I think it's because the modern trans madness...
  1. grew out of feminist institutions (Gender Studies departments) in the US,
  2. then spilled over into normie institutions (corporations, media, politics) in the US,
  3. then spilled over into normie institutions in the UK and Euroland,
  4. and only then became something UK feminists were seriously confronted with.
US feminists were "ground zero", so to speak: For them, it was a takeover from within, and due to their victimhood- and cancel-culture they had no resilience against that. Any feminist who even so much as asked questions, was ruthlessly unpersoned by her "sisters". So they all folded and welcomed their new girldick overlords.

But for UK feminists, it was something that clearly came at them from the outside - something that the normie institutions wanted to push on them. And against external threats, feminists do have some resilience. Enough to, at least, cause a schisms that left a sizeable contingent of UK feminists entrenched on the TERF side.

Buying something from a TERF has the highest satisfaction to safety ratio of any terf-thing you can do. If I wanted a freshly concaved skull I'd run out into the streets with this mentality, but voting with my wallet is still very satisfying.

I've always loved how her coming out as a TERF managed to hit delusional trannies in the gut, particularly those obnoxious fans who tried to re-write her own books. "Hermione is a black trans latinx!" They can kick and scream, make all the poorly-drawn fan art in the world just to be contrary, but nothing will ever change the source material or the writer's conviction. (And good on her for not caving in to their demands.) No more going to that Hogwarts fantasy head world safe space or whatever the fuck. Welcome to reality, you overgrown babies.

Errr. Get ready for your world to get rocked, bud, but not only did Rowling support black Hermione but she even tried retconning the books to say that Hermione was never white in the books to begin with.

Pretty sure she never confirmed any of the characters to be gender blobs, so there's that.

I'm torn between getting the audiobook or the dead tree edition. I do read books, but I've got too many on my to-be-read pile as it is, and 944 more pages? Bruh.

On the other hand, there are certain quirks in her writing (or at least there were in the HP books) that are easy enough to skim past when reading, but annoy the shit out of me in audio. Maybe she's finally got over them? I have a couple of Audible tokens to throw away, so I guess I'll find out.

It's just one moment she's the champion of the progressives who supports the LGBT+ movement, says yes to diversity and has their books become the Bible of the young progressives who cite verses proclaiming Trump to be Voldemort. The next moment she's not only saying points commonly found in TERF movements but she's dug her heels into the ground and wrote what is a thinly veiled attack on individuals who identify as transgender.

It's definitely strange and not something I thought I'd see.

She still is, which is what makes all of this so funny. She has spent the last decade tripping all over herself to go back and retcon the books to be "more diverse", arbitrarily deciding some meaningless character was secretly gay or black for pats on the back, she's a huge feminist who runs several programs that focus almost solely on women's issues, she's got TDS to a critical degree, but she just doesn't have the same belief on this one issue as the psychos want so they want the baby, the bathwater, and the bath itself thrown the fuck out.
