Cyberpunk 2077 Grieving Thread

I've been reading the reviews for this on Steam a bit, and it's somewhat baffling that a) there's already 200,000+ reviews for it, and b) most of them are positive. Of course, Steam has only good/bad -review system, so some of the good reviews might be people who have been on the hedge on the issue, but still, considering all the incredible shit we have seen thus far about the game it's perplexing. Like are most of the gamers really that product- and company- loyal that no matter what they are going to give this good review, or is there something else going on? Like, is it possible that the CDPR is artificially bloating the good score on this with bots or bought reviews to cover up the shitstorm?

I doubt it the consensus seems to be it's not groundbreaking but "pretty good" a solid 7.5-8/10 game on PC at least. Most if the absolute horror shitshow stuff is from the console version.

The game works fine on PC. It's pretty clear CDPR built the game with current gen hardware in mind, but had to make it backwards compatable with PS4 and Xbone in order to reach the 90% of the plebes who have not gotten it yet. That said, I am really enjoying it. There are some minor technical issues on PC but the game works fine overall, night city is bustling and alive and constantly grabbing my attention. CDPR should have just scrapped the last gen release and just done a PS5 and PC release.

I don't think CDPR are using bots. I think the game is running fine on PC, and most casuals who didn't follow the game with a microscope for 5 years aren't going to give a shit about missing features they never knew about and won't give much of a shit about some animation glitches/quirks. All they wanted was an open world game that looked vaguely like bladerunner and shit with Keanu.

I'm in the same boat as others, they should have just scrapped PS4 and One version. But we haven't been able to have third party next gen exclusives for two generations now cause the costs of game production are too damn high.

This should be a really important lesson for people though. Disregard all promises made a year before the game comes out. Especially disregard any promises made before the first gameplay is even shown. You're just being told general pre production ideas they have.

I am just enjoying all the PC Gamer Master Race memes. *laughs in Nvidia GeForce". Console plebes eternally btfo.

I bet once the dust settles down and the modding workflows are figured out, we’ll first get a character swap, then voice swaps, and then finally a limited Judy- Male V romance progression that recombines existing lines of dialogue to push you to that scene.

I recall that something like that roughly happened to the Mass Effect series.
That will be shit because the male lines probably aren't recorded for the romance. Plus, the modding might not allow such deep changes. The better approach I think will be to just swap the models of Judy and the ugly street hooker. You'll end up with the shitty animations, but at least you can bang her anytime you want and it won't be too janky. Hell, maybe give Judy the model of some random fat ugly NPC on the street, that way one will never feel bad about not romancing that particular NPC, kek.

"lol poorfag console users, can't play and I've spent less on hardware over the last ten years than they have with my DIY machine.'
*Laughs in 1080p 60fps*

I have an Xbox friend who has argued that I'm a moron for going PC because of the costs.

Meanwhile, he's spent damn near 1300 dollars buying every upgrade for the Xbox One, and that's not even getting into how much he has spent on Xbox Live and all the controllers he has had to replace for some reason.

What's funny is that they started when last gen was next gen, or at least the beginning planning stages was during the ps3 xbox360 era. They took an entire console generation to release this.

Just like DNF. This is why I keep telling people that this push for longer and longer development times is only going to make games worse, not better.

I mean, it's no wonder the game is a mess on consoles. There's going to be problems if you have to keep changing development up for a new generation over and over.

Sony and MS need to figure out hat if you're main thing is 4k hyper realistic games, the 6 year cycle for consoles needs to become 10-12. Either that or the trend needs to shift back to stylized graphics that don't need 5 fucking years to develop.

Same thing goes on everywhere, dude spends $100 on a pair of Nikes once in 10 years vs dude who spends $200 $20 at a time buying cheap Walmart shoes.
Some people can't understand that cheap now doesn't always equal lasts longer/more useful and neither does more expensive.
You have to do long term analysis and research to be able to not get screwed.

I agree with what you're saying but lol @ Nikes lasting 10 years though

The reason that the rich were so rich, Vimes reasoned, was because they managed to spend less money.

Take boots, for example. He earned thirty-eight dollars a month plus allowances. A really good pair of leather boots cost fifty dollars. But an affordable pair of boots, which were sort of OK for a season or two and then leaked like hell when the cardboard gave out, cost about ten dollars. Those were the kind of boots Vimes always bought, and wore until the soles were so thin that he could tell where he was in Ankh-Morpork on a foggy night by the feel of the cobbles.

But the thing was that good boots lasted for years and years. A man who could afford fifty dollars had a pair of boots that'd still be keeping his feet dry in ten years' time, while the poor man who could only afford cheap boots would have spent a hundred dollars on boots in the same time and would still have wet feet.

This was the Captain Samuel Vimes 'Boots' theory of socioeconomic unfairness.

Once upon a time they did.

Same with rental space vs ownership, the cost of loan interest never exceeds rental costs and ownership accrues equity.
It's not an entirely braindead argument.

There are also areas where this doesn't seem to be true though. For example supercars. There was a guy on Youtube who saved up for one, forget what brand it was, and he had nothing but issues with it, it was poorly manufactured and had bugs and problems that a normal consumer car would never have. The lesson to learn from that was that these cars are made for people who can afford to own a couple of them without breaking a sweat, having no problem with one or two of them constantly being gone for repairs that they pay for.

Mantis blades are pretty fun. You can basically stunlock enemies to death and they can't do shit about it.
I had a friend game share with me to get access to it and what I figured out is Mantis claws + the slow down time shit + double jump is really fun. Just zipping around tearing people apart and bunny hopping is pretty fun. The Mantis blades also do insane damage and have the aforementioned stunlock potential. That on a Body + Reflex build is insane.

I played Corpo and its implied Jackie was a long time friend there, you start out knowing and trusting him and he has your back the whole time. The sequence afterword was mostly you starting over as a freelancer with him helping you out.
I was pleasantly surprised that you being a corpo isn't just immediately forgotten. I played the first tutorial mission of the game then grinded all the side quests available in Watson so I could kit my character out early. Got really worried because I only was able to use my Corpo once.

Started playing the story more and found out there was a ton of corpo choices there, but still have rarely found any in side quests which is disappointing.

So I'm playing on windows 7 with a gtx970 4 gig, and frankly I've had very good luck so far compared to what I expected.

I had it crash on startup on my first character and whipe my character, but no crashes or bugs other than a couple weird animations like everyone has been having. I'm only like 6 hours in because work deadlines, but so far after playing with the settings a bit I have it running at 1080p with mostly high settings other than some shadow detail and turning textures down one notch (on high they are higher than 1080p resolution anyway, so you're just taxing your computer for something you literally can't see anyway). It looks very good, the lighting is still amazing, and I'm getting frame rates in the 60 range with no major dips - indoors or out. If your having trouble update your drivers and play with settings.

Gunplay is way more satisfying than I thought it would be, but all the cars feel like you're driving on ice all the time and that's pretty gay.

I think luxury goods are an exception. Keep buying used cars and keeping them running too long and it adds up, buy a moderately used car a few years old and it'll be great. Once you're spending more than a car payment on a beater then it's time to ditch it and get something from the same decade.

Actual rich people, who didn't luck into their cash, tend to buy used because they can't bring themselves to lose a third of the value of the thing they just bought for the privilege of being the first person to drive it off a car lot.

The Millionaire Next Door is a wonderful book.
