Welp, my friend in South Australia reported they just shut down everything. EVERYTHING. Even outdoor exercise, for the next six days....at least.
In response, shoppers went on massive shopping sprees to get groceries, clogging up the stores.

Yep. I had a chat to my pal in Melbourne.
Things are getting back to something approaching normal there. No coof cases for over 2 weeks.
South Australia has gone into the hardest lockdown that's ever been attempted. There's been a small outbreak from their hotel quarantine.
No leaving the house for any reason except to go food shopping once a day.
Face masks on at all times when outside.
No lawful reason to leave your house except if you work in a vital industry (health care, utilities and the like), or you're going to get food.
No exercise, no walking the dog. I guess they'll let people take their garbage out but my friend wasn't 100% sure on that.
Apart from essential services EVERYTHING has been shutdown.
There were ZERO reported Covid cases from the outbreak today. That's none, nada, zilch.
They're saying the lockdown will only be for 6 days but we've all heard that before.
This is a level of insanity that's hard to comprehend.

The whole thing in SA I find highly suspect. I'm starting to think that Australia is being used as a sort of example to 'prove' the efficacy of lockdowns. I reckon what's going to happen is that SA will open back up after 6 days but what it will have done will essentially have given leaders carte blanche to do rolling short lockdowns the world over. Few new cases? Shut down for a week. This will continue until people have forgotten what it was like without rolling lockdowns as part of everyday life. It also gives people an example to point at and say "lOcKdOwNs dO wOrK jUsT LoOk aT vIcToRiA AnD SA". Another thing is the whole "virus got transmitted from a pizza box" line they're running with is gonna be used to put the screws on local restaurants even more.

The tone in this letter is shameful. It is quite clear that officials are not acting to protect the health of our communities as our nation endures this pandemic. Yet, we have to continue to acts as if they are acting in our "best" interests.
PS: Mad props to those who keep a keen watch over this stuff. I find this shit utterly infuriating.

I used to cringe when I read about people freaking out over masks and getting violent. Over the top and after all this was just to temporarily flatten the curve.
Starting to understand it now although I have some notes.
People getting rock hard telling other citizens what to do and joyfully trying to exercise that control instead of just staying 6 feet away should be beaten mercilessly not shot.

Am the only one that gets tired of living in a world that expects you to be kind and civil to it when it clearly doesnt deserve it?
I snapped at my sister for leaving the sink open and probably costing us more for the water bill in the end of the month...I feel like my patience is practically dead at this point.
I feel like Palpatine in that Robot Chicken sketch where the troopers keep hailing him until he gets so fed up with everything he begins to insult each one non stop.
I started off tolerant of the world even before the masks, then I remained tolerant, they dont know any better.
A year later and I want everyone who is wearing masks like their lives depend on it in their cars and the outdoors to "Go fuck yourself!!". The ones that wave me hi get the same treatment, Im TIRED of being nice to these people even tho they dont deserve it. Everytime I wake up, I just know it wont get any better until I return to my room. Its just going to be more stress, more government thugs harassing me for money they dont deserve it, more stacking bills, diminishing returns because illegal aliens fucked over my restaurant's clientel. And more and more talks about how we are all evil for not wanting another lockdown and how more people are getting sick and thus we need to give up MORE freedoms.
And the jackasses around me clap like retarded seals.
And more and more I start to see where psychopaths are coming from when they begin "hunting"...they are all lambs so why not give them a lamb's slaughter?
I was raised to be good, kind and civil to a world that has proven constantly that it doesnt deserve it.
To be fair, cops need at most a restructuring (as many organizations and government branches need as well) and reorganizing so they can separate the garbage from the decent and try to work things out from there.
Cops are to protect and serve the PEOPLE, not the elites! If the elites are the enemies of the people, the police should be their enemy as well.
But Im sure that was made when "By the people for the people" actually meant jack in this world.
Like everything, policing has become a business. Almost no one nowadays joins the force because they feel like they can help the helpless. They are only looking forward to their next paycheck and power rush as they arrest someone not wearing a mask in front of their kids as they beg for them to stop hurting their parents.
The left want the police to be their gestapo, simple as that. You dont see the gestapo arresting their fellow nazis, do you? Or the KGB. Either way, their own "secret police" that serves them and them only.
Any cop that actually joined to help people should be quitting in protest, not only because they dont want to defend their fat cat superiors but because they arent fighting for the people anymore. Oh and their politicians actively support the murder of cops, even the ones that didnt do anything to anyone. You're glowing hard right now, but I understand where you're coming from. I don't think there's a way out of this besides civil disobedience, and that includes making the lives of anyone who tries to enforce this shit as miserable as possible. Don't ever act polite to anyone telling you to wear a mask. Tell them to fuck right off. Raise their stress level. It makes them less likely to remind other people to do the same. It sounds sociopathic, but these people are complicit in the system we're in now, just as complicit as I am for murdering grandma.
The UK is the model they want, where the police won't do shit about "Asians" stabbing people in the streets or running massive rape gangs but will moniter Twitter and Facebook all day to fine and arrest anyone who offends the feelings of a troon or tells people that there are "Asians" out there grooming and pimping children. The compromise with the "abolish the police" crowd will be to destroy the current PDs and create new ones which will act like the UK ones. No guns (so they won't be tackling any actual crime since even these police have the sense not to interrupt DaQuan when he's holding up Mr. Wong's liquor store for some 40s), just watching social media so nobody's feelings are being hurt under the new hate speech laws.

Hey, man, Im sorry if Im "glowing (with hatred)" but I feel like if there is a place with people that, as you said, can understand, is in this thread. Believe me when I say Im usually pretty reasonable (you can see in my pre-2020 posts) under the right limits of course. Im not PROUD of thinking this way, I KNOW its wrong but...fuck, the right thing isnt doing jack, you know? Im not wearing mask whenever I can and people just act like Im at weirdo at best. Like...fuck, did people just forget how much better life was a mere ONE year ago!? Are they ready to simply live out like this for the rest of their lives? I have many theories but they are besides the point. As I usually say, "the funny thing is" that I really dont see any way out of this insanity without some serious violence but the left has shown they arent beyond using the same violence they denounce against us. Im at this point in my life where I WANT to be good...but I cant, because there is truly no other way. Why did "good" nowadays become basically "let them walk all over you or else you are bad!"?! Yes, people easily can adapt to new environments in a rather quick manner. You seem like an older guy. Think how much the world has changed over your lifetime. Something like a cell phone was relatively rare in the 90's. Now people live through it even prior to 2020.
I'd advise to lose this us vs. them mindset that is if you want to be able to think rationally. Otherwise your reptile brain will be doing most of the thinking rather than your pre-frontal cortex. I've thought long and hard about good and evil. And I don't really even understand it all that well. What is good? What is evil? Why? I love these questions. But most people do not. They prefer to be told how to act and how to think. Think of how much energy one could save by not thinking and simply follow the party line instead. It is extremely energy efficient. Most people are simply living according to evolutionary demands and I don't think that should cause you to be mad at them rather I pity these people. They are not living up to their potential, but alas who does? Are there some smart people that are seizing power as a result of this mass hysteria? Yes, but that always happens. We can only hope that the vast majority of society snaps out of this trance. For myself, I have no hope in society. And I will simply live a moral life for the good or the betterment of myself and society. (And I sure as hell don't expect anything in return from people.)
Those times aint coming back, friend. Either we adapt and survive. Or we stay the same and perish.
And, I really am sad about the fact that you own businesses in the food industry. It's fucked right now, and I am not sure it ever comes back.

On one side, I GET what you are saying, I legit do, but on the other, there is a big difference between something like adapting to phones and adapting to masks. Phones are a natural evolution, the masks are a perversion of the human experience.
And about the whole good and evil discussion? I have strict notions of good and evil, I can obviously question them but Im feeling this way because the good I stand by is being perverted and abused. I know one can say that its all in the "eye of the beholder" but I stand by the morals of the christian household I was raised in. And I personally think they are the ideal for a healthy society (tho, of course, you are free to disagree). But I think we can agree that on what they are doing is undoubtably evil and we need good to stand up for itself.
And about the times not coming back, maybe they wont, maybe they will when society implodes (if it does). Sometimes the " bloody reset button" seems like the lesser evil route to take. And I refuse to adapt to evil.
And yes, the food industry is, indeed, fucked...but we are managing it...we always do. I at least agree with you on that type of adaptation.

They extended the curfew where I live. They say it's that, or back to permalockdown because "We're getting too many cases there, and we want to reduce them! Why don't you respect the rules?". I see none of that in Santiago, which is a shithole where half the country lives.

It reminds me of that case of a woman who got sick even though she hadn't so much as looked out a window in weeks. Turned out she lived in the same house as her husband, and he regularly went out and about in the community.
