This famiy makes me so uncomfortable. I thought that the kids were alive but no. Their whole Instagram is just posts about dead kids
Not like the girls noticed they were ever alive, except maybe Claire when she was very, very young. But at least Cal no longer has them shoved into every single thing he does. Well, physically at least. I have no doubt when he gets married that Gwen will write a long post about how tragic it is that the potatoes didn't live to force Cal out of the spotlight at his own wedding.

I wouldn't put it past Gwennie to photoshop the spuds into Cal's wedding photos, maybe as "wee little angels" watching over the living -- and she will most definitely use any children he may have as an excuse to wax on about her literally brainless permainfants* "taken from her arms too soon but forever in the family's hearts". Cal better be ready to name a daughter Claire or Lola, or one of each of he has two.

* Never 4get she essentially starved Lola and caused the poor gollum's horrific gastro issues because she "refused to be denied" the infant experience she couldn't have with Claire because the feeding tube. :feels:

Yeah based on what my friends raised by fundies have told me, kids treated like that either getting pregnant (due to being sheltered and given no comprehensive sex ed) or ending up estranged from their parents is extremely common. Hell her goal of wanting her daughter to have no clue what a condom is until at least 12 definitely makes me worry she'll end up in the first camp, because while a 7 year old might not need to know what a condom is, it's a good idea that kids 12+ know at least basic shit about condoms and other contraceptives so they'll hopefully use them when they get horny and some inevitably fuck (like teens have done for as long as humanity has existed no matter what fundies try).
Entirely accurate. I spent my teenage years in a conservative evangelical church, and a bunch of the kids I knew went off the rails as soon as they graduated high school and got out into the real world, and I saw even more of that when I was in college. My favorite was this one girl who came into her freshman year at our school as a total fundie lunatic: she wore ankle-length skirts and modest tops, kept her hair in a bun, and told the religion profs that they were wrong about everything because her grandpa was a prophet and God spoke to him. Then a year later I went to the pool to swim some laps and she was there wearing a string bikini and sucking face with her boyfriend, and I heard later that she'd apparently turned into a total sex maniac. The tighter these people try to hold onto their kids, the worse the snapback is going to be when those kids inevitably slip from their grasp.

Yeah and my friend that went to Pensacola Christian College said that most of the girls she knew ended up with a bunch of kids at young ages. She said basically the same thing, they go nuts after years of crazy restrictive fundie shit but don't have the life skills or sex ed to know how to be safe.

It almost feels like Sarah's fucked up inside put baby might be the luckiest of her kids since it won't have to grow up with her fundie insanity. Sucks that it's existence on earth was spent slowly dying from it's organs being outside, but at least it won't have to suffer years of trauma and shit.

It's always blown my mind that fundies don't seem to want to prepare their kids for the ugly realities of reproduction, or just the realities of life in general. But then they tend to try and keep themselves isolated from culture in general, since to them it's irreparably corrupt and depraved. They also try to paper over the cracks in their life philosophy with Jesus, which doesn't work if your kid doesn't actually believe in any of what you're trying to teach them, and it works even less when you're screaming about "Abortion is murder and you're spitting on God's handiwork!" to people who don't believe either of those things. Honestly, watching fundamentalist Christians trying to communicate with nonbelievers is hilarious, because it's like watching someone shouting at people in Esperanto and then getting mad and blaming the other person for not being able to understand them.

Sarah made this post trying to convince people her super special inside out baby should never be aborted, but I think all it really does is emphasize how completely FUBAR the thing was

EDIT: looks like she made a post about Tinslee about a year ago, because of course she did. This is the article she linked. I agree that the media hasn't been telling the truth about Tinslee, because most of what I've seen downplays how fucked she is and is slanted towards the prolifer nutters and her mom.

There's a poster on another board who said she lives in Pensacola, and they have a family friend who is a plumber, and they pretty much have a standing order to clear the plumbing in the dorms every weekend, because so many kids flush condoms.

At least they're using them, I guess.

DAMN.
All I'm reading from this post is "me! ME ME ME!!!! I'M BRAVE AND SELFLESS AND YOU'RE ALL TERRIBLE FOR WANTING MY CHILD'S TRAGIC BEGINNING TO END!!! HOW ELSE WILL I GET ASSPATS FROM RANDOMS?"

and we're the cruel ones.

Extreme sheltering doesn’t have to have any fundie parts to it, just want to put that out there.
Personal experience, it’s about the control...and it’s terrible to have to try to undo the damage caused by it.

I went almost to the opposite extreme with my son out of fear....thank goodness he was a easygoing soul, and turned out fine. If he was a kind of personality that would be inclined to push boundaries, he would have been a hellion, and it would have been my fault.

This little girl should have been running around this Halloween, probably saying "trick or treat" and eating some homemade healthy woo 'candy' made by Mommy Empath. Luna's story should be used for a dangers of home birth awareness campaign,

This is the character she's supposed to be.

Stupid ass question, I see that she was your typical baby girl who ended up with water on the brain and now shes this.

Is she aware of the world, or is there that much pressure that she has something neurologically wrong with her/brain damage?

I hope she didn't seriously choose to get pregnant out of spite.
Really seems like she did and the disorder she has "Treacher Collin's Syndrome" (Facial differences, jaw issues that may require tracheastomy, most are deaf due to physical ear issues) is pretty much a guarantee for the child to have as well.

Saw this. First, shit looks like raw chicken. Second, are extreme premies like that surviving and not having any issues really that common? Because I swear i heard that while occasionally they survive and don't end up having any issues, most end up having various disabilities and ongoing issues.

Bit of a PL here as a labor and delivery and NNICU nurse:

I have seen a handful of babies born less than 23 weeks survive with a good prognosis. That said, only a handful. Most babies younger than that can't even be intubated, but if oxygenation is established early on,
brain bleeds don't occur and they survive the first few months, they do have a chance at a somewhat normal life. But - it's not uncommon for micro preemies to have some sort of lifelong disability, some which won't even present themselves for months, years or even decades.

IIRC, it's a dominant gene so 50% of her children would have it as well. Despite her differences, she believes that she has a decent QOL, and got pregnant knowing exactly what her kids were in for if they had the disorder themselves. People with this are NOT potatoes; they are otherwise mentally normal.

There was a TV newslady who had a genetic disorder where she had seriously deformed hands and feet, and had two children of her own who also had the disorder. As my roommate at the time said, "Why would someone abort a baby just because it doesn't have hands? It's going to have a life!"

Well, I'm not looking like the elephant ma'm myself, so I realise I have no experience of any similar situation to this, but I do think that having a genetic disorder that is, to some extent, physically and socially crippling should at least make one think a few extra times on whether it's a good idea to conceive or not... Sure, she might have a good quality of life despite her condition, but are the odds of that really that high? And having children just out of spite, no matter the cause, is incredibly fucking selfish and gross.

In my opinion it's not a matter of "why would you abort", it's a question of why would you choose to conceive from the beginning if you know that your child will have lifelong hardships due to their health.
Life is tricky enough as it is and making an active decision to put your children through certain hardships is to me the ultimately egotistical choice.
I.e your wish to reproduce is more important than the wellbeing of your child.
