Yet as was mentioned upthread the devs gave him a completely inaccurate name for his supposed ethnicity and nothing about him as has been revealed so far stands out as particularly Italian. It really goes to show that these POC activist types give zero shits about the various cultures of Europe and broadly generalise an entire continent as boring privileged yt. So much for Mediterraneans being the “spicy whites”.

That is honestly more in touch with his stated heritage than the entire rest of the cast combined.

I am just curious as to how boring he will be made because he is white, will he be racist and how bad will other characters treat him just because he is white? The general trend is "black as coal with slapped on extra ethnicity". Anoki is into cosplay so xe's a weeaboo. Also mentions kintypes on that crappy bio. But that's probably gonna be excused by some Native mumbo jumbo that doesn't even apply to the tribe she is from.

Stepping over eggshells all day so Anoki won't be offended about her genderfluid nonsense or her racism against whitey must be tiring. No one would stay friends for long with her if she were a real live person. But it's pre-release! now is the time to tweak that attitude and make Anoki a better character!

Another thing I’ve noticed about these devs and the woke movement in general is how America-centric they are - they make a big deal about being black and cling to some vague concept of African heritage but would probably struggle to name a single African country if asked. Slavery was obviously horrible and not worth defending in any way but for all the ways these people act like they’re somehow the enlightened ones due to “lived experience” they know little of the world outside their country of birth.

And something tells me Anoki is going to be kin with some fictional character (but with the name changed ever so slightly so devs don’t get sued). Ya know, that age old Native American tradition of identifying as a Naruto character.

But yes, their worldview, like all US SJWs (and even quite a few non-US ones) is narrowly defined by American culture. It's why they don't understand anything about other cultures except the surface trappings - cultural appropriation is just them saying 'don't wear that dress, make that food, do your hair that way'. They don't know and don't really care about the character of other cultures - everything is only skin deep to them.

They're very good at ignoring the cultural imperialism and narcissism of insisting all other cultures must be seen through the lens of their perspective of American culture, though. But they don't ever acknowledge their authoritarian desire to make the world conform to their views.

African blacks are known for having complete disdain for American blacks, as an example. I'm betting that will never come up in this game, though; no legitimate criticism of the woke premise allowed.
