I'm not saying it's good. I call it a "decent" state because of just how fucking awful it was at release. At least 4 years later they have been able to add a few of the features people wanted, but they don't really deserve a gold star or anything.
almost all of them and then some. part of the problem was that people thought OMG IT'S GONNA BE BIGGER THAN STAR CITIZEN, when one simple look at the team and their history would tell you enough. similar to OMG CYBERPUNK IS THE GAME TO END ALL GAMES I'LL NEVER PLAY SOMETHING ELSE EVARRR!!!!1.
while you could blame them both for overhyping their games, one was a nerdy bong in over it's head, the other was an established studio with big ass marketing budget and funneling the hype flames hard. there's a big difference between one dude saying "you can play together (at some point)" when specifically asked during interviews and making big ass fake gameplay to show at e3 and award shows.
the comparison
is a stretch tho, because it was/is much easier to fix NMS due to it's design and type of game than "open world action adventure story" - but the latter was a deliberate choice by CDPR, so every shit they get for not "fixing" it is also on them (if that's even possible, because once a "story" is over one way or another most people have no need to go back it).
I get that, I just think it's odd that they aren't at least pumping out quick hot fixes that correct a few buggy quests as a way to go, "See? We're still working on it." Instead they're doing... almost nothing with it. Even shitty EA games usually get consistent support up until they decide "That's enough. We're moving on now."
could be they finally found some common sense to STFU and get to work. however NMS could do that a lot easier than CP, because even if they turn it into a 11/10 game months/years down the road (unlikely given the cost required) who's gonna care? who's gonna still buy it if they even can?
their whole post-launch was PR debacle, if they ever announce they gonna move on and the game isn't perfect it will generate headlines because it's easy clickbait. way more likely they keep avoiding the topic, release the multiplayer or something else quick as distraction and silently drop it. and even if they are working on it to make it a 11/10, they can't say so before they actually did, because if they ever don't it will bite them in the ass even harder.
TLDR: CDPR was retarded and is now stuck in a place where every move is gonna fuck them one way or another.
