Missed this came out yesterday. I really enjoyed the first episode. The overall flow was more consistent, I liked finally getting to see what a person looks like as a human vs as a denizen of Hell, and while the new VAs aren’t as good as the originals, they’re still good. No one sticks out as badly acted or anything. Looking forward to more.

I have to agree with vivzie on one thing. You could be a goody goody person who plays by all the rules and gives everything into playing nice. But one little slip where you snap and lose control and boom! St peter and all the other big shots up there say fuck you and send you to live with all the Epsteins (didn't kill himself) and jihadists who blew up busses on Jerusalem. Truly the christian God can be kinda a dick sometimes

That's one theory. But consider this: What fucking power do we have to decide what we or others do and do not deserve? The teacher said she didn't deserve to go to Hell for a life of goodness and one murder-suicide but look at her now: she STILL wants people dead! Her damnation wasn't about what she did but if she'd do it again. And she did it again. Won't biblethump too hard but I believe God is a forgiving God. And i'm more than sure God doesn't appreciate mortals or otherworldly entities fucking with His plan for mankind by taking matters into their own hands........oh shit that may come into play in Helluva Boss.

You'd be pisses off to no end and be a different person if you died and woke up next to Jeffery dahmer and ted bundy in hell, turned into a living monster only to latter learn the person who wrecked your whole life the target of the revenge you wanted is not only alive but being praised as a "hero." I honestly could see the "client" in this episode later showing up in hazbin as someone more willing to go along with charlie's plan. There's a big difference between failed murder suicide for revenge and dying of a drug overdose after a day of making gay porn. (No seriously that's how angel dust died and explains a lot about him in death)

I'm late to watching this, it's a huge improvement over the pilot without the weird flashback-inceptions. Millie's new voice isn't that bad, I actually kind of like it more. Stolas is painful though. The guy isn't bad at voice acting, just personally like deeper voices.
Also, Hell's backgrounds aren't overly saturated red and purple! Fucking thank god.
Now if only Vivzie and her team keep up this quality without sperging too hard. Slapping my dick on wood.
Anyway thanks for coming to my cringe episode review posted on New Zealand social media.

Not to mention the suicide part of the murder-suicide was done specifically out of guilt and regret for her actions, and the mistress in question turns out to by a Hedonist serial-adulteress whose entire family is a bunch of Texas Chainsaw Massacre-style lunatics who make furniture out of human skin. And took the teacher’s job to add insult to injury. Having a psychotic break brought on by personal betrayal that ends in homicide looks quaint in comparison.

Plus it seems like the seeming lack of nuance in relation to who gets sent to hell in HH/HB’s universe is a one of the big overarching themes of the former. My guess is that heaven is either going to be a commentary on purity culture where it turns almost nobody gets into heaven because the standards are impossibly high, or one of the big questions HH will be about is what the point of eternal damnation is if you can’t prove that you’ve learned anything from it. Or both.

Of course these are comedies first and foremost so it’s probably pointless to read too much into it.

I'm semi reminded of south parks portrayal of the afterlife. Hell was still a place of fire and brimstone...and some torture but really in his off days satan was willing to throw luaus and halloween parties because really everyone who wasn't a Mormon ended up in hell anyway. And even then the Mormons heaven was just... boring.

Granted we have yet to see hh/hb's heaven so we don't know yet if it's really all that's cracked up to be but who knows. Maybe vivzie plans on portraying it as full of stuck up snobs and the only humans are the religious fundies who in the old days (ironically) would have been the people trying to get her show canceled and not crybabies on Twitter triggered over her refusing to put any trans characters in her show.

Eh good, bad one thing we can all agree on...it's still better than magical girl friendship squad.

I mean, you ain’t wrong but that’s such low bar to overcome. It really does seem like we’re in a new dark age of animation, with only a few bright spots here and there.
On the topic of heaven, this is why I’m looking forward to CHERUB being introduced in the upcoming episodes. It’ll be our first look at this universe’s version of heaven and let’s us know what to expect later on.

Yeah I really want to see the CHERUB episode, also you just reminded me about the other preview we got with Stolas and his daughter and honestly I don't know if the new voice works as "Dad voice".

Wait what’s CHERUB? I didn’t see anything about but from your statement I’m assuming it’s involving the show and heaven.

During a charity stream, some clips from upcoming episodes were shown. One of them involved CHERUB a protection service run by little angelic beings known as cherubs. Obviously they’re being set up as the good Heaven bound counterparts to the main characters, like a reverse version of the Psycho Rangers.
A compilation of the clips in question, which also include sneak peaks of the Loo-Loo Land episode and a harvest festival episode:

Oh so it’s basically a non-profit guardian angel organization. Interesting.
I’m guessing that Ring of Wrath bit means that each demon born in hell have an affinity to one of the cardinal vices. Sounds neat if it’s true.

Oh yeah cherub also means angels or whatever for a second there i thought they were talking about the Homestuck variety.
Interestingly Vivzie has actually referenced Homestuck before

Wait, is gonna be a pseudo-Dark Siders plot without all the violence and seriousness... like homeshit?
wow ... really this cartoon is doomed from the start.
I don’t really see the resemblance beyond some minor references and possible inspiration. As for being doomed at the start, well...

Wait a minute, fire doesn't do jack shit to blitzo and co but gunshots hurt and could potentially kill them?

Also hearing moxie say "earth authorities" gave me instant invader zim flashbacks

I guess the fact of having holes in the body to bleed out from is more dangerous, plus they basically live in fire, the real worry is having your shit burned down.

Just got my eyes on the episode.

Not bad, but could have been better. Felt like there was too much edge and hard attempts at being an adult show. Some scenes and jokes were good, some wasn't. Found it to be a pleasant surprise that Moxxie is shown to be more sympathetic than he seemed at first. The twist with the family should have been well hidden until reveal, kind of bumming that they spoiled it in the episode's title card and name. Stolas' new VA is doing his job well.

Mate, even their clothes don't burn. I get that we are talking about imps from Hell itself, but come on.

God is still a hypocritical sadistic bastard though. Just read the Bible.

I hate to agree but yeah I liked this episode too. There were actual different colors and humans looked great and stylized! And a demon that was purple and not red! Someone on the writing crew must have listened to the feedback from the pilot because it certainly wasn't Vivvine.

Millie's VA sounds fine, dunno why everyone says it's jarring.

Never was a fan of Stolas because he's honestly embarrassing. The one joke he gets is he likes to fantasize having sex in vivid detail. Haha the gay sexual harassing boss harasses Blitzo.... Look Viv, if you want porn of Blitzo and Stolas then make it yourself or let your fans do it. You don't have to pour on the fanservice so hard....Less is more.. Really wish they would play on the hate/love relationship of having an Ex. Also Stolas really didn't add anything? He talked about a book but nothing really came of it in the end nor was it referenced again...

Unfortunately I have a few of the same problems with the character designs and the literal walking furry in the room who's supposed to he a hell dog but is a fucking white wolf named Luna. Maybe if Blitzo kept calling her a Hellhound and Luna was like "I'm not a fucking hell hound! I'm a wolf!" Then maybe it could be funny? It would show even more how delusional Blitzo is.

But yea this was 1000000% better to sit through than look at Hazbin Hotel again.

I'm editing a review of Hazbin Hotel and everytime I have to go back and work on it I'm still shocked some person at A24, who probably had an anvil drop on their head, said yes to it.

Yes because someone who works on writing would make a decision concerning animation.
Sarcasm aside given that she’s the literal showrunner of both shows, I think it’s safe to say that she listened to the feedback. She even mentioned how working on both shows has been a helpful learning experience. I don’t want to this to turn into a situation where anything bad can be traced to Vivziepop but she can’t get any credit for the things that go right.

I'm still shocked some person at A24, who probably had an anvil drop on their head, said yes to it.
It’s a pilot that they had to put no money into, looks like nothing currently out right now, and most importantly already has a built in fanbase. It’s kind of a no brainer, especially for an experimental studio like A24.
People really overthink and over exaggerate people’s decisions when it comes to something they don’t like.
He talked about a book but nothing really came of it in the end nor was it referenced again...
He was talking the same book IMP uses to travel between Hell and Earth, which belongs to Stolas. They explained this in the pilot and episode.

That’s, ah, not Blitzo being delusional, Hellhound is her actual species. She wasn’t born on earth and she never died to be sent to hell so it would make no sense to call her a wolf.
