Much like the episode of Black Mirror where the army implements a neurocomputer system on their soldiers in order to see their enemies as hideous monsters rather than people so they would not hesitate when pulling the trigger.
Bob already does that without the need of fancy technologies.
Or that Star Trek Voyager Episode where Chakotay gets recruited into some jungle war. Bob couldn't be deprogrammed after that.
"No, you don't get it, all I massacred were
monsters"
-"Bob, listen, that's what you were led to
believe. You actually burned an entire village full of innocent women and children, forced them to eat each other's bodyparts, and violated their corpses to such a degree that both sides put an end to this war because the whole 'brainwashed soldier' thing got out of hand."
-"No, see, they were monsters, and they deserved this. They stole the future I EARNED."
-"You were not even born on this planet, Bob, and they were not monsters, you were brainwashed and only saw what they wanted you to see."
_"Listen, friendo, I'm a relapsed catholic and I would know when I was being brainwashed, alright? Don't listen to cp-peddling doxxer forums, anyone with even a basic level of intelligence could see that these were monsters."
-"Transporter room, beam Crewman Bob into space."
