There's definitely worse. There's literal gibberish. There's WTF am I reading level stuff.I find it hard to believe that there could be worse.

I think people overlook the Red Sea Object and similar articles when talking about how Series 1 was simpler because the logs were on different pages, not addenda in the article itself. That setup makes more sense in-universe, since an agent accessing the document for containment information and other basics isn't going to care about the times when they had people explore it.Obviously everyone has different tastes. But it's pretty objective that new and old both have their shining gold medals and their polished turds. Plus, old articles weren't all simple either. The Red Sea Object was a very complex article and is still one of the best.
I feel like the concept would have been better served if they avoided providing examples of the satellite's artwork. Honestly it would be better served if the author selected a Fandom they were completely unfamiliar with. The concept of ultra secretive scientists having to be buddy buddy with a psychotic autism space station ai is a better concept than the weird sort of excuse for homestuck autism we got. Also, even if the page was being "brigaded", disabling voting is basically a way of admitting "this is bad, we know it, but go away dont try to improve it"At the very least, I enjoy the idea that a bunch of Foundation agents have to pretend to want to be Tumblr friends with the thing because they're afraid that it'll blow up the world if they don't have people talking to it.
And that kind of shit is the decline that resulted in the ultimate failure we see now.disabling voting is basically a way of admitting "this is bad, we know it, but go away dont try to improve it"
I'll acknowledge this, part of why I like that early stuff is simply because it was where I first encountered this kind of content and really liked it. I tend to be biased towards first encounters. It's a good point that this earlier content had a lot more polish to it largely because a lot of people worked on it.Series 1 is, counterintuitive the, the best series not because it is full of old “classics” but because it’s had the most time for old stuff to be pruned out, rewritten, or replaced wholesale with better versions.
There’s more than one “bad” article to fixate on you know, I feel similar rage about the LaBeouf Viewer who sees everything as Shia LeBeouf but doesn’t actually have an anomaly other than that hallucination. And that kind of shit is the decline that resulted in the ultimate failure we see now.

I think it would have been better to spend time on a lot of the middle material rather than absolute bullshit like the tumblr satellite.
The Tumblr satellite broke people's minds, I swear. It's basically the only article of its kind, it didn't cause a massive explosion of articles about Tumblr or Homestuck or whatever, but people still point to it as the proof of the decline in writing quality on SCP. At least pick an article that had an impact. There’s more than one “bad” article to fixate on you know
The problem isn't that there are so few, it's that they're so many. I haven't even seen that one but it sounds really stupid. I hope it's at least Safe because it can't possibly be a Keter. It's just literally a retard. (Oh, looking it up. Yeah it's a 1xxx series. What a dumb SCP!) Why are they even bothering to contain this idiot? There’s more bad articles to fixate on you know, I feel similar rage about the LaBeouf Viewer who sees everything as Shia LeBeouf but doesn’t actually have an anomaly other than that hallucination.
Exactly, if you want to see a sign of decline, look at how little discussion there is on new articles(especially if it’s not an SCP) unless the author is lucky/already popular/good at vote-begging, none of which are conducive to good writing. Look at the explosion in popularity for articles that fixate on their style over their substance. djkaktus and to a somewhat lesser degree Rounderhouse are both representatives for this toxic upvote culture which rewards a personal brand over making anything beautiful. They’ve commodified SCP to benefit their own egos. The Tumblr satellite broke people's minds, I swear. The 049 rewrite is so bafflingly bad that I genuinely cannot understand what was going through the author's mind when he wrote it. The amateur cosplay photo in the middle of the article really ties the whole thing into a nice, mediocre packageSeries 1 is, counterintuitively, the best series not because it is full of old “classics” but because it’s had the most time for old stuff to be pruned out, rewritten, or replaced wholesale with better versions. 049 is a great example of this being done poorly. Iris almost had the same treatment in 2013 but the deadly moose saved it and it’s usually the case that someone will choose to save vs delete an old article. That’s why there’s more faithful rewrites than otherwise.
Well, it was written by djkaktus and an ex-staff sex pest so what more could you expect? The 049 rewrite is so bafflingly bad that I genuinely cannot understand what was going through the author's mind when he wrote it. It's been a long time since I read it, but I don't remember thinking it was that bad. The writing isn't memorable but it's not offensively bad, and Volgun did a good job with the voice acting. The 049 rewrite is so bafflingly bad that I genuinely cannot understand what was going through the author's mind when he wrote it. It's "bad" in the sense that they took a simple (and iconic) SCP, made it it worse, then said "yeah, this is definitely an improvement", and then replaced the original. It's a pure vanity project. It's been a long time since I read it, but I don't remember thinking it was that bad. At least we still have the original as an ARC.It's "bad" in the sense that they took a simple (and iconic) SCP, made it it worse, then said "yeah, this is definitely an improvement", and then replaced the original. It's a pure vanity project.
This is the kind of thing I wish you posted at the start. This is the Discord server that eventually evolved into MAST, originally it was going to be clandestinely but that proved harder than just having a Big Lie and operating out openly under false pretenses.

I found it all eventually! This is the kind of thing I wish you posted at the start.
Do you think Yurt's "control" through MAST has been at all impaired by Bleep becoming the sole captain?More on how lucky we are MayD joined the effort and is useful for covering our real intentions:

The damage was already done, MAST is set up in such a way that work gets delegated downstream and the executive leadership is there to take care of big picture stuff. Even if it did become difficult, Ais is co-captain of MAST and tech so he stepped into the power vacuum left by Magnus’ and my departure quite elegantly. I taught that duck well. It looks like Yossi and stormbreath have leadership positions too, and more than a third of moderation (8/25) is a direct participant/beneficiary from Yurt’s corruption of the ss.Do you think Yurt's "control" through MAST has been at all impaired by Bleep becoming the sole captain?
Thing is, you've only confirmed that one person on that list, Aismallard, is even thinking of coordinating some sort of operation in Yurt. The other screenshots you've sent are of people who aren't on staff. The PMs are a nothingburger so far, and @ToS isn't finding much of anything in the #site67 logs. The damage was already done, MAST is set up in such a way that work gets delegated downstream and the executive leadership is there to take care of big picture stuff. Only two Operational Staff (Jackal + Kirby) though so they may be satisfied with their current roster and want to entrench themselves in the current status quo but that’s purely conjecture and speculation, and I’m sure that the undeniable corruption in the logs may rock the boat even if the rest of the ss rolls over in face of the revelations.
