One of the chief tenets of the Progressive Left cult is that there is absolutely no forgiveness for their ideological enemies or those that stray from their dogma. Look at how Bob is frozen in perpetual adolescence because he near forgave his bullies and instead transfers that hatred on the Red States where he wants to punish them for the simple act of existing. Combine that with not having any friends growing up and its pretty obvious why Bob is such an unlikable asshole. His entire childhood was spent alone or trying to bully other kids thinking it would make him cool and he had anger problems as a kid which meant the other kids didn't want to approach a guy who would flip out at a moments notice. He never learned how to interact with anyone in a positive way and instead just talks down to everyone to cope with the fact no one likes him.
