Community Tard Baby General (includes brain dead kids) - Fundies and their genetic Fuckups; Parents of corpses in denial

Imagine the horror of being a small child raised in a fundie household, you definitely would not understand anything about sex, anatomy or reproduction, then imagine the horror if being forced to pose next to a dead, malformed fetus, or embryonic miscarriage for photographs and being told this thing you don't understand is your beautiful, angelic, sibling and that it's a gift from god! I kinda get the parents wanting photos of their dead baby/fetus to remember that this thing they consider a person existed and while inside the mom was wanted and loved, but I am totally against showing these thing to small children. Just photograph your fetus and move on, you can show your kids the photos and explain when they are old enough to understand what the he'll is going on.
Yeah I don't believe it's good to hide shit from kids, but I don't think much good will come from shoving a dead fetus in the face of a toddler. Especially since like you mentioned fundies tend to be pretty shit when it comes to explaining anything to kids.

Taking pics for their own use is fine, but I'm not sure why so many of these people insist on publically posting dead baby pics for the entire internet to see.

I looked at the full version of the frog baby story I posted

Damn not only do you get fundie clout carrying a brainless fetus to term, but you can get a bunch of free shit as well

The brainless fetus sure loved music!

God's goodness is a brainless baby that lived 7 hours

Many years ago, I worked with a woman (who has since died herself) who had a mid-trimester miscarriage, and the baby was so perfectly formed, they wanted to put it on display at a medical school. Of course she and her husband said yes! Most people to whom I've told this story have been horrified, but I wasn't. How could somebody NOT do that?

Just think of all the students who have learned from that baby over the years.
What a beautiful story and way to honor their child's legacy. Much more beautiful than using it as a photo prop to make themselves feel good.

Definitely steroids. Heroic amounts of steroids, probably. But also, these brainless kids can’t move, so they hardly burn any of the calories they’re given. Their metabolisms must be almost zero.

And I’m sure most doctors DO largely see these kids as a lost cause. They’re just not allowed to have much of an opinion about it.

I know I'll probably regret asking, but where did this pic come from?

In Florida any time a baby in the NICU passed away, no matter what the cause, we had to notify the organ/tissue. donation bank ( the parents were not even aware, I guess if there was anything they thought suitable for a transplant, they would approach the parents). Never once did they use any organs or tissue from any of the babies that died, there just is not anything healthy enough to use when a baby is born sick or extremely premature. Blood samples are sent out to a genetic doctor and pathology. So there may be answers as to genetic defects, but many times the parents don't want to know, they would rather believe everything is ok and then try again, the ones who did want to know were better prepared as to future pregnancy risks and early testing
I remember a very tragic full term stillbirth, due to placental abruption, and the obituary had a picture of a perfect little girl, presumably in the outfit they planned to take her home in and instead buried her in, and it said, "She lives on through her donated heart valves." Didn't know they could do that, but then again, heart valves are not highly vascular, and perhaps they were going to use them in research.

It's honestly a great way to "encourage" abstinence. "LOOK AT WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU HAVE SEX!!!!!!"

But the problem with fundie type parents is they don’t discuss sex, or reproduction.

It may just be that things have improved in the field of transplants since I worked in the NICU. I met a nurse recently that works in an adult transplant unit. It used to be that the heart and lungs for transplant had to be in near perfect condition. Now they can take the heart and lugs, place them on an echmo ( heart and lung bypass machine used during open heart surgery) and let them perfuse and improve. He showed me an amazing video of a heart with a set of lungs in a vat of fluid, connected to machines and beating , things change fast.

Slightly off-topic, but it reminds me of parents who lose children in some sort of tragedy (car accident, for example), donate the child's organs and then meet the recipient. Those stories always make me cry (Couple getting married at the courthouse, mysterious man shows up with a stethoscope, turns out it's the man who has the woman's son's heart. I'm a mess). While the tissue and organ of the babies (and children) we discuss in this thread may not be suitable for transplant, I think taking your personal tragedy and helping someone else (whether it's medical science, students or people in need of organs) is a wonderful thing to do and a beautiful way to honor your loved one.

I have been asked about parents in the NICU who keep their babies alive when they are suffering. There is an opposite thing I saw as well. For instance babies who were perfectly normal but needed a blood transfusion but the parents refused because they were Jehovah Witness faith, they believed it was God’s will if the baby died. The hospital had attorneys and could get an emergency order from a judge any time day or night.
This might not be relative to the thread, so sorry if it should not be posted. I just thought that a lot of the conversations tie back to religious beliefs, that people might be interested to know the extremes go both ways.

Yeah I know Jehovah's witnesses are weird AF about that. I think it is related when you have shit like Luna's mom who permanently fucked her kid up because of her woo beliefs or antivaxers whose kids die of preventable diseases.

Any particularly enraging stories like that? Or stories about antivaxers and their ilk getting mad about trying to give their kids basic medical care?

I might not know much about pregnancy and pregnancy loss, but I'm pretty sure the first thought of most women who miscarry at 12 weeks isn't to take pics for a prolife propaganda site

Then the dead fetus clapped
Just FYI: that photo of “Noah” is utter bullshit. A 12 week miscarriaged fetus does not look like that. That fetus looks closer to 18 weeks but the thing is naturally miscarried fetuses have usually been dead and degrading awhile before a miscarriage occurs. A woman might have a miscarriage at 12 weeks but knows the baby died and stopped growing at 8 or 9 weeks thanks to the ultrasound. It takes a while for the mother’s body to expel the dead cells.

Women who find out the fetus has died have options to take a pill to trigger an immediate miscarriage, a D&C or just wait for the body to expel it naturally. It pretty common to find a fetus stopped growing at 8 weeks and then miscarry at 12 weeks. Miscarriages in the first trimester don’t expel tiny intact translucent fetuses you can hold in your hand for photos. It’s degraded tissue that’s being expelled and isn’t going to look like much of anything besides a really extreme period.

This is just pro-life bullshit to make people think 1st trimesters abortions are killing little Saran Wrap skin hand held babies.

Yeah I was thinking it looked big compared to other pics of 12 week fetuses I'd seen and was wondering if they were fudging it by a week or two (which would be pretty on brand for prolifers). Not surprised to hear my suspicion was right.

I'm assuming unless it's fake she got it yeeted immediately after finding out it died, with the pills that ironically enough are the same pills used for abortion. I kind of think it's a real dead fetus (albeit washed and possibly had other things done to make it look nicer) just because when prolifers use fake fetuses/dolls they always look like mini fully cooked babies.

Either way it still looks more alien than human imo, like one of those sticky aliens you get from gumball machines that stick to walls and leave a big greasy stain when they fall off.

Also hearing that it takes so long sometimes for a woman's body to expel a miscarriage that it's just rotten dead mush that comes out makes the embryo cumjar/coffin site even more horrifying.

EDIT: here's a similar article from the same site, this time it's supposedly a 14 week fetus. Interesting how it looks smaller than the fetus that's supposedly 12 weeks old 🤔

Some JWs are not as strict; for instance, adults will refuse blood transfusions for themselves, but will allow them for their minor children as long as the child is not old enough to make their own mind up about it, or the child is incapacitated. Some of them will even allow them for themselves by default if they are too sick to give their own informed consent.

I do member some who stood by their religion, especially when familiy members pressured them, but they actually seemed relieved when the court ordered it, so it took the pressure off them. But there were those that were actually willing to have their child die.
I never worked with critical adults, but it makes sense that the same. thing would apply.

OMG, in their refrigerator, with their food? This seriously makes me nauseous.

Yes, one story still makes me so sad and angry to this day. A couple who didn't bother with regular prenatal check ups because they were too busy to be bothered, came in and had a late term preemie. Like around 32 to 33 weeks. That wasn't the bad part. At that gestation, they do extremely well usually. They may spend a week or two on a ventilator on low settings, then breath on their own. They don't really get the suck, swallow breath ability till closer to 35 weeks. So they need a nasi gastric feeding tube for a few weeks as well.
Since there were no prenatal ultrasounds, they were surprised that the baby was unexpectedly born with a pretty common, and mild form of dwarfism, the milder ones where they are short , but have an otherwise normal life. The parents were not about to accept an imperfect child and demanded he be taken off the vent and not get a nasogastric tube until he could eat on his own.
All test run on his brain showed it was perfectly normal, as were all his organs. The neonatal doctors, the hospital, and ethics committee had several meetings with them, they tried to get the parents to sign over rights and let him be adopted. They wouldn't budge.
He was taken off the vent. and got no hydration or nutrition either via tube or IV. Euthanasia is not legal so the doctors tried to keep him comfortable with injections of morphine, but he lived, gasping for air for 33 hours. The parents never came to visit.
All because that little who had a normal brain was going to be short!!I would have adopted him, as several of the other nurses would too. We all cried a lot and took turns holding him.
It seems as though the amount of selfish people who care more about themselves or their image is getting worse. But maybe it's always been this bad and we can just see it more due to the internet.

I feel like prolifers should be outraged about shit like that more than fetuses. Like if they were gonna be that shitty about a kid with dwarfism they could've at least gotten prenatal care and aborted before it could suffer. Just abandoning a whole-ass kid to die because it's short, wtf.

I feel like there are a lot of Karen types out there that can't stand not having a perfect kid, even the Autism Warrior Mom types that make a big show about how much they supposedly do for their kids. They definitely come off as having this resentment for them deep down. You even have ones like the fundie mommy blogger who "rehomed" the autistic boy she adopted from China for clout because he understandibly had issues.

They want kids who will be the perfect pretty dolls they can dress up and take pics of for Instagram and can't stand that they didnt get that. It's horrible and I feel so bad for those kids (got powerlevel reasons I can relate).

And then of course fundies, for all they insist they love kids, usually treat their kids like garbage and are quick to disown them for being gay/not Christian/disobeying them/etc. And abuse them or ignore or enable others abusing them ala the Duggars.

It's been discussed in other threads, but we really need a fundies general thread for stuff that's not specifically related to their potato and dead babies.

Yeah, that’s all bullshit. I don’t know if they are using fake fetuses or second trimester fetuses but either way those aren’t miscarriages at 12 or 14 weeks. Many women who find out they have lost a baby during the first trimester and will miscarry are usually upset and afraid of something exactly like this - that tiny three inch baby will end up in the toilet if they let a natural miscarriage occur. Doctors have to reassure them they it’s very unlikely they will see anything recognizable as fetal tissue.

What a fetus looks like being held together and floating in an amniotic sac, is not what it will look like once it’s died and been expelled by the body.

I’m going out of my way to point this out because first trimester miscarriages are very common and the idea of miscarrying anything that looks like a tiny fetus is traumatic to most women, so this propaganda just serves to frighten women already in a scary and fragile position. Miscarriages are already shitty enough to experience, pro-life groups trying to convince women tiny pink thumb babies are going to be expelled will have women digging thorough blood clots thinking they need to find a tiny fetus for burial and photography.

A good friend of mine had a natural miscarriage at 12 weeks, though she found out the fetus had stopped growing by 9 weeks. She had considered trying to save the tissue tested for testing because she wanted to make sure there was nothing genetic causing the miscarriage but said there was no way she could tell what was or wasn’t fetal tissue. She said it was just very heavy blood clots and terrible cramps. (She went on to have a perfectly healthy, full term baby the next year.)

I hate to say this but the first thing I thought of was, "They really think their fetuses are like sea monkeys, don't they?" Effective advertising is effective, especially to dumb kids and delusional/despondent moms.

One wonders what they would have done if their healthy-at-birth child became disabled later on. Probably the type who would drop it off at the hospital and walk away.

The "It's a Boy" card in the first photo has the fetus's handprints on it. It's pretty common for hospital nurseries to make hand and foot prints of a new baby as a keepsake for the parents, whether the child is expected to live or not. Someone, likely a nurse who had actual living newborns to care for, had to ink up the gooey, sticky hand-like appendages on that fetus and pressed them onto the little card. It's actually amazing that it could even be done without completely macerating the shit out of the fetal remains. The skin of fetuses and very premature infants is incredibly fragile and tears if handled. Semper fi to whomever got actual clear "hand prints" without leaving the "hands" stuck to the paper.
