Cyberpunk 2077 Grieving Thread

Literally every GTA youtube complains about how it gets worse after every major update, on top of the fact I tried to play it on my base PS4 and was getting 20 FPS and lower. It's really hard to play the game with such awful framerates especially after playing it on PC. That's not even getting into the awful load times and disconnects.
Dude, GTA youtubers are a special brand of cancer, in case you hadn't noticed by mrbossftw pissing out daily updates of "OH MY FUCKING GOD LOOK AT THIS CAR IN THE GAME THAT DOESN'T EVEN EXIST YET!" lol

I don't know about GTA V on PS4, because I played it like once before getting a PC copy, but RDR2 straight up ran nearly as badly as Cyberpunk at launch. It dropped to 20FPS or lower in several places, like Valentine, Strawberry, and parts of the Bayou. Rockstar didn't even fix it for the PC port because when I walked into Valentine after getting it on PC I dropped from like 60 to 50 or so. They had to patch it several times to get the frame drops under control.

I'm not talking about mrbossftw I'm talking people who are actually decent like gtamen and professional.

I guess it just must not be noticeable if base PS4 is all you had to play on.

GTA V/Online doesn't really matter though. I'm just saying I really fucking hated the mid gen upgrade bullshit and feel this is what console people should have expected after just going along with it. Maybe it isn't "right" but I also think it's unfair to expect developers to cater to basically three generations for a single game.

I agree that the mid gen upgrades are shit but it's how they're trying to stay "competitive" with PC, which even as a console player I feel is absurd. Consoles and PCs each have their advantages and drawbacks. But consoles are never going to outpace PC in terms of raw performance and customization. It would be better for Sony and Microsoft to focus on amplifying their strengths rather than compete outside of their capabilities.

No it never. Valentine dropped below 30 but it was no where near as bad as Cyberpunk. Cyberpunk drops to like 12fps on the PS4 with NPCs and textures popping in and out of existence

Same with people forgetting how RDR2 was on release. Seeing people compare the cop mechanics in CP2077 to RDR2 amuses me, because the cops teleporting to your location after robbing some random schmuck in the middle of nowhere happened there too. Train robberies were basically impossible without gaming the system. I don't know if they ever fixed it but when I played on PC it didn't seem so.

Cmon dude...

PS, lol at that grenade throw animation

Hooooo boy, just wait till you read this: https://archive.is/tPlbG
TLDR: The writer of Far Cry 3 does interview, says that the entire plot was some kind of metaphor about how white people have fantasies with exotic women and it's evil and the main character should in hindsight have been castrated as a punishment.
I'm not making this up, I swear, check the link.

I'm pretty sure you said this exact same shit a few pages ago, complete with a Rian Johnson comparison. It's a cyberpunk game, dude, it was never going to be GTA. The tabletop 30 years ago already showed that people who reached the top often had pretty much just as much a shitty life as those on the bottom, just in different ways. The game's going to follow that motif.
Yeah you're right, but that was before I rewatched the trailers, which don't transport that kind of disillusioned vibe at all. Which reminded me why I had that expectation to begin with.

Well I got my first serious bug, after doing a side quest that refused to complete because the fixer didn't call the fixer now doesn't call in for any mission I'm near or complete
oh thats not a bug. at least not the first part. you need to go to your messages tab, pick your fixer and the current missions name and then click on the blue message box to turn it in. im assuming you were actually doing a gig instead of a side mission. if not then thats a bug.

There have been way worse and buggier games. Way worse. Broken? Hell no. Put in a good 10 hours on Xbox One X. It works. Maybe the fps isn’t great, but does that mean it’s broken? Fuck no. The Xbox 360 and PS3 had way bad fps games. Did they complain then?

Surprised how close to a Bethesda game this is. Does that make it a bad game? No. The story is still there. Gameplay is fine. Is it revolutionary? Did it promise a revolutionary game? I’m not sure what players saw from the trailers or the hype. Creating their own narration on what the game was supposed to be to them.

I understand the frustration but it is a product that can and will be fixed.

They did promise quite a lot. One thing they promised is that individual NPCs would have day and night cycles. Now, that's something that exists in games like Gothic and it's great, but a game the scope of CP2077, I could never imagine that that would work. That's just one of the things. Some people on reddit did break down all the things that were officially promised/announced, not just implied.

I'll admit it's probably not as bad as it could be, and the worst bugs seem to be affecting mostly last gen consoles, but I'd say it really kinda is that bad when you compare it to where the expectations were, even if all the bugs were fixed.

The thing that really annoys me, is the lack of actual things to do. Besides doing gigs, what can you do? There is nothing like gwent in it, no gambling or anything. Brain dances only exist for main missions and its very fucking obvious it was cut from the game, they even did an entire segment for it during one of their night city live streams. There is racing but you only unlock it when you've practically finished the game and even then its broken with the obvious AI racers not existing. And I can't be the only one who noticed the lack of actual side quests? There are 2 side quests that are just as long as the main quest, in which I just treated them like they were part of the main quest. Those 2 being the Panam and Judy quests which I did enjoy them more than the main one. But thats really it, there are gigs and cyber hunts. The car quest and fight club ones are more annoying than anything, which also brings up the point of, what the fuck is the point of street cred?

Honestly what is street cred besides another useless system to stop you from wielding certain weapons, its more like the face system from sleeping dogs but more useless. I bet it was another thing cut, like if you had high street cred you could use a special prompt for convos but they couldn't even do that right. I think it was used just like that in the 48 demo gameplay. This game is so empty, it makes fallout 4 look filled to the brim with stuff to do outside of questing, even fallout new vegas had gambling!

I've seen people say that mods will fix this game, not realizing that this isn't Bethesda. Look at TW3 and its mods, all of the mods are just simple retextures or cheat packs. You won't find a simple quest mod or anything like you could find in fallout/TES mods. Mods will not fix this disaster, and the devs aren't going to do an no mans sky because that would involve changing so much shit that the coding will need to be redone. I'm sorry to say but this really is the final product, yes you can expect updates to fix fps problems but thats it. Maybe dlc could add stuff but i'm not paying for something that should already be in the game unless they make it free.

Welp I finished it (PC, hard), it's okay. A buggy, incomplete mess but it looks good and kept me interested to the end. I think I enjoyed it more because I ignored the hype and had no expectations. That said you can very clearly see where cuts have been made to get the game out for Christmas.

The first act of the story was the best part of the game, the worst part besides awful AI and police system was Keanu's shitty voice acting. He's not a particularly talented actor but his lines being so awful CDProjekt must have not given him any direction at all. Oh and all the endings bar one fucking suck.

With lots of patches and DLC it'll probably be good, but as it is it's not even close to worth full price.

I'm finally at the tranny car races. Anyone hoping for some deep backstory is going to be dissapointed, a fat tranny just likes racing.

The racing itself also sucks. My biggest problem is that if you get too far ahead the other riders despawn and respawn, sometimes even ahead of you. This means that its only really the last couple of checkpoints that actually matter since even if you did everything perfectly and crash an inch from the finish line someone else ends up winning because they spawned five feet behind you. Yay.

This is why I hate open world games. Open world games are an excuse for game devs to release broken, unfinished games so they can fix them later on with patches. They essentially make people into unpaid beta testers.
Don't sell game devs short.

They are more than capable of releasing broken games in every genre.

The problem is that it usually works, Skyrim keeps releasing and getting praise but 10 years later it is still more broken and janky than this game is

On the other hand, given that CP2077 needed crunch time to get released, similar to TLOU2, doesn't help their favors. Not to mention that TLOU2, game-wise, even with the horrible torture porn storyline, was a much more polished game.

And yes, while CP2077 could get fixed with patches and DLC, while TLOU2 is a lost cause, unless the multiplayer actually comes out and is super-good, and even that won't fix the awful story, we still have to see if CDPR do end up fixing it.

I'd rather have a game that's fun with less polish than another TLOU2 tbqh
