Cyberpunk 2077 Grieving Thread

I am enjoying it, despite its flaws. But it is NOT worth the hype and $60. It is worth $45 at most in a couple of months with bugfixes. Like Bethesda games, it is a good skeleton for heavy modding and big DLCs.

Rated optimistic because like I already said, this is no Bethesda game. Thus far CDPR games haven't been very moddable, and it's unreasonable to assume that this one would fare any better in this department. Bethesda games are heavily moddable because Bethesda actively encourages, or at least encouraged modding of their games, unlike CDPR.

Well, i tried.

I wanted to see for myself whats up with the game, downloadad from Fitgirl but i found no way to get it to run, the game won't even launch for me , probably my gpu and cpu can't handle it, even with the amd and avx fixes and version 1.04 patch. I was expecting something like that. Sad to miss the broken mess, by the time i get a new system theres going to be a "Definitive edition" with the million patches the game will likely need.

Pacifist mechanics only really work if they are difficult. It works in a narrative sense if its part of the game as it symbolizes that being merciful and a good person is harder then just killing them and if it not intended to be the main part of the game then pacifist runs are interesting as they can become challenging runs like in Fallout NV where you would have to use hand wraps and beanbag rounds. In cyberpunk, you can install a mod into optic cyberwar that makes all of your attacks do non-lethal damage
I mean, I really like them when they're fully integrated into the game. And lots of games do them (Hitman even has pacifist mechanics. Dishonored, Deus Ex, Bioshock, etc.) but it feels less integrated here and just more of a 'these games have them, so lets have them too!'. Even in the other games there are narrative reasons for pacifism. Here, it isn't even mentioned nor expected. A pacifist V should be like 'How the fuck do you do it?' Like everyone should be astonished and it should be rewarding that way.

I mean, maybe. The game has a ton of hype behind it, so I wouldn't be surprised if the modding tools get made for it like the ones in GTA. GTA isn't easily moddable and there are massive communities around it. Maybe it won't be like Fallout: NV where you can totally convert it into Star Wars. Again, very poor design decision if it isn't easily modded. People expect these games to be moddable.

I found a financial report of CDPR, but I don't know shit about finances, so dunno how to read it. Can someone knowledgeable take a look and report back interesting takeaways? Like how much they spend on employees etc?

Page 42 has employee compensation in the disclosure note of operating expenses.

These are interim statements and don't have much in them I would say is out of the ordinary.

People also expect games to be playable

I haven't bought or played Cyberpunk yet, but from what I've seen, the story is a jumbled mess, the gameplay is barely functional, it's buggier than a Polish outhouse, and at the very worst, it's not really showing that 8 years was worth the wait.

Too bad no one will learn anything because it made its money back first day. So people will just accept shit that is broken on release because the hype machine took them on a ride.

We get the industry we deserve unfortunately.

Edit: I forgot, adding Keanu Reeves didn't do anything for me. I really hate this trend of shoving celebrities in games because they are celebrities instead of professional voice actors, and Cyberpunk, between Wholesome Chungus and Twitch thots, is the worst example of this i've seen so far.

Man this is like Jurassic Park Trespasser where the highest end consumer grade machine couldn't run it on max settings.

Someone needs to see what Cyberpunk runs like on a 15k work station with more than 250 gigs of ram.

I wonder what makes my 900 dollar PC so special that I haven't had any real issues running it on high.

Biggeest disappointment so far has been the game telling me I got special items for beating the game, but I don't see them anywhere in my inventory...

uwu pwease undewstand we'we juwst a wittle powish devewopew
we onwy have a thousand empwoyees awnd eight yeaws of dev time
making games iws juwst so haaaaawd
Certainly don't mention when people bring that excuse up that for most of its life CDProjekt was literally subsidized and funded by the Polish government

"Small indie foreign dev"

Just guessing here but I'm thinking that your PC may be close to a clone of the $900 machines that CDPR used to make the game.

'Wait, you mean they have more than one kind of computer outside of Poland?'

People are making apples versus cement trucks comparisons when it comes to AI frankly.

The way it's done here it's basically single player APB Reloaded down to NPCs completely stopping once you wreck their car from what I've seen. Except the AI doesn't occasionally run away when you shoot at them. And they disappear once you stop looking at them for more than a second. And when you shoot at one car every NPC gets out and crouches in fear like you're filming a Thriller clip parody. And...

No, scratch that. Even fucking APB seems to win. Fitting, since 2077 also looks like another undercooked multi million dollar turd.

Let's be honest, CP2077 is way more playable than Star Citizen. You wouldn't have a tech demo game without all the bugs SC has.
Strong disagree there. I just came off finishing Cyberpunk after playing a little of the new SC patch on the PTU yesterday. SC was way WAAAAAY more stable than Cyberpunk. On my 1080ti and Ryzen 2700x I get a fairly consistent 50 - 60 fps at ArcCorp and beyond. Installing on an SSD removes a lot of the loading bugs too. I can get a simple combat mission or trading run, get in my ship, do it, fly back and steal some whale dad's ship for a joy ride without any crashes, hitches or weirdness. This can change if there are a lot of people on the servers though. Which only ever happens during the free flight events such as the one last month where they gave everyone every released ship to try out. They still can't handle more than 50 people well. There's a video I watched that shows the current state of SC. The big difference between SC and Cyberpunk is that Chris Roberts isn't saying SC is done and it's all your fault that the game is buggy.

Oddly enough, Cyberpunk has a lot of the issues early SC 3.0 had before they put in clientside Object Container Streaming, Static and glitching NPCs, weirdness with Elevators, objects not spawning properly, quests bugging out, performance and stability issues. The list goes on. And chaps my ass that the shill deflection is just "get a better PC" when I know my PC is better than at least 95% of the other ones out there. Not flexing here, just putting into perspective how shitty CDPRs optimisation is. You shouldn't need a 3080 just to get a decent sub 60FPS experience.

what is the point of the lethal and non-lethal mechanic? so far, aside from a few side quests that ask you not to kill someone, it's pointless. Characters don't react to you based on your choice like dishonored and there is no gameplay difference like Deus Ex HR/MD.

Granted I haven't completed all the quests but in that one quest chain where it asks you to take down the cyber psychos with non lethal weapons I've been blowing their brains out and the quests are completing successfully. What's her face even acts like I did it non lethally when I report to her.

I'm pretty sure the game is coded in such a way that it doesn't actually register whether you took a target out non lethally or not.

worthabuy review

Summary:

good gunsounds, gun variety
good cover system
decent progression system
good story and characters
character models are great
nice looking world, but dead and dysfunctional
terrible physics
terrible driving
some bad rpg elements (looting in front of people, stealing)
would be incredibly immersive if it were not for the bugs ruining moments
Bad AI
Bad choices, railroaded
some bad design choices (loot, bullet sponge enemies, vehicle damage, phone use)
Buggiest game he's ever played
clearly unfinished
Could've been fantastic, its still enjoyable

6.5/10

Insanely lucky on my end I guess, especially since I cobbled it together based on what was available for sale after black friday last year.

...wait...maybe that DOES explain it...

Why do people who hate fun insist on playing video games?

won't let me link via media. I know it's "subject to change" but holy shit
So I went through this to document the changes for all of you. I'm not including changes like difference in missions.

- Backgrounds and All Character History Options are gone and condensed into 3
- Customization they lied about, though it looks to be similar in the reveal. IE: Static options, not many.
- Stats and Classless System the same
- Female V is obviously better. Characters Have been Downgraded
- UI is much the same.
- Takedowns are MUCH more simplified
- Consumables are MUCH more simplified
- No slow-mo mode in battle or active abilities similar besides hacks
- No one night stand.
- No major interactions with non-critical NPCs besides whoring.
- No Interactive Ads
- Gun stats got a rework.
- No Clothing Experience Modifiers
- 'Current Apartment' implies othe apartments. Nope.
- Crowds cut down, monorail and flying cars, no.
- NPCs don't take elevators or do a lot of interaction besides taking pictures
- 'Most believable city in an open world game to date' FUCKING. LOL.
- Seemed there used to be loyalty bonuses for shops
- Scanner only for gang affiliation, name. Not weaknesses or weak points. Level of scanner is not tied to what you can analyze.
- Illegal Cyberware? Nah.
- Car interior much more simplified
- Guns look like they used to have fire modes
- 'Actions influence open world experience' LOL NO.
- 'Preparation will be key' LOL NO.
- 'Dialogue system is fully gameplay driven' Err...kind of? If you consider stats, then yes. If you consider actions...LOL NO
- No 'Inspection' System or looking at items to solve quests. All replaced with pixel hunts and simplified Brain Dances.
- No Alt fire modes.
- Skills aren't linked to tasks, stats are. Minor change.
- 'Weapons are built from modules that allow for deep customization' LOL NO.
- Smart Gun looks way better
- Ricochet and see enemies through walls were cyber implants, not weapon stats.
- No hack takedown. No complex squad links. No wall jumping.
- 'Corpo weapons'. Not really, no. Only differences in weapons are rarity and damage.
- 'Scan revealed weak point earlier'. Nope.
- 'So many options, so many possibilities, will have consequences that will ripple through the game world' LOL NO.

The problem really is that it only removed things. It didn't add things. Things either stayed the same or were taken out. And what got removed was what always gets removed, detail. It is far more simplified than the demo revealed.
