I have to be honest, if that's the same house it doesn't look that bad to me. It needs a new roof, probably, and I'm sure the inside could use some work, but it looks like a sturdy old house. The siding, window frames, door etc. look to be in good keep. I was expecting more of a disaster, but now I see why Rhys had to shell out $129k for it - if the foundation is good and all, which for that price I would think it would have to be unless that area is super expensive or the lot is extremely large, that's a nice little one bedroom house.
That doesn't mean he won't run it into the ground simply by not doing preventative maintenance, or that he's not wrong to rent it out to Section 8 to make a quick buck off the back of the poor and desperate, but it doesn't look as bad as I thought it would. It's just old, not necessarily shit.
Mind you, the tacky blankets hanging up and the trash out front certainly don't make it look its best, but that's more of a stylistic choice. And probably cheaper than installing curtains on the porch.
