Transformers general thread - Toy Robot men based on giant robots based on previously mentioned toys about said robots

Strangely, I only ever cared about the Bayformers. Studio Series is literally the only thing I've been really paying attention to toywise. There's probably like, 3 WFC figures that actually caught my attention, but I've mostly ignored most of the stuff coming out since it's just G1 re-hashes.

The Bayformers had one thing going for them: the looks. The movies sold well but most Transformers fans hated their stories. It's usually the cool designs which led to them being sold. Which is why I have a few Bayformers toys in my shelf.

I'm more interested in the Aligned Continuity bots. I was bummed out that we never got a Voyager-class of Megatronus, Skylynx, or Hardhsell, and we also never got a WFC game version of Zeta Prime and Warpath.

One of my biggest beefs with the troons is that you can no longer say you're a transfan without people thinking you're into girldick.

I really enjoyed the Beast Wars Transmetals but that's hard to say in 2021. Chrome'd out metallic paint jobs are underrated on these figures.

There are some Transformers that I would love to own from either Takara's Masterpiece line or from one of the high end third party companies, mostly ones that I really wanted as a kid but my parents couldn't afford or were out of production by the time I found out about them, but I've never seriously considered buying them because I always think "For that kind of money I can buy/put the money towards this or that other thing I really want", usually guns or related things. I dunno, maybe one day. Always wanted Metroplex, Scorpinok, Power Master Optimus Prime, Soundwave, Shockwave, Trypticon and the original Megatron. My oldest son likes Transformers and I bought him a reissue of the G1 Trypticon for Christmas one year and he really loves it.

And 2) I think Thew has said before that he has a wife, maybe even a kid? Actually has a real world job.

I picked up a War For Cybertron Optimus Prime today because I've always wanted an Optimus, and I got a good deal on it. I'm pretty pleased with it since the detail is nice, the build quality is good, and I got it for $25 so I figured I'd go ahead and get it since I've never had an Optimus and always wanted one. It's not a Takara Masterpiece or from one of the high end third party makers, but it'll be fun to have and display.

It kinda sucks that it's just a headswapped paleotrex considering transmutate's kinda got a specific weird smooth bodied hunch about her and paleotrex is just all jagged skeleton dinosaur parts. The other kingdom beast wars figures have so far been more accurate to the show models than any prior figures before them so it's kinda weird they didn't just reissue the "build a figure" transmutate from like a decade back as a single release. They've been reissuing other figures from around that timeframe over the last few years and IIRC that figure was kinda small to begin with so it'd probably fit the whole "series accurate scaling" thing the WFC/studio series figures are going for.

EDIT: This is mildly unrelated but I Didn't want to double post hours later about something else related to Transmutate. I ended up somehow checking a wiki article I found about them when trying to see if I remembered the weird shit about 2 characters thirsting after her in the cartoon and the fucking thing was tainted by gendershit pronoun stuff despite it being made explicitly clear the reason they call her "it" in the context of the show being like she's a horrible malformed abomination of a creature and not a fucking gender neutral pronoun deal. Really the last place I thought i'd see something like that show up. Ironically the article itself points the fact transmutate is referred to as female in the script out in the "trivia" section. The original appearance where the "gender neutral pronouns" are used in this article is also weirdly the shortest part of it despite that being the only place where the character has a significant amount of screentime, and I'm not sure what to say about that. You can't make this shit up lmao.
Luckily I was able to find concrete evidence I was correct on my memory of the weird love/friend triangle thing by just looking at random out of context beast wars clips uploaded to youtube.

Yeah that's pretty much what my thoughts are. I kinda pointed out that she was pretty much confirmed as female to begin with which is why the wiki was kinda fucking odd to see. her proportions are somewhat similar to paleotrex but you'd think they'd make her look more robotic retooling more than just the head. As far as this figure goes it's pretty much just a botcon type of deal where they just swap out the head as opposed to some selects releases where they do a bit more retooling like spinout and cordon.
Might get her but I'm concerned by the usage of that specific shade of metallic plastic. Even though not many figures that have used it the past few years have gotten the strange rapid-degradation/disintegration shit that older figures tended to suffer from it's got me kinda spooked. If I do end up getting her I might try getting a second just to try and work out a way to give her the weird animalistic feet in robot mode. No clue if it's even possible to give the figure her signature hunchback though.

Those teeny little Power of The primes dudes are pathetic representation, I want Roadblock in his huge green APC Tank, the pretender beasts and all the other shit that looks like it belongs on a 1980's rock album. Monstructor/Dino King is the only missing combiner at this point. They also have to finish making the rest of the micromaster teams and bases. Groundshaker, Rocket Base, Battlefield Headquarters, all top tier G1 Transformers.

Well they are doing the Rocket Base..... in a way. The first time they tried to pass Omega off as the Rocket Base, the next one is the final Galactic Odyssey pack that’s is literally an expansion pack for Sky Lynx and the third will likely be the inevitable Hasbro Pulse Omega Sentinel that will probably go up by the end of the year, as a “made to order” like Abominus and Volcanicus.

I bought my oldest son a pretty cool Transformer today. It's a Ghostbusters crossover and it's alt-mode is the ECTO 1 1959 Caddy ambulance, and it even comes with Slimer and another ghost.
