Do you expect Bob to have an obvious grasp on the limitations and constraints of limited technology and its applications given its current state? This is a man who thinks that Hydroponics is a massively viable option that will make farmers extinct when in reality, it's incredibly inneficient and pointless given our current situation. Bob is a grown ass man who thinks that dedicating an inmense amount of resources and technology will somehow solve a problem that we currently do not have, because Hydroponics would only be used in case you are in a hostile enviroment where crops cannot adapt in any way. If you can freely farm why not do it normally? Because right now GMOs are much more viable and efficient than hydroponics when it comes to farm in harsh conditions (by making crops hardier, etc). Plus, it's not like hydros are going to make farmers extinct. Machines will not be able to tend to plants very well right off the bat.
But since it's cool and high tech, it definetly has to be much better and amazing than what we have now. Because fuck low technology even if it's more functional and far more efficient than some other mumbo jumbo. It's just like thinking that mechas are much better than current armored cars just because they are cooler and amazing rather than thinking about the obvious weaknesess and constraints of having them.
