Most Toxic Online Game Communities - Hate the Players, eventually hate the game.

People have mentioned LoL, I'd just like to echo it a little. I joined league around 2014 'ish. Not 3 games in and I already had people on my ass for not being an autistic master at the game. Granted I can kinda feel where they come from. Noob's in anything is generally not a fun thing. But I slowly started turing into these people when I got "better" at the game. League was a game I had to stop because I was getting irrationally angry at total nobodies online. It ain't healthy. Noxus best faction though.

I mean I'd see people bitching at Cadets in MWO occasionally too (they used to start Cadets in Tier 3 which led to them getting fucking farmed) but this is gonna happen anytime you throw newbies into a shark tank of bitter faggots, it's basically a self-sustaining cycle of Internet Fuckwad Syndrome

the question is why are they bitter faggots. after decades now I think "if you build it they'll come" holds true to some extend, turning into a vicious cycle of shit game attracting shit players to the point make it shit for everyone else which makes people leave, costing the devs and let the game be shit and never improve it.
while you always have those kind of dumbfucks, it really depends how the game support it (and how popular it is, which attracts it own kinds of fucktards) and how you can avoid them. like you said throwing newbs into the same matches as "veterans" is simply retarded, and with the ubiquitous matchmaking you don't even have the community feel of old where other player's aren't considered fodder to be farmed. there's no common interest in having a good match or not making the game shit for everyone else.

Aside from the already mentioned Smash Bros. and LoL, the Pokémon and Sonic fanbases need to be mentioned. Constant pointless arguments over which gen is the best for Pokémon or which style of Sonic gameplay is the best. Then you have the consoomers who see no problems with what I call the modern era of Pokémon (Gens 6+) and equate genuine criticism with being an asshole.

Does it seem like that single-player games somehow have more toxic fanbases than multiplayer games at times? The Danganronpa fanbase is one example of that, but given the premise of the games, where high school students are trapped and have to kill each other to try to escape, the game would obviously attract those types of edgy and toxic people.

Original dota was fantastic. First death you were being told to kill yourself and uninstall life. Good times I miss it.
R.I.P Garena, on RGC people still do that tho, on normal dota from WC3 such retards were rare. i still member my balanar build on a lan house where the experienced players complimented my retardedness just because i thought the item gave cool effects for a melee char, can't say anything about HoN, the game seems to be undead with localization towards asians.

that "throwing newbies vs veterans to make them better" is the same retarded thinking quake people had, where fragging newbies would make them hardened veterans and shit because monke see monke do. which is proved to be a huge fucking lie, there wasn't that much MP options back in the day so people just stuck with it, it also depends on the game like a sociopath simulator like EVE? sure go for it but expect player retention to be shit, on animal crossing? super retarded and is usually frowned upon, korean games also follow this line of thinking, MMORPG's from them oft have open world pvp, mu online, lineage2 and black desert comes to mind, where a grinding nolifer can kill undergeared folk for being on "his spot" and nothing short of a similar-geared folk can kill him because of stat/damage reduction

Danganronpa is a weeb game, you must be joking to wonder if a SP anime game isn't going to draw retards, persona series do the same thing but persona is cool tho.

LoL fellers are autistic on quickplay matches, i let it slide on rankeds but on QP it's annoying having them autists wannabe pro players, quite like valorant but both games are from riot games...

on dota2 i was getting my rust away by playing and ting since it didn't had bot matches back then, tryhard literally said i was griefing on a quickmatch even after i specifically said i didn't play it for years and wanted to get my rust off for some nostalgia points, coulda called him a tryharding faggot on a quickplay match for everyone to laugh but being banned sucks.

it's the "feeling better" thing autistic retards have, they want a quick serotonin shot and don't seem to enjoy rubbing themselves or it doesn't have any effect anymore.

Honestly a lot of them (in MWO anyway) are bitter for good reason in my experience - they tend to be people who have been burned repeatedly by PGI's business practices/balance passes or are sick of the shit gameplay that's become so common in MWO, but some are just assholes who couldn't strategize their way out of a wet paper bag and get salty when you ignore their shit calls. There are enough cases of players losing in the MechLab that I completely understand there are some irredeemably stupid fucktards in the game but these guys are the kind of idiots who do shit like beg for locks to leech for their shitty LRMboat build or tell the team to fucking hold position in a place where they'll get slaughtered by enemy team's long ranged stuff, or make asinine calls like "go basement on HPG" which is such a bad strat that it boggles my mind why anyone would tell other players to do that.

Bro I spent unreal amounts of time in that game especially that year or so before hon where dota got into esports. Hon. Was decent at first but then the devs started essencially trolling players in game and gave 0 fucks. I hate using the word toxic but hon was a cesspit.

Out of all the assfaggots original dota is by far the best considering the tech at the time of its height. Little sperg out over now.

The lowest common denominator for toxic communities is appealing to the lowest common denominator. Insular and elitist communities might also be bad but I really would not know if that's actually true.

Natural selection, fucky behaviour and faggotry was rooted out in multiplayer games as you climb. Single player games don’t have that purging method and it ferments.

Used to be if you had an anime avatar and sucked you’d be called a faggot, team-killed and likely be sent some “nice” messages, you’d either adapt and fix yourself or you’d fuck off. It was a beautiful system.

yeah but letting communities more or less police out asshat behavior themselves is now TAHXIC

Giving me flashbacks to the Iron Keep from Dark Souls 2, that pvp scene was fantastic. Full of shit-talk, bravado, douchebaggery and some trolling. Not to mention completely unmoderated which is probably the best thing about Dark Souls pvp. Nothing like backstabbing a guy as he bows and being called a faggot in the DMs.

Special multiplayer shoutout to pokemon and it's competitive assholes. They're not the most toxic, just a pain to deal with.
People that make tank teams to brag about getting cheap wins for reddit gold are a special kind of asshole.

Silent Hill games are fine, except homecoming (too glitchy for my taste)
Sure 2 is one of the best i played, but 3 had even better music and the atmosphere was a chilling kind of comfy

Edit:downpour not homecoming

Is having an Abby avatar (or insert woke character here) the new having an anime avatar, as in people won't take what you say seriously?

I don't know what bizzaro world you grew up in, but multiplayer has always gotten progressively fuckier and filled with more faggotry the higher your MMR got (in whatever form it took).
