Diseased #Comicsgate - The Culture Wars Hit The Funny Books!

Even with all the drama, this is why we need comicsgate.
Jon Del Arroz hates art. That is, again, something approaching actual art.

Art looks pretty good, and if the story's good then I'm sold. A black lass talking about her problems with the mental health system should be an interesting read.

The reason CG was supposed to exist was an alternative to cookie-cutter corporate comics that use the illusion of 'trendy politics' to sell substandard shite from hypocritical corporations. It was supposed to be a stand against race-to-the-bottom art and writing, and a return to quality and originality, not to mention a return to respect for the customer and the creator, and call for value for money for the buyers and value of work for the producers.

I'm sorry Jon, but your vision of CG as a series of 'serial-numbers filed off' fan-wanks devoid of originality and offering nothing but nostalgia is one of the things that sent CG spiralling into the gutter.
ComicsGate exists so that whatever anyone wants to make can exist. Great art or total shit. The Radical Left needed to be removed as an obstacle, and another way needed to be developed that could succeed without their gatekeeping of the comics media.

Jon Del Arroz's comics are welcome, as would this comic be, if the creator embraced freedom for all creators.

Yeah, no!
This is the kind of comic that belongs in crowdfunding and/or on bookshelves. Great artwork, a clear but maybe niche topic that may or may not be commercially viable.

The problem is when you turn Moon Knight into a black woman in a mental institution and call everybody not buying your very important comicbook a bigot. This is why CG started.

Jon, I don't think most people think fighting crowd funded comics by indies who don't share your politics was ever the intention of sane individuals in CG. (Maybe the worst assholes but no one normal)

You think this person with 276 friends and relatives buying her woke comic is the forefront of the culture war or something?

Get a grip. Go make a video examining the similarities and differences between The Question and Mr A or something.

You're an odd little man.

That was just one symptom of the problem.

New

I am talking to JDA, Can't melt his mind with the freelancer Game of Thrones and the need for manchildren to reach teenage girls without getting arrested or #metoo'ed while spending as little money as possible for talent.

Also, keep your copies of Xenotype. When Ody makes it big, they may be worth something. And misprints are always collector's items.

"Social Justice craziness airing their mental health mommy issues is great in this instance."

Fuckin' bizarro 2021, let me tell you...
What is CG's role with regard to some woke chick using a crowd funder to find support for her woke project?

You sound exactly like a cancel culture SJW with different politics.

'Let's fight them by being just as despicable as them.'

Get a grip. If you want to fight the power don't act like the little guy is the enemy. Ragging on some crazy progressive moron for making her own comic that doesn't jibe with your politics is risible at best but more likely execrable.

Get a life.

You go on with your co-exist and appeasement nonsense. I'll go on with my SJWs delenda est approach. We can A/B test which one works better. You don't gotta get butt hurt.

You don't gotta get butt hurt.
"Appeasement" ??? Are you comparing this chicks autobiographical funny book to the annexation of Bohemia, Austria or maybe Poland?

You're an idiot.

You're butt hurt some nobody leftist wants to make a comic you disagree with.

You don't seem to get it. It's not idiot leftist like her who are the problem.

It's cancel culture assholes like you on the left and right.

Edit: Mostly on the left but retards like you keep making anyone who thinks there are only two genders look like the Gestapo.

So this makes the second time this month that a drama based CGer came to me for the sole purpose of amplifying their complaints about their own project, Martina being the first. Who’s next?

I hope you pull it off. Kyle will owe you everything after this.

ALL CAPS publishing Starblades seems like a natural course of action. I understand wanting to do it yourself, but it sounded like Kyle was having a rough time and this should get things moving. Plus he can avoid the hassle and potential mistakes of first-time fulfillment. I just hope @FROG either edits this book or hires someone to do so if there isn't already an editor attached. CG as a whole is in desperate need of editors. Many books I receive are riddled with errors and outright awful grammar and syntax from writers who don't seem to know what they're doing. This isn't meant to cast doubt on Kyle. Just a general observation from the ~80 CG (and "CG-adjacent") books I've read.

Hey, I wonder if JDA’s recent bullshit has anything to do with that comic’s performance compared to this one...

Nah, JDA has always had the political reactionary stance against mainstream comics. Personally I think indie comic creators should be able to make whatever the hell they want, the issue I have is more about the ones that stand on the shoulders of giants and then just start pissing and shitting all over the place while gatekeeping.

Look, the book looks great. I haven't read it yet, but even if it were just a silent art book, it would be worth publishing.

Kyle hinted at me that he was overwhelmed and needed help a few times, but then would kind of vanish when I asked for more info. He's a valuable colorist, and I can't have a fail-to-deliver IGG campaign causing him to disappear from the scene in disgrace like so many others have. I need him. So I offered to publish it today. He jumped at it.

We crunched the numbers, figured out what it's going to cost to print and fulfill this campaign, and it's fairly simple. It's only a single comic book with several variant covers. I over estimated the print costs, over estimated the shipping costs, threw in about $10K in unexpected incidental charges and asked for a small % of the gross as payment for the job. I totaled it up and asked him if he could write that check if asked for it today (in other words, how badly did you nibble at the funds?) and he said he could, with money to spare.

Assuming the book is finished as Kyle says, this is all work I can assign to my team and get this book printed and fulfilled promptly, and we'll make a little money off it.

Kyle wants to do a second and third issue. This is his dream project, he wrote to me. So I guess we'll have to see about making that a reality.

BUT FIRST, COLOR CYBERFROG.
