I apparently haven't worded my post well enough - but what I was basically trying to say was that weeaboo responses were age old run of the mill weebness that beliefs that anime is the supreme kind of animations we've heard for ages. Those are the same people that would lost their shit if they're pointed out that anime is just cartoon made in Japan. At least back then Anime vs Cartoon debates were just idiots trying to argue about trivial things most normies can just ignore, and most of the OCs made by the same kind of people who'd make 'SJW art' back then were just edgy emo designs that didn't pretend to be politically meaningful.

Though I'm honestly tired of how media and art 'commentary' has to be related to identity politics now, from film reviews and criticism to thing like fanart made by kids. You can just create a character who look a certain way, everything in your story has to point to representation and diversity. Most of the media that have been churned out recently has to be a story that symbolise identity group, instead of a story that tries to explore the personal depth of the characters, or talking about a universal concept of human conditions.

Because that commentary is made almost exclusively by failed and frustated filmschool and artschool graduates who didn't learn a single thing about their respective craft, never worked on anything and only came out the other end with useless critical theory knowledge and intersectional analysis that they need to shoehorn to everything. Thats why we get a million twenty somethings giving us thinkpieces like "derrida and late stage capitalism in the emoji movie" "What can Foucault teach us about the Harry Potter"
