christmas dinners at the homeless shelters are like
really strongly depends on the shelter. i usually help prepare meals and put together some pot luck dinners on xmas eve and day, with leftovers being portioned into hand out bags or in sealed, sterilized, donated tupperware to be distributed by police on patrol to the less fortunate people who don't get out much (impoverished elderly). i guarantee that the community center near you - church, town hall, hunting lodge, VFW, police or fire station, et c - will have some signage and can point you towards a crises center where you can bring some semblance of holiday to others in need. likewise many such places can offer good homes to gently used jackets, sweaters, socks, shoes, and so on. a lot of women's and family shelters are keen on gently used toys, toiletries, and other home goods.
also never underestimate the good feeling you can give someone with a new make up kit or a nice pair of pants and shirt for a pick-me-up. that sort of thing does wonders for improving mood and can go a long way to staving off depression and giving someone some self esteem.
for convenience,
https://www.charitynavigator.org/ is a great site to use to find a charitable organization that you agree with. make sure that the money you donate has a sizeable (above 70%, but 85%+ is common in smaller orgs) amount going to the actual programs the charity runs instead of administration. your local police department and county sheriff will also have contacts with DV shelters and similar who can always use stuff like working but older cell phones and clothing and things to help a family get through a tough time.
losing weight is definitely a job skill that is super relevant to him getting hired at any job whatsoever.
that won't get him any offers of employment beyond day labor stuff. "some college" generally means someone who is seriously pursuing a bachelor degree and is in the middle of it, or someone that has an associates or completed a bunch of accredited courses but decided college wasn't the way to go (people like this get into trade school or join a union for union work or something). it's also kind of contradictory to list literally all days and all times as available to work, yet also state that he's going to attend school. typically students must be picky about availability so as not to conflict with school hours and study/lab time.
having recently hired some people, looking at this sort of "job wanted" post just makes me think it's a day labor guy looking for gig work on the side once in a while. trim the hedges at the condo i own once a month, help repave a driveway or put up a fence or clear a lot of junk/trash, et c. not a serious desire for gainful (especially professional) employment.
