first new annoucements since the original radio silence, its pretty much just re iterating what they already said
all the invite links in the discord's faq channel seem to be invalid but people are still getting in somehow.

While I will commend the Frontier for having a pretty well crafted world for the most part minus a couple of nitpicks, what I'm failing to understand is why is Portland, OR drenched in snow? As a native Oregonian who happens to live near the Portland metro area, I can confirm that it rarely if ever snows here. If it actually does snow in Oregon then the stars have clearly aligned.

That's actually a lot more than last I heard, particularly the part where they're going to try and fill in the missing content instead of just leaving the thing out to dry. Place your bets: did they take a moment to breathe and come to the conclusion of "we can still unfuck this, let's do that", or did they go "NOOOOO! We can't let 4CHAN win!"

Their Nexus page says that they're giving away all of the donations they received to a pretty standard array of charity organizations (Doctors Without Borders, Against Malaria, Make-A-Wish, Red Cross, and Wildlife Conservation Society).

It's kinda sad that Wounded Warrior Project has actually become a yardstick for somebody's political alignment.

Personally, I'm not sure if I want this guy to be recast or not.

Nuclear Winter, at this time of day, at this time of year, in this part of the country, entirely localized around the Portland area.

The long wished for nuclear winter finally materialized

Probably the same reason Portland was the site for the most technologically advanced aircraft built by the US Army.

The devs wanted to take Fallout to unseen environments and concepts, logic and lore consistency be damned.

Nuclear winter? Although, again, it kinda shows that the people who made this mod weren't doing their research.
Lanius wont know what hit him, once you roll in with a tank.
That is, unless someone balances it by having the Legion use RPGs like any good Taliban wannabe would do against tanks.

They just wanted to be chic and apply real-world events to a video game mod.

If anything, the US Government wouldn't have left something like that lying around. If that thing was built before the bombs dropped, you can bet your ass it would have been stashed in some base that became part of the Enclave. They sure as hell wouldn't leave it just for the regular military. It's not like Liberty Prime which was being built to fight the war in Alaska.

Which is funny because none of our military bases are even close Portland. They also got the landscape wrong because having been to Portland several times I can also confirm that the landscape is way too flat. Hell one of the only ways to even get into portland is a tunnel through a mountainous region that surrounds the metro area.

A flat landscape would have been great for races. I can imagine the Northern Legion passing the time by having "chariot races" just like the old Romans did.

New Vegas' landscape has its flaws as well, though the Frontier probably has more. If you're interested, a guy did a roadtrip across the Fallout 1, 2, and NV maps a couple years ago and made a video. (New Vegas starts at 47 mins)

Also not an entirely bad channel in general, about the only lefty gametuber that managed to retain some semblance of sanity from 2016-2020.

It's nothing major and I probably wouldn't throw an autistic fit about geographical inaccuracy, but it's fun to do especially when you know it like the back of your hand.

Heh, for me, that was the Potomac. Crossing any of the bridges into DC is a solid 2-3 minutes at a running pace, compared to the 30-second swim of FO3.

I think the Frontier team should actually be commended for resolving to fix the fuckups and not let 7 years go down the shitter.
I also like that they've been listening to the complaints. Very mature of them.

You know what, I'd have a Wild Wasteland explanation. Mad scientist, weather control device. Because why the fuck not? Just some random mad scientist who made it snow because he can.
