Netflix's "Cuties" - The Preteen Sexual Objectification Equivalent of "Funny Games"

There's people who have been liberal their whole lives, who so accepted the idea of the "Fox News types" being the bad guys for so long that they can't handle the idea that things would turn out not to be that black and white.

I can sympathize to some degree as it wasn't easy for me to have that revelation either, but what kind of a coward can't admit the truth when it's staring you right in the face?

To them, it's not the truth, just more right wing lies.

They do seem to live in a bubble, they don't seem to believe you when you try to tell them about crazies on the left.

But the more time goes on the harder it seems to me like you could live in that bubble, everyone knows the kinda stuff Antifa is getting up to now, so you either agree with it or you're willing to overlook it, in which in both cases you're evil.

I'm not sure I would believe feigning ignorance anymore.

It's not a part of their beliefs, it's a part of their identity. If they aren't fighting the "fascists", then they're engaged in "privilege" or some other bullshit.

If you aren't aware it's probably easy to dive into the pitfalls. "The right is framing things as if you are the bad guys" "Trump is actually Hitler, we are the only ones who found it out, but everyone else is delusional." If all you read is mainstream stuff, you probably believe it. There's an explicit trust there that the MSM is going to always tell you the truth, it served them during their Degree or PHD, and it will serve them now.

Guys guys, clearly the people outraged by this are the real paedos, checkmate, gotcha, nya nya nya, Cuties is just a commentary on today's society.

Some are evil, they stay close to the position which they consider the most powerful, others.... are just brainwashed. I've talked to people who seemed completely reasonable people, then when you bring up certain subjects, it's like the entire personality you were talking to a few minutes ago just disappears.
If I'll need to make a guess, those people either don't understand what they're speaking for, with the average KF user having more knowledge on the insane intricacies of Social Justice. Or afraid of thinking on their own out of fear of being cancelled, since the subjectivism aspect of Social Justice means that the same action can be seen as either good or bad depending in the context it's done.

I get the feeling the trailer may of been purposely edited to generate a hate mob, and get a lot of interest. Only for it to turn out that it was misrepresentation and the film doesn't actually condone that behavior.

I also have this suspicion. The contrarian in me wants to actually watch the movie now (by yarrrrring it, of course) just to see what the hell is really going on. But then the realist in me reminds me that I've got better things to do and I don't really give a shit either way, I'm just here for the surrounding shitshow.

About that.....

On the other hand it could be good if done right and its looks like its only one episode.

Well we're only in the first half of Season 5. By the time it rolls round to mid-Season 6, BLM may not have quite the social dominance it does today. Arrow had its obligatory "special episode" the CW made them do on gun ownership and managed to pull off a fairly mature and neutral take on it (surprisingly). Hopefully Lucifer wont mess it up either. The show's never been horribly woke that I recall. Lucifer is bisexual - which is kind of unsurprising for the Devil - but still largely prefers women. Lucifer's brother Amenadiel is Black. Other than a couple of jokes where mortals do a double take at them being brothers (which Lucifer and Amenadiel are oblivious to), it's mainly just been a better-than-you'd-think police procedural.

Eh, while I'm sperging, I've watched the first half of Season 5 and it had no obvious social agenda that I could see. And actually is the best the show has ever been, imo. Something - maybe the extended time allowed for script writing due to Covid delays - has really allowed the writers to up their game.

I can be wrong here since i don't watch coming of age movies but is the general trend "your parents/family is wrong and your peers/society s right"

Thinking about it and it always seems to be that variation.

I wouldn't say so. The general theme of a coming of age film is learning to accept / deal with the realities of adulthood. Bridge to Terebithia is a coming of age story and I'm pretty damn certain there was no twerking in it.

You're thinking, I think, more of teenage rebellion movies. And they can go either way but are usually more basic wish fulfilment for adolescents.

I fucking hate people bringing up this defense, man.

So a film comments on the hyper-sexualization of preadolescent girls...by hyper-sexualizing preadolescent girls. Real classy.

It's amazing how many black women are defending this shit.
Tessa Thompson sucks so it's no surprise she supports it. She's undoubtedly had to suck and fuck her way into most of the roles she's gotten.

Also, trailer ratio update:

I remember when my younger sister loved a certain coming of age movie. She watched it repeatedly

It was rated PG. No parents are going to take their six, seven, eight year olds to see an NC-17 movie.
