More TDS and “Coup“ ramblings from Quintion
Is almost funny that the only person that keeps bringing up what happened back in 2018 is Quinton himself. I think most outsiders think that any kind of "hate-following" of Quinton is milking his "Here's the thing..." rant but even the memes about it stopped a while ago and before this Q wasted 14 minutes justifying himself back in the DC interview.
Something that has been marinating in the back of my head for a while is that, in the words of Da Trumpster, Quinton is very low energy. When I type this I don't mean that I think his whole lefty persona is an act for views or even money, I do think Quinton wipes his ass in the morning thinking about how this year's general USA elections will turn out; when I say he is low energy is that he gives away an aura of just doing it because he feels he has to more than for personal initiative. Everyone in this thread has their own headcanon as to what really made Quinton decide it was necessary to be so explicit all of a sudden, because truth be, everyone knew he disliked Trump he just had to make it into a personality. At the start of this thread the theory was that Q was into Lindsay Ellis, then it was Contra, then Jebby; Q himself has changed the story two times and likely won't keep his story straight if asked again. I even would accuse Erik from Internet Ettiquete because he is like his older brother figure. Truth is that it doesn't matter because all of those people are more successful than him and even in their worst grifts seem more sincere.
What I am trying to say is that Quinton Reviews is the Jeb Bush of YouTube, the Dan Nainan of media reviewers and the Ben Glieb of media essayists. He is breadtube's Latza minus the prospect of working in the industry. He is like if Oancitizen, E-Rod and Linkara fused into an unholy abomination. Not matter how current he tries to be he feels like a relic from ten years ago. Not matter what he does, not matter who he brings to his channel, not matter who quote tweets him, he is always the man outside looking in. Is fitting that Quinton adores Garfield so much, both are nothing but comfort food for the people that bother to check them out because they were never meant to be funny or entertaining.
This might come up as very harsh critiques but I can assure you I don't mean this with ill will even though I think Q is well past the point he could have redeemed himself in any way. I don't like the modern encarnation of media essayists and """good media criticism""" but that doesn't mean they can't produce something good or at least watchable. Quinton can't make anything to save his own life and it would be ok if it weren't for the fact that he is such a cunt about it. He likes to say he has changed but he just rebrands: he thinks analyzing a movie is just watching it once and getting personal about minor production details like any angry reviewer would, he tries to moralize media like a breadtuber, he mocks media he doesn't like with minimal editing like how anti-sjws used to do. He likely started with the hyper specific movies he covered because he was trying to respect the rules the CA reviewers had of not reviewing stuff other had reviewed. Hell, as much as he said he hated commentary Quinton displays all the traits that are killing the commentary community of trying to play moral highground and pushing a narrative.
You would think that if Q hated controversy so much he would just stop mentioning it but he thrives on it. He might as well be trying to get on the upside this time of political sperging because he thinks we are about to see a blue wave. I'm not american so I don't give a fuck what happens besides how much milk Q keeps producing.
So why I bothered to write this much then? I was searching excuses to post yesterday and found a tweet by Big Joel bragging about his analytics to which Q responded showing his that are quite the opposite. Whereas Small Henry is thriving for his autism Qoomrade Qlinton has barely grown in almost parallel fashion. Only one reply caught my attention and it was about a fan saying that Quinton should be happy because "no good channel is free of controversy", instead of "great content not always receives the attention it deserves" which, to me at least, is a bit of a freudian slip. Once this electoral cycle is over all the political channels will be hit hard and, in all likelhood, Q would be hit harder unless we see some changes.
To cap this rambling rant off I would like to, more than recommend, give alternatives since allthough
Good Media Criticism: Kiwi Edition is filled with leftists that fucking hate Trump we can always go deeper into the rabbit hole of non existing intellectual masterminds. This time is special though since its the turn of Quinton's friends that are better than him.
1) Big Joel, Patricia Taxxon and Jack Saint: The trifecta of autismo. I picked them together because they do te same thing: they unironically read marxist undertones in kids movies, so pretty much what Q does but they are more entertaining because they can commit to the stupidity. Half human, half weasel, Big "Small Henry" Joel has so galaxy brain takes as his marxist Dreamworks miniseries and his own vague ideas about how the skeptics disbanded that sounds like fanfiction. Jack Saint made a video on eugenics in Cars in which he acknowledges how stupid the idea is mid video and defended Cuties. And Patricia Taxxon sexted Vaush. All of them, much like Quinton, are the laughing stock on the EFAPspergs and similar intellectuals.
2)
Sarah Z: Alongside Jebby Nicholson the only biological female that has come to smelling distance of Quinton. Her brand of essays is repetitive and shallow but it has a flair comparable to that of Aydin Paladin when she isn't simping, being very analytical and fact oriented. Sarah is what happens when a tumblrite goes to college and graduates having works that are best enjoyed when you are high on pot or life. In case you didn't notice, her video Bad Media Criticism is the reason this segment is called like that.
3)
Garf Gab: I was going to recommend Wyatt sooner or later because considering that most people that know about Quinton but aren't too deep into the lore just think he can only ever talk about Garfield. Wyatt has a channel in which he reviews every Garfield cartoon that has ever existed in detail and yet he is slimmer, happier, healthier and has a girlfriend. Go watch it if you actually watch Quinton.
