I don't get why these politicians who are our representatives are so worried about their vote being known by us. Even this thing where you keep votes secret until after is subject to fraud as @Jet Fuel Johnny said. best to have each person's vote recorded audibly captured by cameras and journalists for us to hear, unless they want every vote to be as unsatisfactory as the 2020 election.
Because they want the desired vote to be unanimous. Look at all the people bitching about those who voted not to convict.

What is this supposed to be?

Ah shit i did? I'll take care of it

I found the comments from snl's take on teump beong acquitted.

Jesus Christ. I've seen painfully forced studio laughter... but this is like "We really feel sorry for these guys" forced...

As a side note... I swear that black guys delivery is like if Billy D Williams got a frontal lobotomy.

Violence and extremism have no place in America.

Regardless of whether you consider this simping for Trump, I honestly don't care that Trump says fucked up shit, because it's honestly better than actually doing creepy shit and having the MSM run interference. Barring any evidence to the contrary, there's not really any strong evidence (or even anecdotal evidence) suggesting that Trump engaged in serious sexual harassment or deviancy of the kind that Biden openly and allegedly does, and especially not even close to the levels of Bill Clinton's deviancy. Going into women's changing rooms is much less deviant than publicly sniffing young girls or groping subordinates' wives and girlfriends.

Thats the crux of the difference to me. I don't give a shit that Trump rags on in Twitter. I really don't even give a shit if he pinched a girls butt or two. Its nothing compared to the other side and their pervert cabals and actually passing laws that make my life more difficult which the media covers up so that nobody questions it.

Whether you agree or disagree with Trump there is no disputing that what he does policywise is put on the spotlight for all to criticize rather than slipping through unnoticed while Obama pulls faces on Jimmy Kimmel.

It's definitely a distraction, but it was pretty funny how quickly it blew up in the Democrats' faces, and how they essentially gave up when Cruz and Trump's team threatened to flood them with hundreds of subpoenas. It was definitely designed to invigorate their base, but I think they seriously miscalculated the level of enthusiasm the base would have as a whole. Outside of the most extreme cases, every liberal I've interacted with has been fairly apathetic about the whole thing, and rightly understood that this would be another nothingburger.
The impeachment was meant to serve two purposes. To stop Trump running in 2024 and to drive a wedge between the GOPe and their base.

All it ended up achieving was proving that Trump is still the dominant force within the party.

Personally I don't want Trump to run again, I'd prefer a more controlled political operator like DeSantis to get the nomination. He's not a big talker but he knows how government works and he gets shit done.

But that doesn't matter, the 2024 nom is Trump's for the asking, whether that's a good thing for the right or not.

I mean, people have said SNL has sucked for years now.
It's going to be a rough four years for comedy. Shitting on Trump was the go to for twitter ass pats and corporate TV approval.

It's not that Biden isn't a gold mine for comedy takes, the dude is a demented boomer who likes sniffing little girls, but it's completely verboten to make fun of him no matter how ridiculous he acts. That would be contra narrative.

It's not just SNL, late night talk shows, comedy specials, stand up, all are in the shit. Even Bill Maher, who's the closest thing to an old fashioned liberal but fair comedian (he will occasionally shit on the left) is strenuously avoiding Biden jokes.

What will happen when Biden publicly confuses a pot plant for his wife? Or when he orders troops into Syria? They'll still be doing orange man bad skits?

I expect a ratings collapse.

The problem with comedy is the really creative ones are anti PC. Its transgressive and often plays with the taboo.

One joke I always liked was
"What do you call five crows having sex?"
"A fucking murder."

Thats a funny joke but since crows are black it would be canceled.
For being anti black.

So they re left with the bombs and duds cause of their constant purity testing.

As for those talking about extremism having no ppace in America? They need to realize this nation was created by puritians, moral crusaders and other firebrand types. Being extreme is a major part of American psychology and legacy

So now that Trump has been found not guilty of incitement Twitter is going start marking posts claiming he incited as misinformation and Youtube is going to start putting banners below videos explaining that he was acquitted and is not responsible for the riots... right?

I remember when I still had faith in humanity. I miss those days.

Aaaaany minute now...

I know this may feel like spin but this is how I feel right now. After Schoen and Van Der Veen picked up the massive slack Castor caused on Tuesday and helped hit home Trump's defense, McConnell having to go super cuck level 3 to appease DC, people are seeing more and more who the fuck cares about mean tweets.

It was said about the USSR that they can have incredibly strong armor but be dying from cancer at the same time, and this is what today felt like. It sure looks strong with the media supporting the left, but now that even the middling republicans didn't cuck out, there's a good feeling. Now even if they try that 14th amendment bullshit they can't hold on to taking down Trump, any worthwhile reporter will be marking the constant failings of Biden, the RINOs like Haley are being hit with a resounding "fuck off," and we might even get some karmic justice with a senator from Georgia or Arizona being revealed to be a mega pedo who was texting Lincoln Project people about new victims.

They tried with MTG but that failed, they have nothing left to hide their shitty policies and LaVonte playing basketball against real girls, or defending school teacher unions refusing to go back to work while your kids kill themselves for being unable to socialize or learn.

edit: even DeSantis is gearing up for his presidential or VP run, look how he talks in his speeches, he uses the Trump gestures all the time now. Just get Ivanka and Jared as far the fuck away from Trump as possible.
I have been seeing Conservatives saying that they are done with people like Haley. Like most Republicans better not just shit on Trump. Because like no joke most of their voter base are on thin lines of ditching the party if they do that. Trump clearly won the voter base over not people like McConnell .
Considering that they are speaking about having a "civilian trial" for Trump, this isn't going away. It's a matter of what's going to happen next, that we need to keep an eye out for. Cause when you have people who think that they are above the law, they'll do anything to keep their power.
So in that chase this is no job for congress. You want to do a trial has a private citizen than we have normal courts for those.
So to bring an actual topic rather than more sperging about ratings - Senator Coon says that if the votes were secret instead of public, that Trump would have been convicted.

Which seems insane to me. I genuinely think that if the ballots were secret, they wouldn’t have gotten even as many votes as they did. This was grandstanding as much as anything post-House Unamerican Activies Comission.
Way would you do it in secret. I don't know if McConnell realizes it or not. But all the Conservatives I have seen are on Trump's side here and would ditched Republican party if they did that.

Lol uh huh. Is that why you defend him at all costs?

Which stimulus? The one the Democrats pushed for too?

Lol what makes you think I am in Wisconsin? I live south of there
Dude stop fagging up these threads with your sperging. Both of the choices sucked, just sit back and watch the lulz.

I work in a very conservative field, and it’s been very informative to see the break point in terms of who among the 95% Republican office supports Trump.

Largely it’s 45+, senior associates (100K a year and up) are disgusted with with him (and may have even voted Biden) and all the younger professionals who range from not enthusiastic but tolerating to 100% Trump Train Memetown.

Although it’s still fascinating to me that no one is still willing to make their Trump support very public. This is in an office where people are otherwise comfortable having loud conversations about how terrible abortion is and how much they love awesome guns.

It’s not like Trump did himself many favors, but the left’s control of the cultural narrative and ability to generate a manufactured consensus has become their greatest asset in politics right now. I welcome the opportunities that come to break through that, and for as terrible as the impeachment was, those last few days were an unqualified victory in that regard.

Honeslty I'm sharing what I have seen in my personal life and online. McConnell is not doing any favors for himself from what I am seeing.

I agree overall. Trump’s Republican Party is literally exactly what strategists analyzing Romney’s loss were begging for; more minorities, more engagement with low propensity working class voters and high enthusiasm. He just got there by a class based message; one that’s tied to his brand now, for better or worse.

The untold story of the 2020 election was how the “‘most racist president in history” carried, for a Republican anyway, historic proportions of the black and Hispanic votes. Even in urban strongholds and ancestrally dem voting areas of West Texas. McConnell is a literal fool if he thinks he can jettison Trump wholesale and still keep his coalition, and could only be stupider if he thinks that the GOP doesn’t need that broader coalition to have even the barest fucking prayer of keeping the party relevant over the next few decades.

Stuffy suburbanites broke for Biden because they were most susceptible to the media social desirability campaign. People who were already marginalized social outsiders turned out for Trump in droves.

People talk about how the Dem’s are in a position of power, and they really are. They’re going to fight election integrity and force through as many rule changes as possible to secure 2022 and 2024, but the Covid mail-in surge did not create permanent DNC voters, and now that the Trump spell is broken and moderates and soft left leaners realize that they just voted in the consummate corporate puppet, there’s a huge chunk of people up for play who could be swayed by a populist message. People close to me not one week after the election literally fucking apologized for voting Biden, once they saw him stack his cabinet with corporate board members. The way through to those people is not bending over for the corporate/political establishment, like McConnell is doing, even if it’s the only thing he knows how to do.

People who hate Trump aren’t going to like you just for distancing yourself from him. They still fucking hate you. There is no need to be so public about it. It’s not as hard as McConnell thinks to appeal to the people who didn’t care for Trump while keeping the people that Trump brought into the fold, but he’s determined to fuck it up. That, and the people writing his checks are literally doing everything in their power to keep someone like Trump, but less abrasive from winning power.
