Hooves forgetting that the Spanish stole it from the Natives, then the Mexicans stole it from the Spanish, then the British were planning to steal it from both the Mexicans AND Americans.
Hooves also forgetting that Mexico would not allow Texas, inhabited mostly by white Americans, to become a free nation, and attempted to use violence to keep it as part of Mexico, despite Texas wanting nothing to do with that idea. Hooves forgetting that Mexicans went into Texas first and caused the initial act of war, attacking US soldiers. Hooves forgetting that this caused the US to not fuck around, because the US doesn't take your shit, and declared war to help Texas defend itself.
Hooves forgetting that the US paid millions of dollars to buy these territories after the war, after Mexico surrendered, that they were not actually annexed by war, but that Mexico agreed to sell the land in the treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo. Hooves not realizing that the history of the North American continent has no real good guys anyway, that it was always a bloody and aggressive play for dominance by Spain, Britain, France, Mexico, the US and even Russia at one point, not to mention the Natives who constantly fought with all of these countries, but also amongst themselves for land and dominance.
