?

That bottom drivel she shared is extra :lunacy: if you follow the "societal umbrella" metaphorical nonsense.

"They are dry because WE are holding up the umbrellas!" translates to "They aren't seeing the effects of COVID because WE are doing our part!"; which sounds to me like a dumb implication that every fear mongerer falsehood about COVID is true (mega-deadly, can kill kids, reinfection, yada yada) but its only not happening because good little sheeple are staying home and wearing their masks.

Dumb sperging
You are a child sex predator and a creepy old man.
Your opinion is invalid.

They straight up stalked two men and then not wearing mask, I wonder if they will go farther and kidnap them?
"Please put on this mask before you throw you in the back of this van."
"Ummm, no?"
"Look, we're not going to kidnap you while you're not wearing a mask, so just put it on so we can all stay safe."
"No."
"Dammit boys, we've been foiled."

I love the mask crowd constantly comparing themselves to the "home front" of WW2 and rolling around in the fucking flag to beat people in the head with their "patriotism" like a cudgel.

If I were living as a civilian in America in WW2 at least I'd have a fucking job at an armaments plant making tons of money with double shifts and overtime and places to go socialize at.

I also scoped that FB page out and I'm fairly certain it's a troll page.

Honestly I feel like a lot of them were self-quarantining even before COVID-19 happened.

Welp, one or two days and we got already 5 new pages...

I have no idea why conservatives keep defending HCQ.

We were talking about it before Trump even mentioned it. It was found not to be effective. Facts, not feelings.

Is there a NEGATIVE use of HCQ? I mean, think about it, Im no medical professional but if the drug could help in any way, then it should be tried. Its not like HCQ makes things worse if attempted.

Besides lets face it, I would rather have HCQ than Bill Gate's "mandatory vaccines"(TM)
or I dont know, just let my immune system do its fucking job, that works too.

It's just downright terrifying at this point how cult-like this mask shit has become. You can't go anywhere, online or real life, without it being shoved in your face like the authoritarian propaganda it is. The past couple days in particular really pissed me off, first with some worrywart relatives visiting and forcing me to wear a mask in my own fucking house and then I tried to watch a new YouTube Poop for some easy shit to laugh at for once and not a minute it they made a COVID joke and sentence mixed the dialog to say "WEAR A MASK!" (with subtitles just for good measure). Like something straight out of some subliminal messaging mind altering scheme.

It really does feel like I'm living in a dystopian hellhole where everyone's become completely brainwashed to follow the every whim of Big Brother. And as I've alluded to before, it's only going to get worse because now all the people in power forcing this crap know they can get away with even more restrictions on what the populace can and can't do. We've given them an inch by wearing masks (and shaming/cancelling any who don't). They now have the go-ahead to take the entire fucking mile.

Its what I have been telling people for a while now, these masks seem not much at the moment but this is all a test to see how much we are willing to accept when the goverment demands something.

I mean, by using the same mentality, what stops them from justifying worse things in the future? Like good old mandatory vaccines that have a VERY VAGUE content inside of them? But hey, as long they claim its to cure covid, then its all fine, am I right?

Im honestly worried this corona shit wont stop in this year and they will attempt to "create" more and more pandemics since "corona will mutate" (as if they know something we dont) thus we will need MORE measures and vaccines.

But lets be honest about one thing, my friend, how many of these people legit wear them because they actually believe they work? A lot of MFs I met say they use them because they dont want to get fined (because a good way to force an economically struggling populace to obey is to threaten them by taking more of their hard earned, and now more essential than ever, cash). I recall "Save the loli" mentioned that a lot of people are just terrified of getting economically butt fucked even more by their goverment so Im not sure if a lot of people are truly using them because they actually believe or because the goverment is oppressing (because this is what it is, oppression) them into compliance. Either way, both scenarios arent good, if anything, the latter is worse because it shows just how much power "fines" have over us and good luck fighting them in court without losing a lot of money and time (and probably losing anyway because the courts are biased and corrupt as fuck).

This is all a trial test to see how much of current society will take up the ass before (if at all) they will say "enough is enough".

How can you tell the lockdown must be immediately ended?

View attachment 1493509

The Federal Reserve wants to keep it going for at least another month.

Time to end it immediately.

Heh...Jesus fuck...Is there any doubt at this point that this is clearly motivated by politics and not actual science anymore? The goverment can now justify anything as "necessary" against Corona.
If they didnt create corona, they sure are glad it happened.

The goverment is not even hiding anymore.
"Lets see what society does if we do this...? And now this? Oh and this too"
Fucking experiments...

I knew they were going to demand another full scale lockdown anyway, but I didn't expect the reasoning to be this neck-snappingly stupid. It's one thing to just spew the usual "save grandma" rhetoric but to actually try and claim that this would be good for businesses when the last several months of this bullshit has proven the exact opposite?

Welp, here I am soft powerleveling again. I own a pizzaria (a rather sucesseful fancy one, thank God) and while we are "SURVIVING" these months, we clearly arent built to survive on takeaway and delieveries alone! The money meant to expand and franchise our brand is being used to keep ourselves afloat and our employers properly paid (because the goverment is more than comfortable leaving us in the dust). Its absolutely unfair and disgusting that the goverment is more than willing to let honest hard working businesses bite the dust to keep their narrative going. But then again, they did show no price is too high for them...

They are playing with our lives at this point, if this keep going, I assure you, MANY MANY MORE businesses will DIE! And many more lives will be ruined!

We are literally begging for the lockdown
I'm sure all those small businesses that've shuttered or are on death's door will be revitalized by another lockdown.

I swear to god, where are the fucking economists? Are they having a collective stroke over this suicidal prospect?

Oh fuck off with the economists, as if they actually helped at all. Most economists I have seen are just commies that are telling small businesses to "survive, its to keep granny alive!" or "make your delievery app". Fuck them.

Everything they have tried to hurt Trump has failed. Completely destroying the economy is their desperate last play.

I already said that this ALL happening in an election year isnt a coincidence. Covid? The Riots? They should clash and yet the left is more than okay with having both narratives.
And yet...
I know this is because they KNOW they will lose this election. This, my friends, is a "scourched earth" policy, if they cant win, the WORLD wont be allowed to win either. The right is gaining traction on both north and south america and yet both are being hit hardest by it in terms of the numbers. And both Brazil and US have what in common? Thats right, conservative presidents. Trump and Bolsonaro. It seems the more "right" the country is, the "worse" affected it is. Sweden is a leftist country and yet they are fine! Its almost as if they want to punish conservatism and covid is their weapon.

Yeah but sure, this is a "conspiracy" theory to any numb nuts...

When this election end in a probably tight victory for trump, the left will either double down on covid as punishment or maybe just throw in the towel, quit with this covid shit and focus on the next makeshift crisis.

There's been a lot of sperging recently about the re-opening of schools on the East Coast. Apparently people are protesting against the decision to re-open in September in New York, although I'm not sure exactly what those kids are supposed to do during the day while their parents work.

View attachment 1493671

I guess these masked protests are somehow "safer" than sitting in classrooms?

Oh fuck off...

When I was younger, parents said we should get sick with some diseases early on to create anti-bodies so it wouldnt affect us when we are older. That was basic biology.

What the fuck happened with just letting the immune system do its job?! Oh yes, because if kids came back to school and didnt get sick, that would go against the narrative, wouldnt it?

Also, Im sure these kids didnt choose to be there, at all. They would rather be at home playing video games or something and yet here they are, probably were forced by their parents or else they would get grounded. That girl is probably wondering when she can go home and play Ghost of Tsushima.

This is ultimately the cheapest tactic in the book

1596644584095.png

ignoring the fact that these people either hate their children or would be more than willing to abort them

Quote by Kashkari from the article:

“Right now, the U.S. can fund itself at very, very low rates. Congress should use this opportunity to support the American people and the American economy. I'm not worried about it,” he said. “If we get the economy growing, we will be able to pay off the debt.”

So apparently his plan is literally "money printer go brrr", and then after the lockdown, businesses will just operate as usual. Since the only thing a business needs to continue operating as normal after losing another 2 months of business is money.

Assuming these businesses will still be around when lockdown ends...

These people truly dont know how business and economics work at all besides "just print more money"

What alarms me the most is how easily the general public has bought into the "shame your neighbor for not complying" narrative, and how gleefully they are enforcing it even within their own families and social circles. It's one thing if the government mandates something, quite another if most people willingly hop on-board and do the bulk of the work for them.

It definitely makes them feel "intelligent" and "morally superior" to the heartless strawmen who dare to question the constantly shifting goalposts and confusing political rhetoric around the pandemic.

All of this really is a very successful appeal to emotion and mass paranoia.

Its a mixture of fear, oppression and appear to being heroes.

People have been this growing sense of meaninglessness over the past few decades over the weakening influence of the church. So they want to have meaning, meaning the goverment is more than willing to fulfill. This is what happens. People are afraid of their goverment, they are afraid that they will be butt fucked more if they disobey.

its commie tactics, they raise your children to sell you and your wife to their "real" father, the goverment...

Welp, time for me to keep my odyssey through the next posts

It was tried. We were using it. Some of my colleagues think HCQ will immediately kill people (it won't, as long as there's no long qt or cypd6 deficiency) and others think it's a miracle cure for COVID-19 (which it isn't.)

You can imagine where the political lines fall on that one.
