KENOSHA, Wis. (CBS 58 ) -- An officer-involved shooting investigation is underway in Kenosha on Sunday, Aug. 23.

The shooting happened near 28th Avenue and 40th Street around 5:11 p.m., after officers were called for a "domestic incident."

According to police, officers provided immediate aid to the person. They were transported via Flight for Life to Froedtert in Milwaukee for treatment. The person is in serious condition.

A large crowd gathered near the scene following the shooting.

Kenosha Sheriff’s Department and Wisconsin State Patrol were requested immediately so that the scene could be turned over to an agency other than Kenosha police.

The Wisconsin Department of Justice (DOJ), Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) will handle the investigation.

The whole part of a plea deal is you cop to something minor and everything else disappears, and we know, the prosecution has to know, and his defense attorney hopefully knows that the chances of that are slim to none. So, in the wise words of Winston Churchill, "When you're going through hell, keep going." If he gives in, he's perma-fucked, end of story, but if he fights through it and gets the prosecution to either drop the charges or a jury vindicates him, he's won. And if he does get convicted... well, he'll probably be safer in prison than on the streets in that case.

And since you've mentioned politics, reminder that district attorneys are elected positions. They're obviously hoping that they'll get noticed by higher-ups and get appointed to higher office with this, but if they lose, and lose as badly as we Kiwis are hoping they will, plenty of room for a challenger to finally appear on the ballot who will fight for the locals as opposed to the out-of-town rioters.
