It falls apart if the person hearing it knows anything about Phil. He is a serial liar, about leisure time specifically, he has a history of seeding stories on Twitter to use as future excuses for his behavior, and this weekend is his wife's birthday.

If he had a real job and was feeding this to his boss it'd be immediately suspect. Would his boss actually be able to do anything about it if he had the time off coming to him? No, but this is the kind of thing that comes back to bite you in the ass come yearly review time which, not coincidentally, is the time that your worth to your company is evaluated.

Also not coincidentally, Phil at his yearly company review is a circumstance I'd give a testicle to sit in on.

I pondered this, although differently in that Phil is pretending to do something with Katherine when all she wants for her birthday is extra betabux and Phil to go away.

He’s definitely lying about the severity of his pain (if the infection is even real). I don’t think it’s real, but I’m thinking he is lying to get out of going out and doing stuff for Kat’s birthday. It’s confirmed she has friends that she went to a Halloween party with, and I’m sure they wanted to do something with her on her birthday. Phil never leaves the house or interacts with other people, there’s no way he wants to go out with Kat’s friends.

This ear infection is the perfect excuse, she can’t really prove his ear doesn’t hurt, he ordered and used the ear drops so it must be real. He even took time off work when there’s new releases.

So Kat goes and hangs out with her friends on her birthday without him, and he gets the day off from work to play mobile games on the couch alone.

As for his "earache", not only he's going to lose 2 days of income, but all the money he'll spend in expensive restaurants with Kat.
Having to lie about this is already pathetic, but he keeps embarrassing himself with every new Tweet.

He'll step up to retroactively save the missing streaks, just to have it count as one, and Phil to, a month from now, mention how badly taking a couple of days off hurt his income. It is The Whale's Burden.

It's part of the package with Phil being the drama queen that he is. The problem he is currently dealing with is, and must be, the worst problem he has ever dealt with in his life.
Tevin somewhat commented on this in his Paper Mario Overtime video, he treats his detractors like Dragon Ball Z villains.
"EvilAJ is LITERALLY a psychopath...but he's not as bad as the SoK!"
"The SoK is NOTHING compared to Tevin, he's a criminal!"
"Okay, Tevin isn't that bad but Memology NEEDS to be cancelled!"
He even compares games the same way.
"Okay I raged during Nioh but it was SO MUCH better than Bloodborne, you had a much better dodge in that game!"

The slightest bit of discomfort to Phil is the worst case scenario, so he has no frame of reference. So he has to embellish and exaggerate his current problem until he forgets about it 10 minutes later.

At this point 60% of his rhetoric is words and terms used against him that he's tried to leverage back against others. Of course it only highlights his lack of self-awareness and refusal to see how constructive some of our crap can be.
We've seen what happens when he tries to argue and banter on his own legs.

Jeez, what a double nigger.

Mature human male adult can't deal with an ear infection, which happens to spring up before the wife's birthday, and tweets into great detail about it like a fuckin' alien.

Does he want us to care? Does anyone care? I thought were mentally ill for giving a shit about his behind the scenes personal shit but here we are.

He went through this same process when he had the debilitating cold of his where he was pretending to be on death's door.

I found the part from his Thursday prestream where he mentions using the left over ear drops. Clipped from DarkDave's Mirror. Should start around 15:04. This statement he made on Thursday is in direct contrast to his tweets and excuses yesterday.

This shocks me. He comfirms he has 2-3 days worth of drops left over.
