To me that sounds very much like a classic MCN, such as Machinima. The only real benefit to being part of vshojo is cross promotion between other members and possible legal protections. Otherwise it might just be a way for Gunrun and MowTenDoo to take their money without so much as lifting a finger.

Cover may fuck up from time to time in terms of protecting their talent, but make no mistake: YAGOO genuinely cares about the people under his employ, even if he doesn't say much. He even acknowledge Civia and Kira's graduations when they left, just saying "Thanks for your hard work." His more lengthy public statements really do make him out to be a guy who stands by the mission statement of the company "bringing the world together through the power of vtubers" or some shit.

Part of why Tawan-gate got even more messy than it needed to be was due to Yagoo contacting the CN managers so he could figure out what the company statement needed to say to "fix" things. Which led to the Chinese announcement having the extra "We support the one china policy" thing that people quickly caught on to. Which I think he naively accepted + hoped nobody would notice the extra block of text in the Chinese announcement. Then the company realised, after talking more with Coco and Haachama that they actively made an innocent mistake into a political hot mess.

He claimed in the emergency board meeting after that that he took the CN managers advice in a panic without consulting because he was keen to calm the situation in hopes of protecting both Coco/Haachama and the CN girls. He took a pay cut and (reading between the lines of the second announcement) - the company board gave him what for.

He also apparently took it as a personal mission to promote the Holostars for a time. I think he's a little naive and not got the best business sense, but I think his heart is mostly in the right place at least.

Actually now I think about it, Yagoo jokes seem to have dropped off a bunch since things went back to "normal".

I have worked with people who wrote stuff like this, and believe me, this is just a PR mouthpiece from VShoujo and Melody. Everything here tends to show the audience that Melody and the VShoujo is an alternative for Hololive, if not equal to the Hololive. So their marketing game has started huh? My feelings were pretty much the same. It really comes off either as a puff piece possibly paid for by thegunrun or even like it was written by one of the simps in Melody's community.

As someone who fully admits I only came to find out about vtubers and start watching them because I wanted to coom one night and saw a thread about Melody on half chan, this article still makes me fucking cringe. To me it's a slap in the face to people who were here long before me and the crowd of normies suddenly started knowing what a vtuber is because we fapped to an anime avatar that talked about them and became one. Of course it's not like this will impact the JP supported vtubers, they don't give a damn what most of us westerners think of it anyway because it was their thing first, but here in the west it just means more normies are going to see it and think "oh look a bunch of weebs jacking it to cartoon pics" instead of "hmm yeah the cartoon characters are jarring at first but this vtubing thing seems like it's legitimately comfy and fun."

Maybe I'm wrong, and maybe it's best if the types of people who read Polygon stay flocked to the western vshojo type rather than the OG crowd and the new holo EN bunch. idk it's late goodnight.

Just take Gura's stream for example. When Carson arrived with the red SC, the chat got completely derailed it's basically unusable for Gura, they even removed the live chat archive from the VOD. Twitch has a very different culture than Vtubers stream, and that could lead to lots of toxicity and clash between newfags and the old viewers.
Hell, speaking of newfags, the amount of people lazily asking for the girls doxx and/or explicitly referencing it in the open or even in their old videos are increasing rapidly

Which presents its own fucked up situation. It's fairly well known that the JP girls and holo vtubers that toe the "idol" line have to maintain a level of separation between their streaming persona and their real life. I'm all for doxxing lolcows and genuine fuckheads but a scenario where a bunch of idiots start doxxing vtubers just so they can have more access to a character they simp for would be bad for everyone involved. And I can completely see it coming, shit, even among the vshojo crowd there are simps who want nothing more than to scoop up personal details of Melody/Silver/Mouse etc.

But the shittiest part is that all of this can only benefit the vshojo crowd regardless of what happens to the holo OG crowd, which makes me think this article is just an example of cunning and ruthless campaigning by someone involved with vshojo, as you mentioned previously. It didn't necessarily shit on the holo crowd despite mentioning them but it's obvious it was a piece that was meant more to garner support for Melody and her crowd more than vtubers in general. And the fact that the only people actually interviewed were people affiliated with vshojo - maybe holo tubers wouldn't want to get involved in drama enough to comment but it seems like they really only sought opinions from people that would confirm/validate the point of the article as a whole, which was essentially "hey these are the new anime gamers everyone is talking about"

There's just something about Korone that made marathon stream very....unique. Others, even Holo members, would extend a popular game into many parts and hours for contents. But no, she decided to do a marathon stream basically trying to finish it in one go.

I see it as just an adult playing games for however long they want to, there's never a point where some newfag comes into chat spamming her to sleep that does/improves anything, I really enjoy Korone's marathon streams, but so far she's the only JP holo where I have to turn the chat off or I couldn't watch it.

Damn,reading over this Nijisanji application I realize I need to create my own character first. I guess I'll try to spice up what I'm already doing but I doubt it's gonna be colorful enough for them.

I actually have thought of several characters mostly for TTRPG settings but even then I am not confident enough to do this shit and would rather build up a portfolio first. That said, I'm not a big follower of Nijisanji in the first place aside from Hana at times (and maybe Lulu) but I will take an interest in who they end up recruiting.

I also saw the the thing about Niji being more wild with their character designs while Cover isn't. I feel they're starting to get that way with a few backstories at least, but when your most out there designs are an Italian gentleman of slightly advanced age and a bartender, it does become somewhat of an issue. At least one of the ID girls has a unique backstory of being a goddamn sword.
