Precious metals always have value. If nothing else, selling for the silver, platinum, gold, etc - even if the coin itself isn't collectible - makes you money.

And yes, it's often a euphemism for pawn shop. There is a lot of overlap depending on what the coin shop specializes in.

One thing I've been wondering about is the assault itself.
They said that May got "nearly crushed in the process" when Ralph grabbed Faith by the throat while screaming "DO YOU KNOW WHO I AM" like a retarded Elvis.

The way I've interpreted this in my head is that May was between Ralph and Faith, but what type of situation were they in where all three were close enough for Ralph to reach Faith but still crush May in the process?
Did Ralph bring Pantsu into bed to have a threesome with Faith, but Faith got pissed (obviously sensitive to that kind of shit because of the pregnancy) said no and said something that angered Ralph enough to go full white trash and assault her?

What kind of situation could they be otherwise? Yes Ralph is always drunk so it wouldn't be weird for him to clumsily fall on Pantsu when trying to assault Faith but it doesn't really make sense.
Unless someone has a better explanation I'm convinced that Ralph choked Faith because she said no to a threesome with Pantsu.

Honest question. What's the alternative?
She doesn't have any marketable skills, and even if she did no place is going to hire her halfway through the pregnancy, plus covid and California being in a state of emergency at the moment.
Would it be better for them to have her stay at home doing nothing while paying for everything? Kick her out to survive on her own? Not help her with the cost of the pregnancy so that she is forced to go back to Ralph? I don't really see any better alternatives.
At least this way they can keep an eye on her for the time being and get something out of it while doing it, after the baby is born they can hopefully figure something else out.

It always makes my day to see pictures of Ralph. Short, thin legs like an emaciated cripple with a big old egg shape rotund torso that pours out the sides and top, hanging over pelvis. I'm not saying she should stay at home, maybe it's better she's watched. She should try to get a regular job. Work at McDonalds or something. Learn what it's actually like to have to answer to a boss that isn't related to you, where you can't be late, that isn't cushy and you can't just say, 'I'm tired, I'm done for the day'. You need no skills to do that. If it's even for a week, she would understand what it's like not to have a safety net, not to have all your shortcomings excused because you are related to them. Where you might actually get fired if you screw up. Because what has she learned from this? Nothing. She was going to end up working at the coin shop anyway because her life was so messed up to begin with. Does anyone honestly think she would have been a teacher if she never met Ralph?

Yes, because if you've met or been friends with any teachers they are in school all their life and have no fucking idea what the outside world is actually like. Then they go on to have tenure, which is the adult version of you can't get fired because daddy is the boss.

I have 2 coin shops in my city, they've been in business for decades so there must be some money in it. Numismatists are like any collectors and are willing to pay to cure their collectors itch. Also, plenty of coming shops buy and sell gold and/or silver.
