Because relationships are complicated. Because relationships are not always between two non-mentally ill, stable people. I'm glad life has been so kind to you, but you're looking at this from the outside in, where it's easy to say "why doesn't she/he just leave?" Again - relationships are complicated, you can simultaneously be living the best and worst times of your life with someone. That's how it was with me and Shmorky. People who come from abusive family backgrounds really don't have a frame of reference of what normal, sane, non-abusive behavior is. That was also the case with me and Shmorky. People dealing with schizophrenia before they really have a handle on it with reliable medication aren't always firmly grounded in reality. There are always multiple factors at work, and the only people who really know exactly what goes on in a relationship are those two people.

The drawings - You cannot report someone drawing things in notebooks depicting non-human, (despite being humanoid and anthropomorphized looking) cartoon characters. It's a law that's been challenged many times, and a law I personally disagree with, but there's no getting around the '300 year old witch' clause. So if I report that, I look like the crazy lady. It honestly does haunt me in hindsight that I didn't do more, and I apologize for that. Like I said earlier, I'm vehemently against invading a partners privacy, I don't go through phones or rifle through belongings, but I just had to see what was in that room that was so off limits I wasn't even allowed to clean it. He had his personal laptop in there, but it was password protected, so I left it alone. To this day I don't know what the fuck is on there, nor do I want to.

I didn't engage in his fetishes in real life, that's why we slept in separate bedrooms, so I just turned a blind eye to that whole part of his life. I didn't think he was capable of physically harming someone in real life, since we were together virtually all the time, both at the office and at home (I didn't just blast Pink Floyd and research Jonbenet Ramsey and 9/11 conspiracies as Lowtax claims, I actually did use the computer to apply for jobs), and Shmorky never interacted with anyone in real life outside of Lowtax and his family, and Andrew "Garbage Day" Miller. He never brought a single local friend to our house. So I didn't make the jump that Shmorky was grooming/preying upon young women because he never had contact with another girl the entire time we were together.

The crux of the issue here though, is that when I got to Missouri I had known Shmorky for 6 months. Lowtax had known him for 10 years. I figured they must have had some kind of understanding for Lowtax to trust him for 10 years. It wasn't my place to start badmouthing the private business of one of his best friends that I had only known for 6 months. I was in the building the same time Lowtax was when the kids were over, and I regret not keeping a closer eye on what was going on in the game room (again, I was actually using the computer for work), BUT - at the end of the day - they were Lowtax's kids. It was his responsibility, not the rando hanging out at his office.

Sorry for the wall of text, but I'm not seeing how responsibility falls on my shoulders for not volunteering to sabotage their 10 year friendship, or watching over the kids of a man I met 3 weeks ago. I know, it's always in everyone's mind whenever something like this happens, blaming yourself and others for not 'seeing the signs' and intervening in hindsight, but if life worked like that in that perfect world scenario than these things never would happen.

But in Lowtax's case, it's pretty much the embodiment of "If everyone you meet is an asshole, the problem might be you." YOU burned bridges with every good person you knew and kept yourself surrounded by degenerate assholes who you blindly placed your trust in again and again. You put E-girl strange over the welfare of your children. You sought out mentally ill women over and over so you could control them, and then retaliated with physical violence when you lost control. The difference between me and Lowtax was he had kids that would face the collateral damage from every irresponsible, ludicrous decision he made. And he never seems to care every single time it happens. Not to mention the fact he, you know, goes out of his way to ruin the life of every woman he gets involved with.

Lowtax's married life is basically one those videos you'd see in the 90s self-help VHS craze about 'what not to do to your children while going through a divorce.'

I know it's so fucked up to say, but those girls might be better off if the guy just OD'd. At least the last image they can have of their dad will be before he goes full skid row. Let them get a stepdad that will actually raise them, and they'll think of Lowtax as nothing more than the asshole who gave them life, but not the man who was their actual father.

And the paranoid schizo thing - again that's a case of being on the outside looking in at something, but I completely understand, you're not going to know the inside and out of that unless you've actually experienced it. People who've never suffered mental illness (I'm talking about actual schizoid, psychosis mental illness, not 'muh sadbrains') don't realize that 'getting help' is not a magic wand that has you sorted out within a couple months. For all our advances in medicine, we still know fuck all about how the brain actually works, and 'getting help' for full blown chronic psychosis is a process that can take years of trial and error with different medications, and most of the time just reaching an age where you know yourself well enough to control it better. I don't think my head was screwed on straight until I turned 30.

So I guess it makes perfect sense why Lowtax would seek exclusively young, 20 something women. Nobody has deep seated mental illness completely sorted out at 25. It's yet another control tactic. Because underneath all of Lowtax's bipolar bullshit is just a terrible person. Lowtax had every chance in the world to get help and make an honest attempt at working on himself. He had the best healthcare money could buy. He could have turned around his life at any moment. Butcha didn't. And that's why it's fun to laugh at you. Because there's a special kind of schadenfreude that comes from watching a man finally fall into the grave he's been digging for 20 years.

Not saying I turned my life around either, but the difference is I don't go around hurting people. Say everything you want about me being an evil nazi, I don't use mental illness or disability as an excuse of why it's okay to beat women. I don't take advantage of vulnerable people. I don't starve my own kid to spite a woman I cheated on. I don't ruin people's lives by filing frivolous lawsuits against them. It bothers me because that's the one thing I could never understand about leftists. The idea that someone's words and opinions can be a "form of violence" to the point where they're worse than someone who employs actual violence. So yeah Lowtax, screech about me being literally guilty of genocide if you need someone to dump on. I always assumed he was dead. I knew nothing about him, Lowtax never spoke a word about him. If he's not dead I'm assuming he's divorced with Momtax and no longer in the picture, and/or had some kind of falling out with the family. Either way, anything in Lowtax's life that requires at least a 10th grader's level of responsibility falls on the shoulders of Momtax. I believe it when @Mormon BPD Cokewhore said if Carol was to pass away Rich's life would crumble to ashes. Carol is probably the reason it took this long for Rich to finally screw the pooch. She managed all the "adulting" in his life, ie money management. Lowtax is someone who got rich by accident. There's a reason you see so many lottery jackpot winners going completely broke 5 years later. She used her status as a lawyer/prosecutor to intimidate Lowtax's victims. Now she's all he's got. And it's never a good position to be in when you're over 40 and your life is hinging on a parent that has already had a bout with cancer.
