What happened to people that they think we are entitled to live beyond 100? At the expense of everyone else doing literally anything else?

b-but if you die you're dead!!1

at this point I really think we've coddled people for so long they lost all form of commen sense and legit sense of urgency. doesn't mean you should run around borderline suicidal thinking every moment can be your last, but thinking nothing will ever hurt you, your loved ones or anyone else if you just do X is even more retarded, especially since the latter is usually at the cost of everyone else.

That's absolutely a part of it.

But, it was always going to work like that. If you left the virus alone, it was going to peak and then drop back down. Did they think people were going to get infected exponentially forever?

They've forgotten their own "flatten the curve" graph. Curves have peaks.
There are people who believe that this virus will mutate to become worse and then merge with other mutations that level up and combine status ailments and raise the lethality and will reinfect people and keep doing this over and over until all humans on the planet are dead.

So like the seasonal flu 🙄
Hence the number keep falling, on february 8 Prime minister legault will lighten the restriction
The dumb law that forbid buying ''unessential good'' is removed thank god, but the curfew stay...
Obviously some people on r/Quebec start to go apeshit and scream it too soon it it will cause da third wave
BTW got banned on this reddit anyway...

And the same people who unironically believe the virus is capable of this also unironically believe that locking down and isolating can somehow beat it.

Slippery slope closing in

These immunity passport ideas are beyond exceptional. What the fuck are people who can't get the vaccine for health reasons supposed to do? Become permanent pariahs?

And isn't part of the Science Narrative's argument that even IF you get vaccinated, life STILL can't go back to "normal" because there's a CHANCE you could get COVID, pass it to someone and kill 1,000 grandmas, so therefore we should probably be on house arrest until 2025?

I mean which is it? Do masks the vaccine work or not? Why get an immunity passport if the numbers will drop off anyway? Who would be in charge of this? The same people who've run the rollout? These people don't think any of this through.

The latest bullshit from the county I live in. Like all politicians, the county "board of supervisors" is utterly worthless. Fuck them, fully.

BREAKING NEWS FROM THE CARMEL PINE CONE

February 3, 2021, 3:02 p.m.

NEW CASES DECLINING SHARPLY STATEWIDE AND IN MONTEREY COUNTY

• MoCo's weekly total is 1,391 — lowest since early December

Today the Monterey County health department said 138 new coronavirus infections had been detected in the county, bringing the total for the last seven days to 1,391 — the lowest weekly total since 1,260 cases were confirmed during the week ending Dec. 6, 2020. The county's worst week was Jan. 10, when 4,043 new cases were reported.

The improving trends here mirror what's happening in the State of California, where officials said 10,501 new cases were confirmed yesterday — way down from the record statewide total of 53,341 new cases on Jan. 1.

Hospitalization numbers have also brightened significantly. Yesterday there were 13,766 coronavirus-positive patients in the state's hospitals, down from the record of 21,923 on Jan. 5, according to data reported by the California Department of Public Health. In Monterey County, there are 118 coronavirus-positive inpatients at the county's four hospitals, according to the county health department; on Jan. 15 there were 217.

Of this week's 1,391 new cases in Monterey County, 983 were in Salinas and the Salinas Valley, while 228 were in the Monterey Peninsula, including 103 in Seaside, 58 in Marina, 31 in Monterey, 20 in Pacific Grove, five in Big Sur, three each in Carmel Valley and Pebble Beach, two in Carmel area (93923), and one in Carmel-by-the-Sea. Please remember that these are seven-day totals.

To emerge from the Purple Tier to the Red Tier in the governor's economic shutdown scheme, the county has to get its 7-day average of new cases per 100,000 residents below 7.0. As of today, the county's number is 43.5, which means we still have long way to go. But as recently as Jan. 9, our 7-day average of new cases per 100,000 population was 126.

SUPERVISOR OFFERS VACCINE ADVICE BUT OPPOSES CLINIC AT MOUTH-OF-VALLEY CVS

Monterey County Health officer Dr. Ed Moreno did not participate in the county's weekly media briefing Wednesday afternoon, but Fifth District Supervisor Mary Adams did.

Adams, whose district includes the Monterey Peninsula, acknowledged the frustration thousands of Monterey County residents 75 and older have felt after being unable to get a coronavirus vaccination appointment. Many county residents have traveled to Santa Cruz and other counties to get the shot. Adams suggested her constituents make frequent visits to the county’s website, mcvaccinate.com to register for a vaccination appointment.

“Check the website regularly, and start in the morning," Adams said. "Start at about 8 or 9, because the last time it filled up in 39 minutes.”(Not wasting my time on that shit at all, you useless cunt. - JS)

The county's 10 immunization sites, including Cal State Monterey Bay, reported they were “full,” the county registration website showed Wednesday after she spoke.

While the CDC reports that California has now received 6,343,925 doses of the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines, the county health department says Monterey County has received 39,075 doses — a little more than half the number it should have, based on population.(Maybe they are leaving out all the assholes. - JS)

Citing the large number of migrant farmworkers and healthcare workers in Monterey County, Adams also told news reporters that the supervisors last week asked the state to allocate more vaccine here.

“We are advocating so strongly at the state level for a separate vaccine allotment for the 35,000 additional people coming into our community in the next couple months," Adams said.

Yuma, Arizona, according to the New York Times, has experienced the highest coronavirus case rate among agricultural communities in the United States. The fear is that farmworkers with the virus could cause another surge in Monterey County.

Meanwhile, pharmacy giant CVS announced this week it would open vaccination clinics in California, including one at the CVS in the Carmel Crossroads and another in Monterey. However, Adams and the other county supervisors Tuesday complained that the clinics should be located in Salinas and/or the Salinas Valley, where most of the infections have occurred, and not on the Peninsula.(Bitch, will you pay for it? If not, STFU. - JS)

“I really think CVS needs to include [the clinics] where we have the highest presence of Covid,” Adams told reporters Wednesday.(Who gives a flying fuck what you think, twat? I sure don't. - JS)

To make an appointment for a vaccination in Monterey County, don't forget to check these websites: mcvaccinate.com, offered by the county health department, and www.chomp.org/vaccine, which is the site for clinics operated by Community Hospital.

I can only hope this is the outcome. COVID has been so fucking lame.

So assuming that these claims about stricter testing requirements are accurate, which result do you all think is more likely?
Scenario A:
Standards for counting an infection as an official "case" get tighter.
Asymptomatic infections are no longer counted as "cases."
Official "case" numbers drop.
Infections serious enough to lead to death still get counted as official "cases" and official "deaths."
Official "death" numbers do not drop.
The virus appears to become more lethal: i.e., killing a higher percentage of people it infects.

Scenario B:
Standards for counting an infection as an official "case" get tighter.
Asymptomatic infections are no longer counted as "cases."
Official "case" numbers drop.
Fewer persons die of unrelated causes within however-many days of being an official "case."
Official "death" numbers also drop.
The virus appears to be going away.

Are you talking about the MusselMan triathon, which was bought out by Ironman?

Ironman Lake Placid? That event is big for that city, especially near the old 1980 US Hockey championship win there.

Maybe not; I would imagine a lot of events got cancelled last year.
No. Without going too TMI, it's an event outside of Rochester, NY. Nevertheless, you're right that a lot of events that are fundraisers or boost local economies in some way have been cancelled due to COVID and the difference is noticeable.

I feel like that's why the MSM made it a point early on to push "it's not the flu!!!" Even though it is. At least, it's a more severe common cold, which IS a coronavirus.
In my part of Kiwiland, flu shots weren't even mentioned apart from the drug store asking if I wanted one when I was there when they first became available. One might think there might be concern of a COVID/flu overlap (for lack of a better way to put it), but it was odd that flu shots were barely mentioned this flu season.

Breaks my cold, black heart when I hear about kids committing suicide and being sexually assaulted or otherwise abused now that they're home all the time. No one really gives two shits about their welfare, but they can point to the gobs of cash they spend to "educate" them (which actually equates to money spent being surrogate parents; feeding, sometimes clothing and even washing them up). The caring eyes that were on them every day, and who could recognize signs of this abuse, are no longer there to be a layer of at least half-hearted support, and at a minimum a place to get them out of the house for a day. Not a fan of the blacks whatsoever, but damn, their kids don't deserve this and it's a HUGE reason why they turn out the way they do: their parents are shit.
Someone I know recently brought up this very same point in response to something they read or heard about regarding the number of reported abuse cases dropping and the likeliness of more unreported abuse taking place. That's why it's hard to take seriously teachers unions' claims that whatever the negotiate for is "all about the kids" or however they choose to express it.

don't get why gyms have been such a fucking whipping boy. How in the fuck is a place where people get healthier by exercising and lifting weights always the place that gets shut down first? My gym has a membership of like 100 people, and usually had 5-6 other people there when I went, and the place is massive and spread out. So goddamn dumb.
My speculation is that gyms are a concern because locker room facilities might not always have enough space for the required 6-foot distancing. Others might be concerned about people getting sweaty on equipment that may or may not be cleaned between uses. Unfortunately, those in authority use a one size fits all approach so a gym that has spacious enough facilities has to sit idle because of the smaller gyms that lack the sufficient space.

So basically Trump is his own worst enemy.
For better or for worse, trump doesn't mince words and makes it clear what he thinks without much of a filter. Unfortunately, this means it's easier for him to stick his foot in his mouth. Being his own worst enemy probably played a part in his defeat this fall.

In New Jersey a gym did that, and the state fined them so much the state authorized their bank to wipe out their savings account without their consent because of the fines and the state sent people to literally try to flood them out.
What probably happened was that the state undertook collection efforts against the fine. If someone or some entity has a monetary judgement and gets the requisite paperwork, they can levy bank accounts to satisfy that judgement. Most of the time, this is done to collect back taxes or an unpaid debt. I'm surprised to see this done with regards to a COVD-related fine. However, some states have been more aggressive policing and fining violators than others, so it's not that surprising even if it's a bit horrifying that states would be so aggressive in a case such as this.

Why this isn’t the norm everywhere baffles me. We get notices from school about 3 times a week that someone tested positive and you’ll be contacted individually if your kid was affected. If so, they just attend their regular class from home and then go back ASAP. Very smooth.
The problem is that many areas never had a mechanism for this in place before COVID hit so they had no clue what to do or how to do it on short notice. It also doesn't help that many school districts and teachers unions are resistant to change. It's a shame that districts struggling to communicate with parents aren't more willing to learn from and emulate the districts (such as the one you mentioned) that have an effective system in place.

Doomers are starting to sweat now, theyre actually starting to get upset because they see the writing on the wall - the US will open soon whether they like it or not.
Some doomers I know presently worry about the mutant strains coming here from around the world. As much as I'm not big on conspiracy theories, I've nevertheless noted that for every downward trend in local COVID numbers, the media is quick to come up with something to keep doomers in their constant state of fear and panic -- whether it's mentions of multiple "second waves" or new scary strains being discovered. If/when numbers increase after such announcements, it feeds into the doomers' belief that things are going bad again and restrictions have to return to something more stricter.

Yep. That shit has been happening since like April.
"Oh the virus isn't that lethal? What about the LINGERING EFFECTS?!?"
"Oh the virus isn't that lethal and long-term damage is rare? Yeah well you can get it again!!!"
"Oh the virus is on the regress? Well get ready to fear these DEADLY NEW STRAINS!!!"

I'm wondering what the next bullshit fear tactic will be after the DOUBLE-DOG DOOM STRAINS are revealed to be yet another fucking nothing burger?

Who cares if it's a nothingburger? As long as people are told the virus is the harbinger of doom and politicians act accordingly, it is the harbinger of doom. Cases are up by 500 million! 498 million recovered and 2 million died, but who cares!? 2 MILLION PEOPLE DIED!!!

I can't help but notice that this thread is (currently) forty times bigger than the Community Watch thread about COVIDspiracy theorists.

To the guys on that thread: Yeah, you're totally right. The entire world turning into a sanitary dictatorship over a fucking chest cold is something that just happens normally and naturally. Great Reset? Stop watching Alex Jones!
