Western Animation - Discuss American, Canadian, and European cartoons here (or just bitch about wokeshit, I guess)

And INCREDIBLY faithful to the original source material. And I don't just mean to the original Ducktales cartoon, I'm talking about the comics with Scourge McDuck and a little bit of the Saturday Morning cartoons of Disney.
Do they follow Don Rosa's the life and times of scrooge mcduck?

They’ve been fairly consistent in bringing in all kinds of stuff from the comics, the other Disney Afternoon shows from the 90’s(the kids from Tailspin are adults now), ect so I’m sure they’ve pulled elements from it at least.

Like I said, it's because they didn't get any of the original writers back. Slappy was voiced by one of the writers, Sherri Stoner.

What possible good motivation could there be for not bringing back any of the original writers?

Myself, about the only positive comment I can make on the New Animaniacs is that the character designs look a bit sleeker and streamlined compared to the originals, which looked vaguely like something out of a Canadian cartoon production.

As good as the animation was, though, Animaniacs isn't remembered mostly for that but for the absurdly good writing, considering the origin of the series.

I kind of have to wonder that myself, since last I checked, several of them are still writing for animation. Only one I could've seen them not bring back is Earl Kress, but that's only because he passed away a decade ago.

A couple are retired too.

I guess most Nickelodeon cartoons are gonna be CGI from now on.

They had two CGI shows in the past and stopped afterwords. There going to try this shit again after such a long time?
I mean, really. Jimmy Neutron was the biggest success of their 3d shows and even then it's legacy as a franchise ended with the awful spinoff "Planet Sheen". It was no spongebob. Notice how they don't even have him in this poster yet they have the rugrats and the god damn baby shark.

But it's not supposed to be all their CG shows... and what have they been doing with him lately?

My point being that their old CG shit died a slow death yet they're acting like converting all their traditionally digitally animated shows to puppeted 3d is somehow going to rake in the $$$.

(Got ninja'd while writing this, whoops) I'm pretty sure the shows featured in that image are supposed to represent the upcoming lineup of new Nicktoons, not a general representation of CGI Nicktoons. If that were the case, they'd have to acknowledge that Tak and the Power of Juju and Fanboy and Chum Chum exist, which I doubt Nickelodeon will do any time soon. (Sidenote: Fanboy and Chum Chum actually had fairly decent animation for a TV-budget CGI cartoon. Yeah, the character designs are a bit polarizing, but it was alright in motion. I remember it looking more polished than the uncanny fever dreams that the older CGI Nicktoons were.)

Speaking of that image, what's up with everything besides Kamp Koral and Rugrats? I recognize Big Nate between Phil and Lil, but I can't quite remember if there was news of a cartoon adaptation. I think there may have been, but that still took me by surprise. (Also lol at the two random black kids conspicuously placed front-and-center. They look like characters from a Nick Jr. show, so it'll probably get a white-guilt-ridden journalist or two to talk about it and then immediately fall off the radar for anyone who's not a toddler, a Karen with toddlers, or a person with the mind of a toddler.)

Has Eek! The Cat and Thunder Lizards been mentioned yet?

The latter had these 2 cavemen named Bill and Scooter. Also these apes who thought their evolution was finished - and who looked down on said 2 cavemen.
