Why doesn't Trump have carefully staged, focus group tested photo ops to try to prove that he's actually human like the usual lizard people who occupy the presidency?

In this case, the TDS comes from being desperate to portray Trump as a failed business man. Mostly they're quoting huge losses on the books, which is how he reduces taxable income. There's a lot of doom-mongering over some of his debts coming due in the next few year, totaling "hundreds of millions of dollars". Other bits are tracking the "millions" he made from hosting Miss Universe in Moscow in 2013, which is naturally viewed as a slam dunk mUh rUSsiA proof.
Also: hope springs eternal in the TDS-afflicted mind.

In blue states? Not unless Trump wins and puts the pressure on them to knock their dictatorship antics off. Here in Michigan, not only is Whitmer digging her heels in on the mandates, but the pro-mask/virus propaganda's actually gotten worse as the election nears. There's no end in sight, and she's succeeded in brainwashing a fair amount of people into buying this as "THE NEW NORMAL" and blaming Trump for it.
The Dems will never drop this crap unless they're forced to.

He won the US Presidency spending something like one fifth of the amount on campaigning. And people are still like "TRUMPS A FAILURE, DON'T YOU SEE?!?" I'm like Jesus get a grip. Why do find some real reasons to counter people with? Why does it have to be "His STUPID WALK, the STUPID WAY HE says things, HE'S SO DUUUUMB, HE'S A BABY"

Scanning through responses on Twitter (yeah, I know), the pro-Trump people seem to get it, even if they don't use the right terms. The anti-Trump people focus on the losses, because they really need to call him a failure.
I think the $750 is just the eye-catching, tone-setting headline the NYT used. No one is really confused why his income tax is so low, they focus on other bits to support whichever narrative they want to push.

I've said this before and I think it's fairly true: almost every rational critique of Trump comes from people further right than him.
Because when it comes down to it, Trump is a New York Liberal. He likes the gays, he doesn't care about immigration as long as it's legal, he's all-in on letting black criminals out of prison, and he loves Israel. The reason why he seems so right-wing to our country now is because we're basically living in bizarro world where we had nearly a lifetime of back-to-back neoliberal globalist Presidents who didn't give a fuck about the country at all. So even the barest hint of national pride (which Trump certainly does have) is considered "far right."
In any non-Anglosphere country he'd be center-left or center-right.

I'm trying to find it again, but a friend of mine from Poland linked me an article (or a forum/reddit post? I don't remember) early in the year where someone listed Trump's policies, achievements and issues. The catch is that the author of the article anonymized everything (including the nation he presides over), ignored the "WE'LL GET HIM THIS TIME, WE SWEAR" fauxtroversies and didn't use any of the media buzzwords that are usually thrown at him. Trump's name was nowhere to be found.
And with that, he sounded like a completely normal, fairly competent run-of-the-mill socially-liberal-fiscally-conservative leader with a focus on diplomatic solutions and internal development, and the occasional funny slip of the tongue. Trump's image is almost entirely a result of the barrage of libel being thrown his way for the past five years. Without it, he'd be as inoffensive as pre-9/11 Dubya is remembered as being. A flamboyant and occasionally crass businessman everybody knows is crooked to some level, but not someone you'd have any reason to hate unless you were a complete radical to begin with.
