What he means is Cyberpunk dystopia typically looks like this.

Cyberpunk is dystopian by nature. The world is dying, having been long drained of all it's natural resources. The Earth is covered in sprawling cities, and things like animals and trees have gone extinct—we clone/create Android/robotic version replacements of these things.

Cyberpunk was inspired heavily by GiTS and Bladerunner—especially Bladerunner, so the world depicted in the classic rulebooks more closely resembles Bladerunner and that was when the game took place in 2013-2020. This takes place 57 years later, after multiple New Wars and Night City got NUKED and it just feels like GTA. It looks like tech noir/neon Tokyo, but it's missing the overwhelming claustrophobia where it feels like humans are animals stuck together in a huge sprawling cage—crammed together with trash rising up your ankles everywhere you go.

It's not necessarily bad. It feels Cyberpunk, but at the same time it also feels lacking. This doesn't look or feel like the Night City that has been depicted for the last like forty years(?). I dunno how long this franchise has existed. I'm a zoomer who played it with my older brother lmao.

For example, take a look at the original concept trailer for 2077 and compare it to what we got.

Looks way more like the above and much, much more like the Night City from the books—right down to the advertisements and holograms. None of this weird gay shit with trannies and degenerate stuff.
I think part of the disconnect comes from the whole "I'm gonna make a name for myself" bit. Cyberpunk really isn't about fame and fortune. Its this weird sort of mix between transhumanism, philosophy and dystopia. The world always feels like its on the brink of collapse. All these new and beautiful technologies didn't make life better, it didn't solve our problems. The richer you get, the worse you are.

Yes, it has a look about it. But there's really no feeling behind it. Its way too GTA. Cyberpunk protagonists also tend to be tortured in some way, lost themselves and struggling against society. The Major is doubting just how human she really is. Deckard has the same crisis. What makes a person a person? Is what he doing right? Is HE what he is hunting? V doesn't really have these sort of existential dilemmas. Even with Johnny, the game isn't asking what's alive and what's dead? In this game where an entire person can be put on a chip, what is a soul? Shit like that, things RPGs in general ask.

The thing is, Cyberpunk plots really resemble Planescape: Torment and shit like that. They're not mainstream. They don't have mass appeal. The world in Cyberpunk 2077 doesn't feel claustrophobic, on the brink of collapse and really isn't asking any questions of the protagonist. Like, it'd be different if you were the protagonist in the teaser trailer where you're just slowly going insane modding your body and have trouble distinguishing between what's real and what isn't as you slowly become more and more chrome, becoming fully diconnected from reality.

Sure, you've got the look. But its really superficial. The questions, philosophy and nature of humanity in a technologically dystopian society are what make Cyberpunk. Without these, its basically just the modern day. Its more Robocop than Cyberpunk. There's nothing wrong with that, mind. But it really isn't the genre.

the whole game itself does not have an identity, it's tries to be its own thing but fails to capture the source material thus copies what was popular; GTAV with stealable cars, Borderlands with random guns with different statistic. it's needs tone

so much gameplay and yet it's still feels empty, seven years to make this game.

I'm on a 1080 on medium, and getting like 40-60. The driving isn't as bad as I expected it to be, it doesn't feel too shitty, just like borderlands.

Spun it up on a 1060 notebook setup, chucked it on low @ 1080p and dropped the render scale to about 80%. Didn't get an FPS counter, but seemed to keep between 60-90FPS most of the time. Smashing a ton of glass during the penthouse escape causes a massive dip

What I love about that with the Cyberpunk genre is that it came true, that's our reality in 2020.

Look at the internet and think of how Twitter has only made society worse, how it allows evil people to network like never before and influence society in ways they never before could, think of how Tumblr allowed crazy ideas to spread and evolve, think of how America is now a country littered with empty storefronts and abandoned shopping malls thanks to Amazon and ask yourself whether it was all really worth it?

I mean there's plenty that's great about the internet, but it's also at best a double edged sword, the evolution of technology doesn't simply make everything better.

Also I agree with the idea that this isn't truly Cyberpunk. This is just Hollywood with neon lights and cybernetics. It's way too focused on the same themes as GTAV.
HAHAHA That alone makes it worth it to me. Such a stupid fucking detail that they put attention to. Make a game where you can choose eye colour, and make it that if it isn't red you can't get the true ending.

Where you guys pirating from. I usually stick to piratebay and rarbg. It's taking forever though.

X to doubt. I highly doubt people will care about the guy without his penis skin when their masturbation sessions are done with cold, robotic hands.

I feel like the only person having zero issues with the PS4 version. I noticed a tad bit of blurring behind some metal bars and some lagging here and there but its overall running great.

I'm doing it on a small TV because I have to isolate for 10 days (I'm on day 4) but I can't wait to see how it looks on my 60 inch 4K

I really really really hope somebody makes a DSP mod.

They are doing some goofy animation system that matches the mouth movements to the VO, so it may be possible to make a DSP mod that has keanu match the pigroach. I'm sure his detractors have enough autism to make it happen, but do they have the technical ability?

Also, fuck windows update. I started the torrent before going to sleep and I wake up to find that my desktop went into hibernation. I had the shit turned off but microsoft decided to turn it on again. 33% and 5 fucking hours to go.
