Transformers general thread - Toy Robot men based on giant robots based on previously mentioned toys about said robots

What do the Kiwis who collect Transformers think of the Kevin Gibes thread? I can't say I know much if anything at all about Transformers, but Kevin is a collector's worst nightmare. He buys seemingly every single Transformer when they come out, opens them up and their value rapidly deteriorates due to being within close proximity of him.
Any pictures of his fucked up toys?

Anyone want some quality of life changes for Selects G2 Megatron? They’re pretty simple and really help out the figure.

I’ve been working for awhile to get him to be worthy of the G2 Megatron mantle.

There was this really shitty ugly looking ps1 transformer game whose name I'll never know I played when I was a kid.

I think I liked it more as an obscure thing, when the movies came out I didn't really care.

The Kingdom Galvatron is quite possibly the most Galvatron looking Galvatron that ever Galvatroned.

Now only if we could get it in Toy/Comic colors and as Shattered Glass Megatron. It's the same size as TR Galvatron in Robot mode so he's rather hefty as well.

Only thing weirding me out about kingdom galvatron is how the shape of the top of his head seems to have changed between leaks and is now kinda stretched and egg-like rather than samurai helmet-like. In terms of redecos, he titans return galvatron's shoulders are based on the toy, but there isn't a selects retool of him. Comic colors would look better in the case of the new galvatron due to the pauldrons, but maybe they'll do something akin to what they did with the Pulse exclusive regal cobra commander. Literally every official description says that figure's color scheme is based on the cartoon, but the saturated purely blue, dark blue, and gold color scheme are 100% marvel comics.
The last time I can remember the marvel comic color schemes or designs being actively called back to by name was masterpiece g2 sideswipe, who's head was retooled to have the defined humanlike teeth as a nod to marvel transformers. I missed out on that figure, it was marked down to 30 dollars for a while before spiking up to 100 like out of fucking nowhere. Had to settle with the siege "covert clone" as they call him thats less based on the comics and more just based on the toy as a result. Nice color scheme but he has loose legs and the standard "=_= face" for lack of a better way to put it.

My son and I realized that our little collection was pretty Autobot heavy, so I bought a Siege Shockwave that I found for a good price. Always liked Shockwave. Jetfire still dwarfs him, but he's a good match up against my Optimus Prime and Spoiler Pack Ultra Mag. I like that he's got the two extra arms that end in blasters as part of his armor, but I wish they could have made it so that you could change out his hands if you wanted.

My son is really looking forward to that one. Galvatron is one of his all-time favorite characters ever since I showed him the 1986 movie when he was younger and his first figure was the Titans Return Galvatron.

No, no, no...that's a TROONsformer. It's for deviant man-children like Kevin Gibes so that they can cater to their uncontrolled consumerism AND their rampant sexual degeneracy at the same time.

It's always been fucking wild to me how in overlord's original appearance he wasn't actually a sentient being. he was a mech piloted by a human couple given to them by a satanic space fetus. Said mech later actually was given sentience by said space fetus and pretty much became a normal transformer after that. The Japanese exclusive seasons of g1 are fucking out there at times, though g1 in general kinda has that kinda weird chaotic energy about it.

On the subject of that tangent, The english dub of Headmasters is it's own brand of chaos magic.
I never regretted watching through all of the Japanese G1. There's just so much crazy shit in there, with Masterforce probably being my favorite series. But every one had some highlights of absolute nonsense. Victory also has some really pretty animation at times, it means we got plenty of clip shows, but from an aesthetic standpoint it holds up nicely.

Victory also has an insane end credits theme where a chibi Star Saber pisses himself.

Picked up the Elita One that has a strong Ariel vibe to it. Was really disappointed with the shell-forming. I hadn't been able to find the Arcee, so it's my first time getting hands on the mold. It's barely a step beyond the Thunderblast speedboat doll-in-a-coffin nonsense. At least in the Combiner Wars mold they bothered to integrate her damn thighs into the vehicle.

I’m waiting for the Marvel/toy colours repaint of Galvatron myself, I’m just glad that we might finally have a non-compromised CHUG Galvatron.

best Shockwave was that one that was G1 Shockwave but he- wait I'm thinking of Soundwave, whatever, the tape cassette dude
they made a version of him that was just the G1 mold but it could run mp3s off an sd card, that was cool
the Korean gun dude who was also in Aliens was cool in his own way, too

Well holy shit

160 bucks, I was expecting it to be around 300 but it's Hasbro putting him out and not Takara. The price of his little partner bot from generation selections is going to Skyrocket now.

I’m more excited about the headmaster.

Zone homages are always cool and I foresee Fasttracks climbing in price, a horde of them would look great with Roritchi and Big Black Zarak.

If you want a Fasttrack buy it now, last wave, army-builder, Japanese connection. They won’t be in stock long.

Man where to start. Transformers was my childhood and I collected the G1 comics (UK) from issue 52 approx through to the end of the run, 332. Tragically the only ones I still own are the final ten issues.

Needless to say I had an entire room full of old toys, again all gone.

I don’t do nostalgiac torpor so haven’t attempted to re-collect anything and save for the now-unavailable Transformers: Devastation on Steam, never revisited anything G1. Read the G2 comics long after print but not interested in anything since.

I wondered if anyone else here collected the UK comics. Generally, we got the raw deal of big story arcs from the US comic long after US print, but some of the UK exclusive stories were absolutely amazing and really thought provoking.

The UK stories were heavy with the 1986 movie characters on a future Earth, and the OP obsession with Galvatron got a bit tiresome; but two of the best UK arcs were ‘Aspects of Evil’ and ‘Perchance to Dream’. The latter was a great storyline showing classic Autobots like Wheeljack, Prowl and Sunstreaker, giving retrospective instances where these ‘heroic’ Autobots were in fact far from heroic; showing selfish and intolerant behaviour which went much deeper than the usual bad vs good.

‘Time Wars’ was a classic too.

Jesus, what an autist.

that reminds me, I need to go through at least some of the UK run to see the early days of everybody's favorite Freelance Peacekeeping Agent, yes?

It’s funny but Death’s Head was the only non-TF character who appeared in the comics that I loved to see. Gave Galvatron (OP) a serious run for his money, too.

Always got a kick out of Rodimus’s solution to Galvatron...... put a huge-ass bounty on his head so every mercenary in the galaxy would be gunning for Galvy.

BTW if Hasbro has any sense of brand awareness they’d reveal Marvel Legends Death’s Head alongside the reveal of Selects Galvatron.

A few TF postcasts are saying that Black Zarak is a sign of things to come and instead of Unicron Trilogy we're instead going to head into G1 Weird Shit and Literal Who Background characters.

Maybe we'll finally get a decent take on pretenders and get a comic version of Jhiaxus? I know Raiden has been teased as an MP so maybe we'll get a generations one as well.

Optimus Primal could be easily repurposed as the canceled gorilla pretender shell that was later used as a botcon exclusive. Hasbro has already done a ton of former botcon exclusives, including ones covered by the club like the female medical bot.

My boy is really happy with his Soundwave. I'm planning on buying him the 4-pack of cassette bots this payday so he can have a bunch of minions for it.
