I’m almost certain it has to do with how Western and Eastern cultures differ socially. Here in the west everything comes down the the individual; YOU as a person are important, your vote matters, pursue your dreams over taking a menial but decently paying job, etc. In countries like China, Japan, Korea its more about what you can contribute to society, have children for the good of the state, everyone working together like cogs in a machine not unlike corporate cultures.

Also Western social media is a complete dumpster fire in a death spiral and actively accelerating us to the brink of civil war, haven’t seen that from any tiddy artists yet.

I saw Artemis was live on my way to watch investigative murder porn so I popped in and she's still using Gura's "apex predator" thing.

It's probably not really Gura's thing but in the context of being an indie shark vtuber who kinda stylized themself after Hololive, it's a bit on the nose as far as unoriginality goes.

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery that mediocrity that mediocrity can pay to greatness. Artemis is definitely going in hard on the fact that she's basically a copycat, but we'll see how far that actually gets her. Gura has been letting herself slip back into her senzawa persona a bit (slowly but surely she's becoming more and more of a toxic gremlin) so I don't think Artemis can actually keep that up unless she's also like that...and if she continues to imitate Gura she's probably gonna lose a lot of her early support.

An aside: this happened and it was a doozy.

Yuribaiting aside (holy hell there was a LOT of yuribaiting here, just fuck already if you haven't yet), this is probably the best thing to have come out of EN so far and kind of encapsulates the differences between hololive and nijisanji. Hololive feels more like one big fucked up family while Nijisanji just seems more...corporate? It's a bit hard to describe. Either way, the reaper finally got a well deserved rest and slept for literally half a day after this date, all while insisting that it was totally not a date and she isn't secretly hungry for chicken. No idea if Karen actually has let slide her orientation (either as Dice or otherwise) so it's really hard to tell if she's playing it up or not.

And then Kiara showed up to record a duet with Calli literally the next day...and I had no idea that Kiara's voice was that deep.

I can confirmed this is what happened. However, recently western leaning activist on Asia is on the rise, supporting western wokeness while abandoning what makes Asian great. Most of them are selfish assholes though.

Now that you mentioned it, it does make sense. The Holofolks felt much closer because compared to the Niji livers, they are smaller in number, creating this sense of stronger of camaraderie

His whole thing is filing off the serial numbers on any of Gura's memes and claim them as its own. Gura says "Shaaark", so does Artie. Gura calls herself an apex predator? So does he! I'm hoping the chinks try making a Gura suicide hoax to see if the 41% finally goes up to 42%.

Artemis and others like him are idiot in not knowing about the problem of vtubers are going to have. With so many people and characters on the market today, clash of characters are bound to happen. However, when such clashes happened, especially between similar character traits, the one that will survive are going to be the higher quality one. The way I see it, Artemis is just feeding on the bottome feeder of Gura's fanbase?
Coincidentally, just how much audience Artemis pulled on a stream? We can use it to study the comparison between him and Gura

I kinda feel that if it were an actual intimate relationship they'd be a bit more circumspect about it. There's an obvious character dynamic of immortal phoenix v. grim reaper being played off of, and given that they likely hadn't met until the audition process was complete sometime in the summer then unless they immediately fell for each other I don't see much of a window to reactively bake the relationship into the character designs (which I think would be a bad idea from a business perspective, as a change in the personal relationship would have a major impact on their performances).

I definitely concur with that. Niji has, what, over 100 members? I can definitely see it being more cold and corporate, with maybe little cliques forming within the company. I think someone said before the Niji's drama is mostly infighting whilst Hololive's is from outside sources, which would also make sense.

But yeah, I feel like since the HL girls are much less, they all grow together and bond together. That's another reason I don't think there's any serious internal competition. But, like someone else mentioned, if the company gets big enough, who knows. But I don't think any of the girls now would ever turn on each other for any reason. I just cannot see it happening.

Na man, I like Hololive way more but this seems completely backwards. Hololive is more of a corporate idol factory and a legit full time job compared to Nijisanji, their vtubers don't have to stream regularly and are overall more relaxed. Niji seems to be quantity over quality, it's evident in their technology. Hololive's character designs/artwork and tracking technology is far higher quality.

Nijisanji has so many people cus for a lot of them being a vtuber seems to be a side gig. Gundo Mirei is a teacher at an all boy's school and has talked about one of her students recognizing her voice, Setsuna is a programmer, Moira is a truck driver, Maimoto Keisuke is a irl farmer, Yashiro Kizuku is a systems engineer, Dola has some sort of IT job and a bunch of them are very erratic and irregular streamers cus they are probably students or have regular jobs. That is why Hachama is so nuts, she is a student in Australia and still streams so much.. probably partially why she went nuts. Yeah I know a lot of Hololive girls still maintain their original channels like Coco, I'm sure Inna is still doing professional artwork for cell phone games, and Mori is prob still making rap music.. but Nijisanjii has an irl cake makers, maid cafe worker and a various IT workers as their vtuber talent.

Hololive has restrictions on their each new gen from streaming outside their gen for the first month iirc, Nijisanji doesn't have this. Hololive pretends their male Holostars group doesn't exist, Nijisanji lets their guys freely stream and colab with the women and have a bunch of both straight and gay ships to bait fans with. That is why Nijisanji is way larger in Japan and has way more female viewers and their male vtubers are much more successful, they're not just going after the guy idol fans who are more.. emotionally unstable but will simp $ hard. It's also probably why Hololive has way more scandals, their audience cares about their girl's purity or whatever and you need to appease them. I remember when Towa got into trouble and had to take a break cus she forgot to mute her mic and *gasp* the simps heard a guy's voice in the background omg!
