I stupidly decided to post that to show I had served and promised to post the most recent DD-214 when I got a copy from the archives (I had given the last one I had to the police department for a job, thinking I had another). I never provided an "updated" copy of the commissioned one because around that time I had many of those individuals talking about going after my family and I decided not to do it. You know, the only CWO-5 I ever met was the detachment commander for us at the School of Music at Little Creek. Laid back guy. Never met another. My girlfriend's father--a former Marine himself--said that if he had stayed in the warrant ranks instead of going commissioned he'd have retired at 20 years as a CWO-4 or CWO-5 and pulled in more in retirement than an O-5 at 20 years. Staffing agencies would be willing to overlook some stuff, but you'd have to find the right one. Night shifts at 7/11 could help build up a year of stable employment which would help a lot.

Clearly being a white male is the least of the guys issues, but it just closes off his chance of even being someone who is simpy used to meet a quota.

Listen, I've no clue what a felony or DUI conviction in the US has as an impact on driving jobs - I was just thinking what would Ralph be fit enough to do if he was sober. That wouldn't give a fuck about his online antics, and would keep him away from the sort of direct criticism he can't handle for most of the time he is working. A driving job would do that - but he's even managed to fuck that up.

Someone mentioned working in a call center, and I think that this would be a possibility - but again, could Ralph deal with shitty customer's, overzealous, wanky managers and the tedium of the job? I doubt it.

Even doing "night shift" as a part-time job is a good idea to help build up something in that resume. Large blocks of unemployment don't look good for anything paying more than minimum wage. The bare minimum to have a job is six months, but you'd want to aim for 12- to 18-months to cover your bases and show you're committed long-term.
