I’m not sure if that would happen; last I checked Malory was having doctor’s appointments to talk about bottom surgery. Of course Joe will never have his dick altered and this love story will end up with Malory having been mutilated and Joe doing whatever freaky shit his next jam is.

I was wondering whether Mallory has always been as cruel as Joe or if Joe's pre-troon-out (and, tbh, current) brand of sniveling masculinity is just #transitiongoals for her. I used to enjoy The Toast back in the day and never got the sort of nasty vibe she exudes now, but who really knows. There have been a few things I've seen from Mallory's post-transition that have made me wonder whether she's an example of the elusive autoandrophile, but perhaps she is in fact rarer still: the very first female to autogynephile narc!

I read The Toast too, for a short while. For those not familiar, The Toast was a partly fun/silly, partly serious feminist blog. Some of it was genuinely funny, some of it was your typical 21st century hand-wringing/navel-gazing feminism, and looking back, there was a healthy dose of SJW brand vitriol as well.

In my opinion, yes, even when she was still a 'she', Mallory was ... maybe not outright nasty, but the tone of her articles was offputting. It put me off enough to stop visiting the site. Heavily sarcastic, supercilious, loaded with absolute contempt towards anything worthy of criticism - often meaning, anything she didn't like - i.e: men.
Snarky critiques of male-centric attitudes are, I suppose, on-message for a feminist blog that doesn't take itself too seriously. But it felt like they crossed the line into mean-spiritedness too often. Anything that men (mainly the white & straight ones of course) wrote, thought, or loved doing was ground for scorn and ridicule.

I wish I could remember some concrete examples, but here you go, there's an entire tag for articles in the category
'Misandry'.
Mallory calls it 'playful' misandry, like everything she wrote was permeated with disdain for those awful, worthless heterosexual men and their terrible heterosexual maleness but ha ha it's just a joke lighten up you fragile egomaniacs.
It seems like some readers tried to argue back against some of it, getting responses like this and this.

Read the article (Archive) and it's quite clear that the quote is exactly what it seems. Joe meant that when he wore panties to a professional conference and fantasized about being a "bitch" and the "victim of sexism," he got a boner. Gross.

This is sad to see. I used to read Dear Prudence before Ortberg took over, and kind of kept up here and there, but stopped for a few years. When I started reading again, I'd seen he'd transitioned, which seemed completely out of left field. Since then the column has been a bit off the rails.

That piece is too fucking funny, the context for the quote makes it so much worse! I will give him that the comparison he draws between being a foreigner and being trans is apt. For the trannies who at least make some sort of effort/actually transition, being trans is sort of like being a gender-expat, in that as hard as you try to assimilate, you'll never actually *be* the real deal. It's like those alpha-weeaboos who move to Japan, become fluent in Japanese, get Japanese citizenship, etc. and then are mad when no one thinks they're actually Japanese, least of all the based Japs themselves. I assume this wasn't quite the idea Joe was trying to communicate, but he did a bang-up job of it anyway.

Gotta disagree with you on the photo, tho, Potatis -- if the TERFs had really wanted an unflattering shot, they could have picked the photo Joe includes of himself in the article looking like a "mignonne bitch" lol. Or one of his moob selfies.
