So, some information I dredged up concerning Ralph's current status, based on the opinion of a lawyer in Virginia I spoke to earlier today. This lawyer does not have the sentencing paperwork or any orders related to his assaulting a cop conviction, so he's basing it off of previous cases where similar circumstances have occurred.

Ralph is currently on supervised probation, with 28 months of a suspended prison sentence active as well. Virginia, it appears, runs suspended prison sentences to the end of your probation. As such, if Ralph is convicted or even takes a plea deal on this, the judge may have his hands tied. He might be required to put Ralph back in prison for the remainder of his time, and his probation would start all over again after he served that prison time, though he does think that the two probation terms (since he doesn't see Ralph going to jail over this issue during COVID) will run concurrently, not consecutively.

EDIT: Lacking the wording of the paperwork and order, I'm not sure if this is a "shall" situation meaning the judge will have to do it, or a "may" situation where he has discretion.
